So my computer crashed and the cost to repair it is not worth it- so bummed that I have to even be making a decision here but I am wondering if I want to go from a laptop to a tablet. I personally love the idea of a tablet, lightweight, simple, easy to carry, etc...... Other than my blog I only use the internet for email, surfing, shopping, etc.....
When I went into the store they ask you what you want it for and as soon as I mentioned loading photos to my blog they told me I would not be happy with a tablet. (I am wondering if they really know what I am talking about after the guy told me I could not HOST my blog from a tablet).
So of course, where am I going to go for the best advise- uh,yep- splitcoast! Please share with me if you have a blog- do you use a laptop or tablet and the pros and cons.
Well, I misunderstood part of your post so I'm re-writing this.
I would suggest going in and talking to them about this again. Their questions are pertinent. I don't think that you would be able to run a blog for the tablet either. The tablet is basically a larger smartphone. The tablets run on Aps not programs.
It doesn't have the memory or the ability to do multiple things like a computer.
I would personally get a laptop and get a small tablet for on the run kind of things. I actually broke down and bought a Mac. Simply because it does everything and it doesn't get viruses. They can get Malware but the don't get viruses.
He wasn't yanking you around there is so much that you can not do on the tablet. There is one called the Surface. Anyway, the keyboard comes off and it acts like a tablet but is still a computer with programs.
Something to think about.
I hope that I helped enough to encourage you to go back and talk to the sales person. These young computer geeks sales guys, they really do know there stuff. If you explain what you need or want to do they'll help you get set up.
Tablets are nice and fun for on the run, but laptops are productive. If that makes sense.

I have both and have to agree. The tablet is great for checking out blogs (i use the Feedly app to keep track of all the blogsI like) but I prefer to use the computer for updating my webpage and my blog (mine are not card related but work related) and it is much easier to do on the computer than thru a tablet.
Thanks for your input ladies! I did see the surface and Lenovo has one that also flips from laptop to tablet but overall it is a computer. I could not believe how many laptops are now flips and slips into keyboard- technology is so awesome.
I would vote with a laptop or at least a large notebook. I actually do think you could do it all from a tablet, but not as easily or as quickly, and with only minimal photo-editing. I've added photos to pre-scheduled blog posts from both my phone and DH's tablet, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice. I touch-type and I need a proper keyboard to be happy ;-).
I have tried to blog from my tablet while commuting and I've definitely not been happy about it. I can't do what I want - it is just clunky in that respect. I love my tablet to browse and read on, but not for actually doing things. I'll stick to my laptop and desktop for that. Good that you ask around, do some research and find what is best for you.

I blogged for a while from an I pad. It was difficult to do what I wanted. I just bought a new computer and am so happy to have the ability to do all I want to do again.
If you want to blog, I say go with a computer or laptop not a tablet.
I'm with the others- a tablet is great for browsing the net/blogs/shopping etc, but it simply won't have the processing power to make updating a blog simple. Thats not saying it wont do it, just that it will be very slow and clunky!
I am so confused. How can anyone use a tablet for a computer? how do you print off things? For that reason; I have never even pursued the notion. Please, broaden my horizons and fill me in.

I think that most of us prefer the computer instead of the tablet. I know some can make it work, but to me a tablet is something to use as a time killer when you are somewhere like Dr office, Chemo, long trips for kids etc....
I couldn't do the day to day with a tablet. More power to those who can make it work is all I got to say....lol
Stampencamper, most tablets work wifi, so if you have a printer, its possible to send stuff to it that way. That said,as Denvercat says, its more o fa handy extra device, rather than a replacement for a desktop pc. Think of it as a sort of halfway between a smartphone and a laptop! Although, to be fair, most things a tablet can do now,and most apps they can run, can also be done on a smartphone.
