Shoebox Project Information:
This is the only mandatory part of the day which will take place first on our schedule
**Please have your shoebox completely prepared and ready to go when you arrive for the gathering. Unfortunately, I have had complaints in past years of people not having their shoebox projects ready for their tablemates to work on, making this reminder necessary. If you don't arrive with a completed and ready to go shoebox project, your tablemates are not obligated to allow you to do the project they have prepared. Being prepared means having all of the elements of your pre planned project prepared and ready for your tablemates. Tossing a bunch of random supplies on the table and instructing people to "create whatever they would like" is not acceptable. Please be considerate of others and extend the courtesy of having your shoebox project ready when you arrive. Thanks!!**
*Your shoebox project can be anything stamped*
• If you are making a card, we will make FULL cards using at least one embellishment (ribbon, brads, buttons, etc).
• Quality CS is a MUST!
• Please have all card pieces pre-cut.
• Please bring stamps or other items for your project
• Please include instructions (aka: recipes), tips and any other important information.
• Please bring four extra completed shoe box projects. You will use one as your sample at your table, two for hostess gifts and one for a door prize.
• You may make other projects keeping in mind it should not take more than 10-12 minutes to complete.
• We estimate having approx. 8 people at each table and will give final numbers when we have a final count.
Swaps
Lori Newhouse is our swap hostess. Please follow the requirements below and if you are joining the SU only, please use only current SU products. Please note that if you sign up for a swap and do not fulfill your commitment, you will not receive any swaps from the others in your group.

For those wishing to participate, please bring a handmade gift with a value of approx. $5.00. Please be sure your gift is wrapped with your name so the person who receives it knows who to thank!!
Donations
As many of you are aware, our dear friend, Carolyn Weichenthal, passed away on June 2nd after a courageous and hard fought battle with several different types of cancer. In honor of her, we will be directing our donations to Pulta Cancer Center where she received her treatments. Carolyn had a very special place in her heart for the patients and staff at Pulta, especially her wonderful daughter, Jennifer, who works there and would be very honored that we have chosen this organization to direct our donations to. Carolyn was a vital part of this gathering since the beginning and even while she was struggling with cancer, she still did all she could to help out. I am in contact with Jennifer regarding what types of donations they are in need of and will update this category as soon as I have the details. I am also talking to Jennifer about starting a card rack for patients to be able to take cards from for their personal use. I have a great lead on a card rack that we could donate with our cards if we are able to do this – stay tuned for more details!!
DONATION UPDATE:
I have been struggling with getting this donation information posted as it's going to be way different then what we have done in the past, so here it goes. I have been talking to to Carolyn's daughter and it appears that they are very particular about donations which I find to be a bit odd. They do give their patients gift cards for stores, restaurants, gas, etc. and will take them in any amount, but prefer a minimum of $25. I told her that that was likely not a happening thing from folks at our small gathering. They do have a lady who makes fleece ponchos for the patients to wear during their chemo/radiation treatments and they are looking for fleece donations for these capes which I think will work out way better for a group such as ours. It takes 1 1/2 yards of fleece for one poncho, if you would like bring 1 1/2 yards of fleece to donate that would be great or if you'd just prefer to donate money, I will purchase a Joann gift card for the amount that we collect.
Regarding cards - my thought was that we could donate cards for the patients to have access to as they many not always have the time or feel up to shopping for cards. I even have a card rack that was donated by the Talbott's to give them as well. This ideas was not well received and they have stated that they don't think anybody would use them and therefore do not wish to have cards donated. I am currently looking into other options for us to donate cards to. I am looking for a not for profit that could benefit from our cards, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I would like it to be a local cause that likely does not have access do card donations on a regular basis. I am going to be calling Gilda's club and possible a dialysis unit this week.
As always, we will have prize drawings for donations of fleece/money for Pulta and cards.
Hope to see you all at the gathering!
Lauri

We will do a Secret Sister again this year if there is interest. There will be information forms at the registration table for those wishing to participate.
We decided as a group last year that the minimum secret sister requirements are as follows:
-a card on her birthday
-one card for each season (winter, spring, summer, fall)
-a papercrafted gift with a $5 value at the reveal at next years gathering
We want to keep it simple, so please feel free to do as much as you want, but above would be the minimum.
If you have a Secret Sister from last years gathering, please don't forget to bring her a paper crafted gift as stated above for our reveal!!

If any of you would like to bring garage sale items, please feel free, but at your own risk. If there is enough of an interest and somebody would like to coordinate a schedule to monitor the items for sale, please let me know.

***PLEASE SEE POST #32 FOR SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FROM PAT REGARDING THE UNLOVED/UNWANTED EXCHANGE. ALSO, PLEASE DIRECT ANY QUESTION AND/OR CONCERNS REGARDING THIS EXCHANGE DIRECTLY TO PAT. THANKS!***
We have done this swap the last couple of years, it was fun, for people who have not exchanged the box before, what it is is a medium mailing box from the post office, any of the two medium works, you would FILL it with things you no longer use or want or have doubles of, please fill the box with items, not peanuts or filler. PLEASE do not put broken items in, if it does not work no one else wants it I know someone received two broken punches last year which is not fun for them. When you arrive at the gathering you will be given a ticket for each of your boxes you bring, do not put your name on them, just a mark so you will not pick your own box to take home. There is not $ amount min or max, you may put items worth more than you get back. Paper crafting items only.......You can bring as many as you wish.

Hi Lauri. I always look forward to this event! Put me down with a +1. I'll get back with what we're participating in. Thanks for all the hard work you always put into this day.
Most of you have done this in prior gatherings and know how much fun it can be, just a couple of rules.
Size does matter......no smaller than a Med post office box, it can of course be larger.
NO BROKEN ITEMS...Please, if it will not work for you it will not work for others, just no fair.
craft related items only. Things we can use of course this covers most mediums.
No box fillers, no newspaper, or the nut things, the box has to be full of items.. Also remember, there is no dollar value on the box, I keep saying some one may put a big shot (I keep hoping) in their box but may not receive anything of that value back. The box must be full of items that are useable.
Pack away.
This is not really a sign up swap, just bring as few or as many as you wish, bring 1 get 1, bring 2 get 2.
Happy packing.

Reason: adding
Hey Laurie! Not that it's earthshattering but my last name was listed as Deny and it's Denny. Really, no big deal just as long as I'm on the list. Will send my registration and money soon.
