I just got back from a KNK retreat and I'm ready to start using my Maxx w/MTC.
It only took me 1-1/2 years to learn how to use my machine and software, LOL, so for those of you who are like me, and I know you're out there and you have a machine just gathering dust, there IS HOPE.
I have done various searches in SCS but I have not been able to find a thread that has a resource list for SVG files (freebies or purchases). Most likely this reflects on my search skills (or more accurately, my lack of skills haha).
If any of you use SVG files and have some good resources for these files, I'd be very appreciative of any info you'd care to share.
I am so jazzed about using this machine. For starters, I have just created a project with some welded text but I bet there are awesome SVG files available.
TIA.

Waltzingmouse Stamps has cut files as SVG and DXF - freebies and for purchase, some that coordinate with stamp sets, some stand alone ones. You can see what's offer here. I haven't used them but these Art Deco panels look amazing!
I'm sure other stamp companies do similar things, WMS just sprang to mind.

Thanks so much! I bought the art deco panels - they are beautiful!! And .99 pounds - such a deal, too. Much appreciated

If it's SVG, just google FREE SVG cut files. I've gotten so many that it's ridiculous. You can also get a free cut file from MissCuttables every day. Sign up for Silhouette (free) and you can get a free SVG cut file every week. There are hundreds of bloggers who create and offer free cut files.
I hope that helps. My apologies if I repeated someone else's answers. I posted from my reader and didn't read all the other replies.

Good luck.
I googled 'SVG files' multiple times (cuz I'm a rockhead LOL and thought I'd get different results doh) but MY search did not return much and what was ret'd didn't provide much help. I'll try googling 'free svg cut files'. And I'll check out MissCuttables and Silhouette.
I belong to the MakeTheCut Forum and in our recent KNK retreat I was told there were tons of files out there, but I'll be darned if I can find them - again, it's gotta be 'user error' (i.e. ME doing something wrong).
Thanks so very much for your help - great suggestions - can't wait to see what I can fine

Another one I forgot- UKSCRAPPERS. This forum has a section for all the Craft Robo/Silhouette machines. You need to become a member(free) and be a member for a month, then you get access to all the free SVG files members post.

Awesome !! I just got off of the phone with KNK support and we got my bluetooth connection to my machine working so I am 'ready for action' LOL and you're giving me great resources - I am so excited. Thanks, yet again Off to check it out...........

So I thought that I would come back to here and post something that I discovered. It would entail you to subscribe to bloglovin. I subscribed then put in the search engine of bloglovin Free SVG cuts. Here is just one of the blogs that I found with freebies. You will get a list that you can subscribe to and search their archives. You'll get a notice from Bloglovin when they post a new one. It's just a thought and hopefully it will help you. It sure has helped me.

I know right?? How did we not know this. I have been on bloglovin for a while, but I never really used it. Then I decided I wanted a different blog reader on my phone and they have a great ap, so keep that in mind too. Bloglovin is just what I needed to follow the type of blogs I love. It's also great for finding and getting alerts for give aways.
You are quite welcome glad I could help. I will post links to blogs and other web sites that have SVGs when I find them.... I'm always looking because you can find really cool unusual cut files.

Dover has a digital download site, Dover Pictura. While most of the files are jpg, some are EPS, TIFF & SVG. Prices for individual files are $0.99 and entire collections range from $12.99 to $15.99.
My hurdle is converting jpg to SVG for free or nominal cost, that still looks like the jpg after conversion. Does Adobe Illustrator convert jpg to SVG well? I have thought about subscribing for awhile if it does.

I've tried Inkscape and Vector Magic, they don't do a very good job on complex clip art. Some of it comes out interesting, but not like the original jpg.
I went back and looked at Adobe, they have a free trial of Illustrator, which I will try in the near future. I'll report back on that experience.
There is another program, Serif Draw Plus that I've been sort of eyeing up. I have Illustrator, but I'm a geek and like software. It looks like its a nice piece of software for a really reasonable price. It will do image traces as well.
Another option would be Make the cut if you are just wanting to trace images to make svgs for cutting files. It has the best tracing algorithms and comes out with very clean traces.
You can download a trial version of each program to test them out.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will certainly try them. My ultimate goal is be able to convert Dover clip art (30+ books) and my own drawings to .svg and make my own photopolymer stamps. That would send me over the moon! I want to make sure I can do the covnversions to my satisfaction first or there is no point in buying stamp making equipment.
Here is a site that offers free .svg files. I like a lot of them and they would be good for stamping and likely safe to download. Also has a nice discussion of prepping artwork for conversion to .svg files.
Wow. Thank you everyone for sharing all this info. I've learned a lot on this thread.
Now that I have all these sites and files, I wondered about security. Do you have an external back up drive for your computer? Memory sticks?
How/where do you perm store your cut files so that you don't lose everything if your computer crashes - or worse yet, you get virus and have to scrub the C drive?

I use a combination of EHDs, dvd/bluray discs & google drive.
