Ink Pad Storage - Closed?

I have seen a lot of open ink pad storage, such as Stamp and Storage and the old Napa cassette tape storage. Do you have ideas for closed storage of ink pads?

I stamp in my dining room, and would like to store my ink on top of our buffet, but I need something that is closed. I'm thinking of closed baskets or something like a wooden desktop organizer.

Any ideas would be very appreciated!

How about a rod iron frame holding baskets that slide in and out? I've seen them with two or three drawers.

Perhaps a small wooden cabinet that has doors that open wide to reveal the contents.

Hope these thoughts get the ideas stirred up. Also, hope you find what will work for you.

I currently store all mine in a medium organizer from Close to My Heart. I used to use a large organizer; but in an attempt to use and not hoard, I have been able to downsize just a bit. It is clear plastic, so not sounding like what you are looking for. I love it because it has a handle and I can carry it around.

Depending how many pads you have to store, is this suitable? IKEA or THIS . THIS was the one I was looking for at first.

I got rid of a lot of my cassette racks when I decided I wanted to keep the re-inkers with the stamp pads. Some are in shallow drawers, while other are in photo boxes. I divided the container with chipboard divider strips cut to suit the arrangement and height. You could use attractive chipboard faux trunks, hatboxes, etc. from craft stores. I select a pad via a swatch book, but you could also attach a color swatch sheet on the inside lid of the box.

You could match it to your decor and because it has shelves, you don't have to rummage for inks, just lift out the one you want.

It's an old medicine cabinet...holds quite a few ink pads.

I purchased a plastic case from JoAnns -- can't remember what it's called but it's the same one that people were using for Copic storage. I used the dividers that came to separate the various types/brands of ink pads. The pads that I use more often are stored in some smaller plastic containers and my distress ink pads are in a case I bought in the tool box section of Menards.

Thanks everyone for your great ideas. For now, I have cleared out a drawer in my buffet, but I will probably go the route that GypsyRoseStamper suggested and get decorative chipboard boxes/trunks for storage. I didn't find anything this weekend at Hobby Lobby or Michael's to match my d�cor, but will revisit in a few months.

The problem with stacking stuff on shelves is that you always need the one at the bottom! I looked for ages for some closed storage, preferably shallow drawers, to store inpads: found lots of letter trays but they were always longest dimension front-to-back, meaning that they would come to right to the front of my counter-top. I finally found one that was 'sideways on': unfortunately, it's not completely enclosed (although I guess I could decorate it): I bought two and, although they don't actually stack, I've held them together with plastic ties to make 6 drawers. You can stack one pad on top of another in the drawers, so still easy to access, and they hold lots!
