Card Sketch Challenge 1-227 done only 396+ to go to be caught up!!!!!
For me the main challenge is going to be mailing cards. First I will start where I am, then work at playing "ketchup" from January for those birthdays and anniversaries that I know I have missed using as much in-stock cards as I can.
As I go along I will make cards as needed and challenge myself to make them personalized in a timely manner using as much as I can from what I have.
Adding this challenge to 2 other challenges I want to do...

Thank you, Pansy for doing this. I'm not sure if I'm up for the challenge right now, but I will DEFINITELY be following/reading this thread. I suppose I could always make my goal to make more cards than I did in round 1, since I only did THREE. lol
okay I am currently on card number ( what ever it says in the siggy line forgot already) but, over 200 so. I think I am going to just peek in and say Hey, no promises about not spending. (and being motivated to create is not a thing at the moment) that could change after graduation and J leaving for boot camp ( June 8th) SO for now I am just an occasional chatter if you'll have me
seen in the old thread Brody gets to spend Easter at home you all must be so Happy
Have to figure out some attainable goals for this round. Didn't take long to blow the no spending rule the first round. :( I accomplished about half of my goals the first round but I did make more cards than I thought I would be able to do.
set your own goals...and if spending is necessary then spend....LOL! I believe the original poster of this type of challenge was gathering a group who wanted to use up horribly large supplies of DSP and embellishments that were either going out of style or were already gone......that was where the no buy guideline came from. My goal this round is to create more WEstern cards and try to complete the 100 with all my photo camp obligations in June and fair judging in July. Glad to see Sue, Angie, Stacy, Misti, Faye and more joining up....YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO HANG OUT AND CHAT AND NOT MAKE CARDS>>> More the merrier.

Card Sketch Challenge 1-227 done only 396+ to go to be caught up!!!!!
Hey ladies, back for round 2! I got about 80 done in round 1, but am OK with that! You all have encouraged me to keep going and crafting. Looking forward to chatting this round and seeing all of the gorgeous creations!
I have tons to do outdoors so I am not sure I can come close to completing more than 1 or 2 projects each week. Plus I have a big project I am working on for the month of June. I'll share more later when I can talk more about it. Right now it's still all behind the scenes.
I can probably complete coloring 100 images but no promises about turning those all into projects. I would like to stay and chat. This has been a nice group of people to get to know! Can I begin early and count the things I have posted in the last week? I really need to grant a few wishes over in WRAK too. When I commit, I have a do it or die trying mentality and neglect the other things. That's just not good. My family room and craft room are looking like a bomb exploded again!
So I did pretty well on the spending too!
I bought a paper piercer at 40 or 50% off after I broke my old one and it's the only thing that works well to empty the tiny bits of paper out of the spellbinder dies.
I used my Christmas gift Certificates for Our Daily Bread Designs back in January and only had to pay my shipping. I didn't play with them until I finished my 100 projects though.
I ordered reinkers for some of my alcohol markers when it was 50% off cause I needed it to continue to color images and I don't pay retail for much of anything!
I didn't buy any card stock or paper, YAY!
Paper piercer less than $3
Shipping $8? I think
Ink $50
Not too Shabby. That's way less than half of what I normally would have spent. I have had to curb the spending this last year and a half and I really clamped down on all spending since the first of the year. It's now time to tighten down even more until hubby finds a job. I kinda had to deal with the stop spending thing by default. I am so thankful for hubby's retirement pay from the Air Force. He's not retired from work just from the Air Force. I need reinkers for more of my markers and have placed them on my birthday list so I should be pretty well set for the next 100 days.
I have also done well with my resolution to enter more challenges in 2014 and that has resulted in some free gifts and gift certificates from 4 different places thus far. I'm really beginning to like this challenge thing! I'm also glad I had so many things on hand in my craft room so I could easily play in the challenges.
Since I got a whopping 0 cards done in round 1 I am joining in on Round 2 to hopefully correct that. In my defense, I did get a lot of my Project Life album done, but I also bought a lot of goodies too. But I hope to get back on track this round and start creating!
I love this group...no pressure, everyone just does their own thing....
I just saw where Becky Higgins has teamed up with SU on her Project Life scrapbooking, I had not seen that love it, I know I would get more scarpbooking done that way...yeppie....I want to get started.
Well good, at least I'm not behind on this round yet. I really enjoyed the first round but lost my mojo towards the middle/end. But I think I'm ready to go again.
My goals are basically the same as last time. Use paper I've been hoarding, try to use stamps that haven't seen ink before and just be more regular with my card making. I didn't come close to making 100 the last time and realistically it probably won't happen again, but I'm not nearly as concerned with the total finished products as I am with just trying to use product/tools.
My goal for this 2nd round is to work on Scrapbooking. I am WAY behind on my scrapbooking projects and also to use what I have in stock. I may have to buy some refill pages for a couple albums....
I got way more done than I expected in Round 1. Yay. I was hoping to get over 100 different cards done but my MOJO deserted me at the end. I still finished lots of scrap pages and cards. I would be happy to get the same done this round.

I'm not sure who it is that mentioned getting cardstock cut at Staples...I did it today...I bought the cardstock at the store and got FREE cutting to my specifications...
Decided since it was free I would also get cardstock cut in half for the base cards that I make and donate to the local hospital!
Yeah...no cutting white cardstock for me for awhile...
AND...the box they put the cut pieces into is WONDERFUL...I'll keep the cardstock in the boxes until it is mostly gone...
I noticed the guy was throwing away the 1/2" strips...told him I wanted them...he was quite surprised! I said...they work well for stamping the sentiments on them...AND...they are already 1/2 pieces!

AND YOU HAD PAID FOR THEM!!! Hello!?!?! What was he thinking throwing them away with out asking you first?
That is great Faye....I'm spoiled my SIL has a big cutter so he cuts all my cardstock, note pads etc. when I need them cut, but good to know Staples will do that.
I did not know Staples did free cuts either. We are spoiled here because we have Paper warehouse that sells all color card bases for 3 cents each in lots of colors. They also sell packs of the basic size cards with envelopes for 95 cents for ten packs. It sure makes it easy.
I am thinking I might try to challenge myself this round to use all different stamps this round. I seem to be in a rut with my favorites?
Happy Friday

Loving all the sharing of ideas and tips and everything.......Paula,,,,you amaze me with your output and still have a huge garden and so forth.....makes me feel lazy.......so glad to see so many familiar names and some new ones too....and yes Paula, by all means,,,count what you have been working on......
to digress: for those who know...my newest grandson arrived a month early and had premie complications even though he weighed 6lbs6oz at birth...he spent 3 days in NICU here in our local hospital and 18 days in NBIC in Wichita KS, about 4 hours from us...On the 18th he was deemed ready to come home....He has a hole in his heart that will be surgically fixed at some future date, a kidney in the pelvic area that is functioning fine and the other one is where it is supposed to be. and concerns about his respiratory rate which was way way too fast for most of the days....but on Wednesday it dropped almost into the normal range and by Thursday it was in the normal range and stayed there all day and night....so Friday we were sent home...it was a joyous long trip for a little one---we joked that he wanted to return the same way he went,,,by plane...but at $35,000 one way that seemed a bit steep....Yes, that is the invoice for the Air Med flight that took him to Wichita. The head nurse/whatever told my daughter not to panic when they received the invoice as it would be pre-insurance......which I am certainly hoping pays for some or all of it.....can't imagine what the hospital bills will look like....cardiac specialist and tests, kidney specialist and tests, neurology specialist and tests, genetics specialist and tests, speech specialist, lactation specialist, respiratory specialist,,,,and I think there were even some others......but Mr. Brody is alert, given a clean bill of health on neurology, genetics and lactation, speech was worried about his swallowing for two days but once he figured it out there was no stopping him--eats like a trooper, and has his parents and us wrapped around his finger quite tightly.

oh Pansy that is so good to read. I have a friend whose husband had to be airlifted and I was told when I had the implants done if I am ever in a car wreck or something where they need to do an MRI on my head I have to be flown to Portland so the magnets can be removed before the xray so they don't kill me with it)
I know its after the fact but, there are ( here anyways) things that are not insurance but, tax deductible memberships in something the one I have is mercy flights but, they are planes & helicopters that go between hospitals. and the way the one I have works is if your insurance covers a flight they pick up the difference after ( its a 60.00 a year thing for everyone in my house) and if your insurance does not cover the flight they pay half of it.
and thinking of this it may be something to check into to see if there is something like that near them ( just in case) they may ever need it again.
ambulance's have that kind of a thing here too I have a friend who has seizures and when she has them at the gym its a 4,000 ride to the hospital ( 5 miles away ) so, her family bought her that one.
Thanks Pansy but you will see less and less paper crafts produced for a while. Just a couple of things per week. Then when it gets really hot this summer I will be indoors more but there will be canning and freezing going on too. I get the most crafty stuff done during cold weather so I was making the most of the last challenge.
I'm glad the little man was released from the hospital! Sounds like he still has some challenges in his future. I'm cautiously optimistic!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
Go Faye Go!!!
I think my overall goal this year is to produce at least 365 items. In this current round I think I would like to set my goal at 34 and I will stay on track for the year and still have time to breathe. I need to grant more wishes at WRAK too! I'm keeping it simple because I have landscaping goals to accomplish here at home! We have a new front walk and steps to cover in stone and brick.
Goals
1. 34 Projects complete
2. Grant WRAK Wishes
3. Participate in 14 Challenges
Pansy, such good news about the little guy! Sounds like Brody is doing very well.
I know those hospital bills and airlift bills are huge. Hoping insurance will cover most of that for them. I know with my DS #2 he spent his first month in the hospital (2 different ones) and had an ambulance transport that cost $12,000. But, luckily, we mainly paid our deductibles and that was that. Hoping that will be the case for them, too.
Thank you Paula and Kathleen....baby Brody weighed in at 7 pounds today.....and is eating 2 oz every 4 hours.....there is lots to be thankful for,,,,,and believe me we are....I refuse to worry about the medical bills as I told my daughter....they will be what they will be and we will help you exhaust every avenue to take care of them.
Now for some help for me please.....I can not figure out how I created the gallery thing....or did we all just use the correct keyword and the cards were findable and grouped? HELP!!!

Yes, they will be what they will but it is good to look at the bills that they really belong to Brody's care...errors happen...yeah on his improvement.
As for the gallery...I just put in the keyword, I don't remember clicking a special gallery...
Of course in the beginning there were 2 galleries last time...so...once you make your selection of keywords would you post it in the first post of this thread so I can easily find it when I add cards to the gallery? Please...thank you!

Here's my card. I love the inspiration to try to do a card per day, it does give me motivation to at least try to be crafty and tonight was one of those nights I need a little "push"
I might try some of this. But question what is the Keyword when up load the card projects? thanks, hotwheels PS. If we don't have Keyword How will we all that it was the 100 card projects than?
I'm in on round 2.....I lost track of round 1...I'm sure I reached the # of cards - just stopped posting and adding to the gallery...and commenting too. So sorry. Will try to be better this round!
thank you...will post to gallery when I make something!
I did help a 10-year old make a card today, she colored the image, chose the embossing folder and the die...I did the cutting...
I didn't make it so I won't count it but she was thrilled that I wanted a picture of it...usually I forget to take pictures when I work with her or her sister.
