We are not a new group, just beginning a new thread.
Starting a new home here- and as Lynn mentioned the last time we started a new thread.... No need to call the Moving Van though - just check in here and give us a "hi" so we'll know everyone is here and you get the updates from SCS when someone comments in the group.
Be sure and try to check each blog at least once a week and leave some love and, of course, receive alot of inspiration!
Wahoo- Just waiting to hear from Jeanette and Darlene then......
Would anyone consider taking over sending out the monthly card assignments? Paige said she just made an alphabetical list and moved the names up one each time......
Hubby had a touch of the flu yesterday- he ate some toast and soup today-and after the toast, decided to go to work this afternoon- silly..... I made Chicken noodle soup yesterday, and sliced the heck out of not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 of my fingers on our new slicer that Ray bought.....Oh I did a number on two of them...... There is a BIG sticker on the top that warns how sharp it is, just cutting carrots and celery for the soup..... SO, trying to wash my hands well to avoid the flu has been interesting!
It was so quiet here today- I slept late, got up and it was cold in the house, so set the heat up and then got on the computer......Pintrest : ) I did a load of laundry, swept the floors upstairs and picked up the kitchen counter, walked the dog (he loves fresh snow-and it snowed here again last night).......,back on the computer.... loaded a couple of cards on SCS and then made one card......Ray and I are watching Breaking Bad still- we watched one tonight, so 7 more to go till we are done. One more day off till I work my week on.....
I think I am going to have to get a new computer- mine is acting up again......Does anyone have Windows 8? I do not know if I can ever get Windows 7 anymore....but hear W-8 is way different.
Hoping everyone is having a great week- yeah for Spring Break!

No Spring Break here! Wish there was. I could use one. ;)
Shelly, so sorry about your fingers. I've done that before only on my flatbed rotary cutter, but not so many of them at one time. Stay away from DH. YOu sure don't need to get sick on top of cut fingers.
I'm just trying to work out the coloring of an image. This time I am coloring first and will find paper to go with. I have some embellishments that I want to use and match up to the finished image. I had to stop at the grocery store on my way home to pick up some things for dinner tomorrow night. It's our Single Chicks dinner only this time we're not going to meet at a restaurant, we're having a pot luck at an elderly lady's house. One of the other ladies who comes every month is her caregiver and she suggested it. I think it will be lots of fun. I'm making Southwestern Chicken in the crockpot and needed some black beans and canned corn. Also got some Salsa and Tortilla chips. After I ate dinner I went out front and set out the plants that I want in the front flower bed. The ones in the back I haven't decided yet where I want them and the beds need to be weeded out. I had to pull up some more of the blue daze in the front of the house. That stuff really had a hold on the ground, but I managed to get it out and into a couple trash bags.
If we're going to continue to do our monthly assignments, I'll go ahead and send out the names every month. You know that I'm always late with everything though. Poor Darlene, I'm just now getting her card sent out for February. The card I'm working on is for Kelly, so you know that one's going to be late too. So sorry!!! :(
I've got a bit of a headache. I know it's my eyes and I can't wait until next week when I go to the eye doctor. I sure hope I can get a pair of glasses this time that will really work.

I'm going to take something for my eye ache and hit the sack. It's going to be a long day. Boss was supposed to have a mediation, but they called today to reschedule. :(

Here I am!!! Found my way, but no baggage, hehehehe. This phase of my life has ENOUGH of that LOL
Shelly: SO SORRY that you're sick on top of the nasty cuts!! Oh my heavens, please take good care of those fingers, and the rest of you!
Yes, I did receive your cheery card while I was sick. Actually, it probably arrived while I was gone for my conference at work, but I opened it last weekend (I think) when I was sick and it was a nice bright spot! Thank you!
Maggie: no worries about being late on my account, in fact I am positive that I am late for you and Shelly too. Bad me. But I get my life back in balance now that the conference is over and it's just the normal work load. So, my friends, I PROMISE to be better! :p Thanks for putting up with me. (2 yrs ago I changed our operations to virtual, so myself and all staff have remote offices in our homes. So, yes, I work out of my house most of the time)
Jeanette: are you well? I think you may have mentioned in another thread that you were coming down with a virus. Oh, I hope not. The one I am getting over is really nasty.
Waving to Maxine, down under! I would so love to visit NZ someday. It's been a dream of mine since my teens.
Kelly, have fun on Spring Break with your kiddos! Blow some warm sunshine up my way to melt the snow & ice, ok? It would be great to see my daffodils before Memorial Day, hahahaha
Well, off to get ready for work now. Later this afternoon I will pick up my birds from "The Spa". I kept them at her home with her flock while I was at my conference & then while I was sick so that they would not catch anything. Hopefully it's safe now to bring them home. Sure miss the company!
All:
Kelly's birthday is tomorrow. The reason I can know this is that it is also my son's birthday, hehehe. Two special people, born on the same day of the same month. <heart>
Maxine, I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your company!
Maggie, I want to come to Chick Night! Your dish sounds delicious!!!
Darlene, yep, you're right. I caught my DH's "bug". UGH! His didn't last too long (5 days) and he was able to function - so I plan to do the same. LOL! Actually, I have an all-day meeting Saturday that I sure don't want to miss...... so I'm trying to get well before then. ;)
Oh no! Shelly, you're sick in addition to the fingers? :(
Good Morning, girls! Getting a late start to our morning due to construction on our road and dd's project at college - we're waiting on her before heading out
J, I don't know if you caught my question before (don't even know WHICH thread!) but how old is your dd? I was sharing with mine last night and while her eyes popped out of her head at the location, lol, I was watching her with interest as she is traveling down the same path, only she's hoping for the Appalacians. She wants to give up nursing - said it was never her 'dream' and that she feels that God has called her to work in the field of special education. She works with them now - by default - they literally gave her the 'class that no one wanted' and she was heartbroken by that (NOT TO HER!! That they say that about the kids, kwim?) She LOVES LOVES LOVES what she does! She already talked to her advisor and luckily she hasn't invested that much in her studies and has taken mostly core classes. Okay, I'm babbling .............
I finally made my blog rounds!! You girls are SO creative!! I've much to learn! I have missed my online life :( All my wonderful friends stuck in this computer I know that time will settle, it just comes and goes in busy cycles. It will be summer before I know it! WOOOOOHOOOO! I love summer! Especially because all my babies are home!! ♥
Darlene (and possibly Jeanette, Shelly) I cannot believe you all still have snow!! That is insane! What on earth. YEsterday we woke up to a CHILLL here - like get a jacket! It reminded me of when we were in Chicago! the wind just cut right through us and we had to duck inside a lot yesterday. Today is warmer but what on earth.
DD and the pup are fine - nothing ever became of that :( Which is nice. I DO NOT like conflict and avoid it at all costs. I just don't like adversity in any form and would rather we 'all just get along', lol. Which is why our new next door neighbors have me so baffled!! We have tried. I am telling you, they are like mafia hiding out or something - something isnt' right, lol. But thank you for your thoughts and wonderful words for her - she's NOT going to walk them anytime soon, that much I know!
Here I am!!! Found my way, but no baggage, hehehehe. This phase of my life has ENOUGH of that LOL

Glad that you made your way. Your card is going in the mail today. :( I would LOVE to work from home. I could totally do it too if my boss would allow it, but that's not going to happen.
I'm sure Bijou and the rest will be happy to be back home again.

Kelly, I love your frog!
Hugs for all!!!
We'd love to have you Jeanette - if you were single. Some of the married sisters in my Ward would love to come too, but we don't let them.
Hope you feel much better by Saturday.

Never any rush here!
I'm sorry you have a headache - and you are the one who doesn't get headaches! I hope your new glasses will do the trick!
okay......... filing for divorce today. Surely my DH will understand... since I want Southwestern Chicken! (*gasp)
Drats! That might not be a good plan, after all.
Kelly, my DD is 27. Did I tell you???? She has a job offer!!! She had a skype interview Tuesday and he offered her a Special Ed Job in the Lower Yukon School District. She emailed him Wednesday and ACCEPTED!!! My DD is fulfilling her dream of moving to Alaska to teach Special Ed!!! I'm so excited for her! (But shhhhhhhh!!! Don't say anything about it on FB. She hasn't told her current boss yet. She's waiting for a signed contract before she does that.)
Your DD is an exceptional young lady... so glad she wants to touch the lives of the special children. I'm sure she will excel and they will love her! You are very proud of her, I'm sure - as you should be! She and my DD might enjoy chatting... we might want to put them in touch with each other.

I don't get headaches and it's very frustrating. It's behind my right eye mostly and I know it's my glasses. The ones that I was supposed to have last year I just never could get them to do right, so even after spending all the $$ to get them, I've never been able to wear them.

LOL! No, Jeanette! Don't do that. It's certainly not worth it. I know.
Congrats to you DD. So many wonderful things happening for everyone. That's such a coincidence that your DD and Kelly's DD are heading in the same direction as a career. Best of luck to both of them. Such noble callings.

Oh boy - let's hope dh doesn't read SCS, lol!
Yes, you did tell me - I was in the group chat (I texted Congrats but fear that might have gotten lost in all that chatter!) I know you are very proud and this will we a wonderful new journey! I was asking about her age because I stumbled on a blog the other day on the web (Looking for scenic pictures for ds's school journal) and there was a girl with your dd's name heading to AK w/ things to do before 30 ........... hmmm, wonder if there is a connection! Her list was wonderfully interesting!
I am sure my dd will figure it out where/what she wants in life. She is 19. She has time, lol.

YAY! The divorce is off! ::: whew ::: I did wonder who would do all that canning with your hubs ;)
J, I'm sure your dd takes after her generously spirited mom with your missionary work and faith-filled upbringing. For my dd, I think it's just a God-cidence - you know, right place, right time, God directed! My dh is the practical one when the kids talk of their hopes and dreams. Dd 17 for example, wants to study musical theater and be on the stage, as well as choreography and set design. I'm not ashamed to say she is amazingly talented and would thrive well ~ she has an angelic voice that captivates the audiences and makes me cry! BUT ...... while I'm saying "follow your dreams, honey!" my dh is behind me saying "Get a real job!" LOL!! (NOT LITERALLY!) But he does say "ahem, that is not going to pay your way ....." I can see his fear and his point, but still ..........

Oops! I remember the texting. EEK! My head is so stopped up, it's amazing I'm making any sense at all. DH??? My DH??? He knows about DD's job offer... it's her current employer who doesn't.
And yes, my DD is the one with the list of things to do before 30. ;) It's connected.
I am in the same boat - if nothing else DH needs me so he can eat!! ;-)
Lovely to see you all here and chatting up a storm :-)
It's a very good Friday morning here, sunny and warming up again - it was the pastor who called around yesterday afternoon....
Shelly so glad you can't share your bugs via the internet - but then again, we have both had the 'flu shots already this year.
Talking of 'flu, the rather nasty F1N1 strain is already in the country and there have been at least 8 people hospitalised in one area alone, and last I heard one of them was in an induced coma - not good!
Whoa! I was missing in action one day and took me a long time to attempt to catch up!
Shelly - yikes on having the flu!!! I know - had it twice last year so lined up early for a flu shot this year. I'm hoping I've escaped it now with spring approaching - or maybe I should say summer since we're suppose to be up to 90 tomorrow!
Kelly, glad your daughter and the pup are ok and Happy Birthday a day early but will stop by tomorrow to tell you again I'm sure. AND BIG CONGRATS on the new DT!!! Woot! Woot!
Maggie, hope your eye starts feeling better. I know how awful that is! It's a shame we don't all live closer to you then we could "crash" your Chicks night!
Darlene - hope you're feeling better and know y'all have been having more rough, frigid weather! Uck!
Maxine - that's great that the Foundation for the Blind came by. They can be a big help to y'all I'm sure. Since we're approaching summer, guess you're headed for winter now!
Jeanette, that's wonderful about your daughter and the upcoming new job! We ALL need to go visit her when she gets settled! I know y'all are so proud of her.
Have we heard anything about a new member wanting to join yet?
I've been hard at work trying to get some cards ready for April while the weather was too ucky to be outside. Now that's it's warming up I see the yard calling me.
FYI - I'm going to the big city tomorrow for a meeting and will be gone all day. I won't be here on SCS at all this weekend. So, let me be the first to wish you a fabulous weekend!!!
