Thanks for sharing this! I love Hobby Lobby stores and would hate it is they had to shut their doors. I had actually heard that they got a 'waiver' for the insurance issues they were having but then read about another lawsuit. It gets all so confusing! Nice to see they are still in business!
70? That sounds like they're spreading themselves too thin. Although I do have to drive over an hour to get to one, so it would be nice to have one open closer to home.
Would love if they would put one in the twin cities somewhere. Right now it's either a 4 hr drive to Fargo or an 1.5 drive down south. We have a lake place about an hour from the fargo store, but I still only get there every few years. And now that Archivers is gone, I would love to have them closer.
Now that I've moved back to Central FL, the closest store is about 30 minutes away. Much better than when I was in SC and the closest store was an hour away in Charleston!
My friend and I drive a long way once in a while to shop. We emailed the company, pleading for a store in San Diego County and they replied that they are not considering it. Just where can you put 70 new stores without having one here?!?!

I certainly agree with you on that one! I have never been to a Hobby Lobby store. Even if I had a car, the closest one is still almost a hundred miles from me. There is no way to get to one by public transportation. San Diego County manages to support a lot of small independent stamp/scrap & crafting stores. It seems like the demographics would be good for a Hobby Lobby store since there is so much interest here.
Oh wow, Mt Vernon? That's awesome. I'll just have to go there next time we head to Bellingham. It's only about 35 minutes farther south. Thanks for posting this.
I went to the New Hobby Lobby in Woodbury Mn last week the day after they opened. It was great. The only other one I had ever been in was in Mason City IA

Hobby Lobby is also opening a store in Maplewood, MN later this year. It is going in on the other side of White Bear Ave., from Maplewood Mall. In the same strip mall that has Old Country Buffet. I was told they are taking over most of the mall, forcing all the little stores/businesses out.
to keep our craft alive we need to be supporting all these stores and our LSS, and our Direct Sales people. When I started attending gatherings we would shop at all the LSS stores, there aren't many around anymore. Soon we will only be able to shop online and its so much more fun to touch it!
My town is finally getting a Hobby Lobby (the closest one is 30 miles away). It's going into a shopping center that used to house a K-Mart and some other small businesses.
And, it's right next to the shopping center that houses Michaels and across the road from our newish (less than 2 years old) Joann's. Talk about ramping up the competition!

AND it's almost right next door to an LSS that opened just a year and a half ago. I wonder what they think about the news? They're what I call a pretty traditional scrapbooking store so I don't find much there to interest me.
One HL is opening in my town in the spring and another slated for 2 hours north of me...Both will be much better than the 4 hour drive to closest one now.....

We have one opening in Albany, Oregon this spring. It will be about 20 minutes away! We desperately need a decent hobby store; the 2 Joann's and 1 Michael's in my area are very small stores with limited inventory.
Suppose to get one in Lakewood WA in the closed K Mart. Sure hope so as I have an hr drive to Frederal
Way WA
I drove by that one this weekend. They have a sign on the building saying Opening Soon! Looks like they've completed the main store makeover and are now working on what was the outdoor section.

Just looked on the Hobby Lobby website and it lists the Federal Way, WA store as NOW CLOSED... Sad Lakewood is a little farther than I'm willing to go. Albany OR won't be much better.
Have been the the new store in Mount Vernon,it is awesome and very huge. Something for everyone. They had a very good sale on papercrafting,so I hit it at a great time. I will definitely be going back to this store, staff very pleasant too!

If you haven't been in her store in the last couple of months, she's gotten product in from several stamp companies.
I don't shop at HL for the same type of things that I shop at a LSS for so I hope it doesn't hurt her to have them move in so close.
