Arrow January 2014 Scrap Pages & Chatter -- sbc14jan

Scrappin' Challenge 2014

Can you believe this is our 6th year of Scrappin' Goal Challenge?! We sure completed an AWESOME number of pages together in 2009 through 2013 and I'm looking forward to MORE Scrap pages together in 2014! Let's keep scrappin'.

It was SO fun to chat about and see everyone's pages, goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2014! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops...

What fun we'll have sharing ideas, cheering success, keeping the motivation and making new friends. Our scrap goal isn't all about getting pages done, it's also about enjoying the process! Please feel free to join at any time!

Here's the CHALLENGE. Each person can share their page goals, pages and ideas. for those of use who like Annual Goals, we will have a better shot at meeting our yearly goal if we break it down by month.

*In this thread, we track our monthly goals. We find it helps us keep getting pages done which is good for all of us.

You choose your own scrapbook page goal and monthly spend goal. You may select 2, 3, 5, 50 pages....you choose. The idea is to be flexible so if you know you're going to be really busy, you can reduce the number one month or if you're going to a couple crops or scrap weekends, up the number. This also works for the budget. Each month, you can change your goals depending on your calendar!

The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done all the while enjoying sharing with Virtual Friends.

Are you UP for the CHALLENGE? Come and Play in the 2014 Scrapbook Challenge! Here's to Meeting our Scrapping Goals & Meeting New Friends!

We'd love to "oohh" and "aahh" over your pages so please post with key word "sbc14jan"

Me- I will be here scrappin'!

I have my son's birthday present for next December planned- I laid out the 40 pages that it will include last night. It will be digital and either printed 10X10 through Shutterfly or 11x11 through Photobook America. It will really depend upon who has the best coupon when I get them finished!
So for the year's plan I will try to do the following:
Jan- finish 2013 for my sons
Feb- finish 2013 for me
March- make pages from 2012 for my sons
April- finish 2012 for me
May- make 2011 for my sons
June- finish 2011 for me
July- scrap 2014
August- scrap 2014 and 2010
September- December scrap current and 2009 and before
Whoa-this is looking more like a full time job!! I cannot even begin to count how many pages that will add up to, and it will be fun to read this post in December and see just what I really got done!!!
Looks like a fun productive year ahead!! Goal for January- 40 pages!

I will be in for 2014..... I think I will go with 200 pages for the year. That rounds out to about 16 a month give or take the cropping months and the busy times of the year when I don't get anything scrapping wise done!!

I finished 2013 with 211 pages! My best year so far.

We're going out to dinner with my DH's sister & her DH. Hope to scrap when we get back or at least tomorrow! I didn't make my 2013 goal but it was certainly more pages than I would have done without support from my SCS friends! Thanks to all & Happy New Year!

Well ladies, I'm hoping to get pages done in 2014 on a regular basis. I did do a digi album in 2013 and attended two crops and one mini weekend at a friends so I did get pages done. I just don't know my official count.

2013 has brought some major changes at our home, so I'm hoping to bring some regular scrappy therapy into my personal time to cure the topsy turvy that is life these days.

DH has decided that someone else's marriage is better for him than ours, so he filed papers and moved out in Feb. Will probably have finalized paperwork by Jan or Feb. :( My boys are spending time with him tonight, so I'm hoping to organize life and some scrappy time (if I don't fall asleep first!)

The boys and I celebrated New Years Eve Eve last night with a dinner of lobster and steak then games, a movie, sparkling grape juice, goody bags and junk food (pizza rolls.) I think we were tucked in by 10:00. ;) It was fun and I'll just be thinking of tonight as just another Tuesday night! (I sent them off with a hershey kiss and told them to have it before bed- it's a midnight kiss from mom.)

I hope to check in through out the night, but I know I'm more productive if I stay away from my computer ...controlled pinterest and facebook may need to be my changes for 2014. I'm also heading back to work in two weeks, so I'll need to be diligent with my planning and my time to may it all work without chaos.

Wishing you all a blessed and happy New Year in 2014!

I've updated my numbers & 2014 annual goal in my signature. I reduced my goal so it'll be more attainable!

Talking Happy New Year!

Welcome 2014!

Happy New Year Scrappy Sisters!

I'm looking forward to another scrappy year together I finished about 6 pages after I posted my 2013 Total of 212 so all total I did 218. I have realized that I'm in a different Scrap situation than previous years, I don't have as many photo ops any more with my boys being off to college. I do have older picts I need to start working on more regularly but I can back off some. It will help since I'm taking college classes still and my work life doesn't seem to be settling down.

I think I'm going to make my annual goal 144 and see how it goes

Happy New Year Everyone!

I am in for the new year with a goal of 60 again. I am like Lela, with not so many photo opps anymore, now that DH and I have basically settled into an empty nested routine. But with our first grandbaby just waiting to bless our lives and another wedding approaching, I am very certain that I soon will be back at my desk with photos galore....

My word for the year is going to be... FREEDOM.

And even though my heart is very full today and could write a long saga as to why freedom is my word of choice, I will simply say... "Freedom to find Myself" is something that I have learned to treasure this past couple of months. And as i set my goals for the new year, i am looking forward to spending my free time this year exploring my freedom options. Many of which will probably be shared here...

My theme for 2014.... "Lots to be seen in 2014"... So let's bring on the new year!

Reading through all the posts, it seems that we all have a little in common (not to mention our passion for scrapping). With one DD just starting college this past fall and my youngest DD (who's going to be a HS Senior this fall!) my photo ops are dwindling as well. I'm at a point in my life journey as a stay-at-home-mom that I can recreate my career options (which I've been giving a lot of thought to lately). It can be overwhelming sometimes. I would love to do something creative but realistically (in our area) there isn't much available.

My DH & I are talking about building a new home so it should be interesting to see if we actually do it (we've have the property for several years now and keep putting it off). We've decided it will be our 'empty nester' house. So between making some updates to sell our current home and the possibility of building, it should be an exciting year!

For my first time setting goals, I'm going to set my pages goal at 135 for the year and my card goal is going to be 75.

Wow, I'm in awe of those that have scrapped over 200 pages!! And kind of sad reading about the empty nesters - I'm so not ready for that. My boys are 12 and 14 and I'm hoping I can slow down time!! Valerie - sorry to hear about hubby and I hope you get lots of creative therapy in 2014!!

I met my goal in 2013 (78 pages for my 75 goal) and I am in again for 2014!!! I will set my goal at 100 this year. I have a scrapbook retreat this month so hoping to get a lot done. I will set my January goal to 15 -- and hope I can reach it! Thank you Lela for continuing this awesome challenge!!!

Here's wishing everyone a Happy, Scrappy, New Year!!!

Me too Cori. It's awesome to see so many pages being scrapped this past year. And I love seeing those of you that are finding the time to come back and with it, there will be lots of inspiration for those of us that will need it Now if I can just MAKE the time to be creative.. That will be my challenge for 2014. I actually had some relatives ask me if I was going to make my christmas cards this year since they missed handmade birthday cards from me. So I've made the resolution to at least make some more cards, especially for those that do appreciate them.

Valerie..I'm so sorry to hear about your marriage too. I know from personal experience how much that has to hurt and I hope you do find those things in your life that will help you day by day and that it won't take a long time to heal. Scrapping and remembering the good times and making new good times with your boys will hopefully help.

Anavon..It's great to hear that your family is expanding yet again..You're gonna make that new baby a super grandma! My niece just had a baby a month early (only 4 lbs 3 oz) and I got to meet him last night for the first time. He's only 16" long..such a tiny little guy. Cute though!

Ann...good luck if you do decide to build a new home. My husband and I designed our home and had it built and it's the best thing we ever did. That should really make 2014 exciting if you do!

Valerie in SC...I'm looking forward to seeing your scrappy pages...And I had wondered how your family was doing...so sorry to hear of your dad's passing though.

I love hearing how all my "invisible" friends are doing these days. Makes my boring work filled days have a little brightness in them knowing that I can chat with you all online since I don't seem to have any time to chat with "live" friends anymore.

Here's wishing you all a happy, prosperous, safe and healthy New Year! Now I'm off to take the pork roast out of the crockpot and mash the taters

Well, I may not do these pages as this pace when I go back to work, but I have at least one more day to hang out and scrap- I did 4 pages today, and here are 2 of them. On to the next event in 2013!

I've always scrapped in chronological order, this year I want to start my 2013 album in addition to 2008! I'll only have to scrap 2009-2011 to have a complete set since 1995~ I still have to do my wedding (1993) & honeymoon(Alaska), plus an extra trip to Alaska(1994)! I have an album from the time my DH & I started dating (1986 -1992) so, I'm getting there!!!
I already have a head start with my DD MSU pages! Hopefully, I can continue to pull out some pictures from 2013 to scrap stashbuster challenges! oooh...there's an idea....scrap goal pages from old years and stashbuster challenges from last year! hmmmm...

Well, I did 76 pages of my 100 page goal in 2013. My goal for 2014 is 100 again.
I had a busy, difficult year in 2013. I will try to do more of the challenges this year. After next week, I will be able to participate more!
Nice to see you all! Happy New Year!

Happy new year everyone!
I've got my 2013 total, and my 2014 goals in my signature! I'm going to shoot for 12 pages each month and see where it gets me. Last year I went for a low goal and well exceeded it, and I'm hoping for a similar result this year.
My big news is that I get to quit my lousy day job and trade it for babysitting at home, which works so much better for me. I can get enough done during the day "being a mom" than I could working, lol. And! they take naps so I can craft during that time too! Whoohoo!
I even have a page to link up already- what?! hahaha....I'm excited about that, and loving digi more and more because of it!
New Years Party

We are studying the Old Testament in Sunday School during this new year and I have been working on some more pages of my desk calendar.

Thumbs up January Week #1 Stash Busters

Cheryl (scs: Motherload) asked if I wanted to Guest Host this month for the Stash Busters Challenge Whew, when you start pulling out stash it could be a big project ...at least at my house. I had a tough time selecting what I wanted to use, haha!

This challenge is SO GOOD for getting it pulled out and put on pages.
Here it is Gals: Week #1 of the January Stash Busters Challenge

Wow, so many posts already on this thread. Seems like everyone has lots going on this year, and I just want to start by saying that, even though I haven't met most of you IRL, thanks for sharing your life in pictures with me, for inspiring me, and for allowing me to be part of your life in a small way! I feel like this is a place we can laugh and cry, celebrate and commiserate together. You gals are the best.

Okay, putting away the tissues. On to business. I met my yearly goal for 2013 (100 layouts - 157 pages) by scrapping in the New Year, so really happy about that. I'm setting my yearly goal for 2014 at 100 layouts again, but hopefully I will be more consistent and not have to scrap 7 layouts the last week of the year! My monthly goal for January is 10 layouts. I'm going to try to scrapbook 2012 and 2013 concurrently, scrapping the pictures from January 2012 and 2013 during January 2014, from February 2012 and 2013 in February 2014, etc. If I can keep it up for the year, I'll be ready to start scrapping 2014 in January 2015!

Thanks, Lela, for hosting the Stash Busters challenge for January! Looking forward to scrapping along with you. A big shout-out to Lela and Ann, who both completed their Stash Busters challenge for December (despite holiday busyness)!

Last but not least, I am going to try to complete more SCS challenges this year, so thanks to all those who host challenges. You do a great job, and although it's sometimes hard to complete the challenges that are thematic, I still appreciate the work you put into hosting these.

Hello all and Happy New Year!
I am truly excited to be in a new year.
Out with the old in with the new.

My 2014 goal is to be consistent with my scrapbooking our life. Like a few of you I am also shifting in my family life, and how I scrap. Last year I hit a wall, that decreased my making layouts. I don't have kids at home anymore and life has changed alot. This year I plan to embrace the change and document our life in new ways.
My goal for 2014 is 104 layouts two pages a week. Yay!

Sorry to hear about your chaos in 2013. I look back at that heart-wrenching period in my life when DH and I split (1990), and as with everything else, I survived and feel blessed in my life these days. It's a difficult time but it sounds like you're handling it all well. I love the "kiss" you gave your kids--what a 'sweet' idea!

Good wishes to you for a positive, loving and healing 2014. Glad you're planning to be with us when you can!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Good morning, I'm a bit late getting my 2014 goals together and am not sure what I want to do for 2014 IRL: starting a new job (part-time) around the 13th; DD1 graduates; DD2 will be traveling for lax even more than she has been...so not sure what direction I'm heading :-). I do want to focus on improving my overall health so I will be working on that.

Scrapbooking I am still going to keep it small and aim for 4 pages a month: 48. That's what I did last year and though I went over I don't know if I'll get another chunk of free time like I did this past November. I still haven't gotten to scrap for a while even though I keep planning/hoping; DH & girls go back to school next week and hopefully I can get a few days in before starting the new job! ;-)

I too appreciate all the sharing and caring that happens in this thread. It's been wonderful to 'get to know' you all in a very unique and special way without really meeting many of you. I know we've chatted about getting together and I'm willing to work on it if anyone is ever interested; living where I do (Central Florida) there are plenty of hotels & tourist spots to make it a great vacation!

Looking forward to a fantastic 2014 with very crafty, artistic, and inspirational women!

Wow, it's been fun reading everyone's posts so far! Both happy and sad, it's nice we have a place to share our lives and inspire each other. It's wonderful to have some "old friends" rejoining us and many new friends too!

Although I didn't meet my scrap goal for 2013, I did get a lot done--90, so I think I'll go with 96 pages this year...that's 8 per month.

It's not for want of photo ops that I don't get pages done! I always have photos of my two DGDs, their new nephew, my grand niece, and later this month all five of my mom's kids will be coming to Phoenix to celebrate our mom's 94th birthday. As I mostly digiscrap, I think I'm going to try and make a calendar or 8x8 Shutterfly photobook for everyone after the event, so that should keep me busy!!

Thank you to all our hostesses and to those who do the challenges and make it worthwhile. And thanks to everyone who provides inspiration for me! And a BIG thank you to Lela, who keeps things rolling along on our scrappy threads, even with all she has on her plate of life!

Happy New Year everyone!!

Default Guest Hosts for Digi Scrap Challenges

I almost forgot -- we're reviving the variety challenges in the digiscrap thread and are hoping a few of our digiscrappers would like to guest host a challenge. They will be monthly--the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Terri (3fries), Diane (diane malcor) and I will be hosting, but it would be such fun to have some other digi friends take a month here and there. How about it?

Of course, we'll still have the Progressive Digiscrap Challenges (a task a week for the first 4 wks of each month).

Please think about it, digi gals!!!

Wow, I forgot how busy January is here!! I took a day off yesterday to recover from our trip, I do all the driving then had a family dinner here the day after we returned from NC. I needed a day to my self without DGK's or DK's, TV, or computer!!

I did start a page late yesterday and ready to get back at it!

I set a high goal this year trying to push myself to get more of the older pictures scrapped. Like Lela, I have noticed, especially at Christmas, that I don't take as many pictures as I use to. Ether everything is moving way too fast or I am slowing down, but I'm just not a quick with my camera anymore and NO ONE wants to slow down enough to take semi posed photos!!! Anyway, I'll see how it goes. I have a feeling that I am really going to have to push myself to get 200 pages done this year..........

I didn't get many pages completed last year. It was a pretty rough year for me loosing my dad so soon after my mom passed. But I am full of wonderful memories! I plan to make more me time this coming year and lots of family time. We are expecting two new grandchildren this year so I will have a lot of pictures to scrap! I am making a small goal until I can get back into the swing of things. So I am going for 5 pages this month with a yearly goal of 100. Happy New Year to everyone!

I have some pages from December that I did not get posted while away from home. It took longer using my DS's system, I could not get my camera to work with his computer. I thought I would post them here as both of them are for the Dec stash busters challenge too!

Hello ladies,
I'm new to scrapbooking, thank you to Sewflake for directing me to here. I would love to join you here, I have only ever made one scrapbook page (back in 2012) but I really want to do more, especially as my Mum has her 80th birthday in December this year, so I would love to make a real special one for her.
I can't commit to making lots of pages as I'm only a beginner but I would like to try to make at least one per month.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.
Happy New Year, Teresa x

Welcome Teresa, glad you to see you! There are several "challenges" that can give you ideas of where to start for your page even if you don't join the challenge you can use the inspiration to get you started.
At the top of this thread you will see splitcoast stampers > stamping stuff > splitcoast challenges > scrapbooking > scrapbook goals just click on scrapbooking section of that line and it will take you to all the recent challenges. The sketches is always my favorite place to start when I have no idea where to begin.

Welcome and give us a yell when you have any questions!

Welcome Teresa! (My name is Teresa as well but I usually go by Terry) I did my very first page back in 2006 and then I didn't really scrap seriously until a VSBN event here on SCS in 2008. The ladies on this thread were so nice and encouraging that I've been scrapping ever since! So glad you decided to come join in the fun. They'll give you lots of inspiration.

I think this year I'm only going to challenge myself to complete at least one page per month and if I do more than that, it'll be a bonus! I didn't do so well in 2013. With all the business/family commitments, I just never seemed to find a big enough lot of time to be creative and 2014 is shaping up to be the same.
