Hi ladies, I want to share a few things with you all. In 2014 I will not be doing the optional challenge, unless I get feedback that you ladies want to continue with it. I understand that lots of us(including myself) send cards from our stash...this is perfectly fine and welcomed. Therefore, it is not a lot of interest in the challenge.

Also, I am looking for "causes" for 2014, please PM me if you know of an organization that would like to be spotlighted.

I have enjoyed very much giving you ladies totals for each month and the grand total for the year. It is more about the gift of cards and not the amount, but I am blown away at what we can accomplish together as a group; THANK YOU! So, I will start a thread in the New Year for that.

Please do let me know if I can answer any questions you may have!

Teresa thank you for all the work and effort you continue to put in to this group! I have to share that when I read who this month's recipient was my heart went thud and I trembled because my father was just placed on hospice care at his long term care home last week. We had a nice visit with him over the Thanksgiving holiday and will go back again this coming weekend. Please keep him and my mother in your prayers. We have a big family event planned for Dec 28th and are praying they will both make it to that date. Making cards every night after work is like therapy for me and this month will be extra special. Thank you so much!

I surely hope your Dad recovers, I will certainly keep in in my prayers. Hospice is WONDERFUL, I know they have came to the aid of so many people. It is very near and dear to me heart as well.

Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement too, it really means so much to me. I have enjoyed C4AC more than you guys will ever know! I look forward to the New Year!

What a great cause! I'm hoping to be able to participate this month...seems like every month I get busy and don't have time...but I'm finding more time for stamping because as stated - it's a form of therapy for me. I hope to participate more in 2014. I feel bad sometimes because I only have a handful of cards to send and I read how people are sending 10-15-20+ cards....but I guess the truth is that even 3-4 is helpful when it comes to the cause. So I'll do what I can.

Praying for your family - your father, mother, and you too!

Teresa, you're AMAZING! You're excitement and dedication to the group is inspiring!!! If you need a cause anytime in 2014 - I'm sure the pregnancy center would love to receive cards again. Every time I drop some off I hear about how lovely the cards were that were sent for their month - they were so impressed! They even mentioned it from the platform at the volunteer banquet this year!!!

Zella, Please do not feel bad about the numbers...REALLY...even if you send 1 card, that is one smile on someones face and that is something to be happy about! You are awesome! I like to look at us as a group and together we can make a HUGE difference...thank you all!

I will surely be in touch to spotlight the Pregnancy center.

It seems there have been several comments in the last few months about the amount of cards being sent per person. The person that gets the card you made has no idea how many cards you sent. All they know is that someone cared enough to send one to them. I know of one lady in particular that received a handmade card from a social worker after the her husband passed at a hospice. The card had a bird on it. Just so happened that her husband loved to get up early and have his coffee on the porch and listen to the birds chirp. She said she finds comfort in just holding that card especially on the days that she is missing him most. So PLEASE send whatever you can even if it is only one card. You just never know what it may mean to the person that gets it!
Theresa, thank you for all the time and effort you put into this group. I'm sure I speak on behalf of all of us here in saying that we really do appreciate you! Also, my vote is for the optional challenge. I don't have a stash so I just make them and send them. It's nice to have the challenge particularly when I need some new ideas. Thanks again!

Teresa,
My MIL lives in the town next to Titusville! This is a great organization!
I will make and send cards this month-using items from my stash. The cards probably won't have much stamping but I have plenty of embellishments for the needed cards.
I am looking forward to creating the cards. Do we tell you how many cards we sent?

thank you so much for helping out! It is not required to tell how many you sent, if you want to share please do. No gift is to small, it is not to see who can send the most, it is about collectively helping others! THANK YOU

Heart

Ladies,

After reading the posts regarding the cards we send out for Cards for a Cause, I just have to share my own, personal thoughts and feelings.

I am a very spirtual person and believe in a loving, kind God; however, I don't attend or am a member of any particular organized religion. Still, I pray and meditate daily and try my hardest to also be kind and loving. Being a volunteer for a local Hospice here in Columbus, Ohio, and also volunteering on SCS in the BRAK Forum and for Cards for a Cause, I believe that the love we send out...in all it's many forms...comes back to us tenfold, in so many ways.

That being said, everytime I send out a bunch of cards in the Cards for a Cause challenge, I attach a little prayer to each one, asking that God ensure that whatever card is sent on to someone, that it be chosen and sent to just that exact person that "needs" it to fulfill a specific need. Just like what happened to the lady Donna Jenn mentions who received the card with the bird on it when her father, who loved to listen to the birds, passed away. The person who made that bird card had no way of knowing who her card would be sent to and that it would offer such comfort to that dear lady. It's my belief and opinion that God (or whomever you believe in, in all his many, loving forms) is the one who directed (behind the scenes, so to speak) that particular card to be sent, knowing it would give love, peace, comfort, and even joy to the receiver.

I don't think it matters how many cards each of us makes or sends out, it's the love, thought, and reason behind each one that makes it important and count.

So........

Russnzella - Ditto on everyone's comments already said! It doesn't matter how many you send...what matters is the thought, love, and time you put into what you ARE able to send...and that YOU enjoy and receive comfort in making the cards as well. Personally, it's also theraputic to me to create cards as well, it making and sending our cards are serving many, many purposes! ;)

Lilypadsis - My hugs, prayers, and support go out to you and your family. Savor each and every moment while you can and know that your Dad will be comforted by the family surrounding him. Know that when it's his time to go, he will be ready and loved ones already passed on will meet him and make his passing easy, gentle, and full of love.

VaSunshine - Seriously, I know I speak for all of us when I say it, but I don't think it can be said too much, THANK YOU for taking on the responsibility, committment, and organization of Cards for a Cause. I sincerely appreciate you and the work you (and everyone else behind the scenes we don't see/know) put into it.

I'm so proud to be a part of SplitCoastStampers AND this group. Happy, happy holidays to everyone and THANK YOU for being here and doing what you're doing!

Love and Crafty Hugs,
Maggie

Thank you so much for sharing...I am typing through tears, seriously! Very well said, it is truly my heart to give to others and make that ONE special card reach the right person at the right time...so I agree 100%!

I so enjoy all of you ladies and what we accomplish together, I luv being here and bringing Cards 4 A Cause to you each month!

Merry Christmas friends!

hugs all around....mwaaah!

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I almost forgot to pop in and say that 30 cards hit the highway yesterday! Stay safe, warm and cozy this holiday season!

Finally some time to work on this great cause after a busy holiday season! I do hope to help out more in the new year. As others have said, it's great therapy - being creative and sharing our passion with others. And I completely agree on the sentiments above - it really only takes one card to make a difference. Warm holiday wishes to you all!

Teresa,
I completed a few cards but have not mailed them to this cause. Would it be okay to mail them on 1/2/14? Or, should I apply them to the next Cards for a Cause?
Also, I shared the Cards for a Cause basic info with some scrappers on another site. I gave them a link to SC. A few of the ladies are making cards this weekend. Is there a certain theme for Jan cards?

yes, it is perfectly fine to mail cards up until the first week of January. I myself have done this before...thank you kindly.

I will be posting our new cause first thing Wednesday morning, Jan/2014 cause is taking just about any kind of card...more details to come, another great cause!

I didn't get a chance to send cards for Dec causes thinking it's too late - so I donated 30+ cards to on-going cards for a cause. Now I know it's never too late will report later when I did send cards to them.
