How to Convert Silhouette Studio file to svg

I just posted a tutorial on my blog on how to do this. I've been having issues with Silhouette studio print & cut not aligning properly, so I've been coming up with different ways to get around it. This method converts the SS file to svg file type and then I can import it to MTC. It might also be useful to cricut users who use svg files, but want some of the SS files. (I wish I knew a way to get some of the cartridge images and convert to SS - I'll work on it...)

You could use Illustrator too if you have it. I've done it with Illustrator and it works fine.

eta: I have used photoshop to save pdf files as jpeg or png and those can be traced in mtc so that would work too. Now that I think of it.

That will work. I talk about that in the tutorial. I personally found that the trace is better/smoother using the svg rather than autotrace. Inkscape is OpenSource so its free. If you want to get it, I give a link to where you can download it on my blog in the tutorial.

Is anyone that has the Silhouette software able to convert one file to svg for me? I found it for free on a blog and I don't have a Silhouette

You don't need a Silhouette machine to convert the file. All you need are the programs and they are free. You can download Silhouette Studio from the Silhouette America site, and then you can follow my tutorial to convert it to svg. A couple of steps, but its all free. ;)

Thank you. Someone ended up converting it for me. I try not to put too many programs on this laptop because it's not mine.

Thanks for the tutorial I have followed it but I was wondering if if its got scorelines how to I get the files to convert with them as well?

The score lines are usually just dashed lines. You might have to do some manipulation in your cutting software once you import the svg. (Hopefully I understood your question and answered it).
