Challenge Title:Keep it Under Wraps Hostess: Ksnurse (Sheri) Keyword: HYCCT1324 Date: 10/24/2013
Oh My Word!! I just can't tell you how excited I am to be a hostess for HYCCT13. This has got to be one of my fave events at SCS. This is such a blessing to all and it is so wonderful to see all the awesome cards that are going to be brightening up the days of a lot of people. Thank you to all who play along.
My mother was an original Frugalista, 'cept in those days we were just called cheap. I can remember many dresses remade from hers or my aunts clothes, used textbooks covered up with decorated brown paper grocery sacks, etc. I even had a dress once made out of a vintage sheet that she found at a garage sale. She was a master at covering up the original purpose of an object. So in honor of her, we are going to cover something up: a plain spiral notebook, legal pad, composition book etc. and turn it into something pretty.
As a nurse, I always tell my patients to write things down to ask when the Dr. comes around and I would buy stacks of cheap notebooks at dollar store to give them instead of plain charting paper. I want you to make a decorated (altered) notepad of any kind that can be used by the patients to jot notes, keep address of new friends, family to leave notes, journal of their journey, etc. Since this is Breast Cancer Awareness month, please put at least a spot of pink on it.
And just remember: have fun I can't wait to see what y'all come up with!!

And a H-U-G-E squishy hug to all my talented sample makers. You are wonderful!!
Hi all, I forgot to add the links to the challenge so here are some that may help you with this challenge. You don't need to spend a lot of dollars. There are many ways you can do this.
I love making the post it note holders! I did that last year for Christmas gifts! I could do that one. So any kind of book is fine, sketch paper note book is ok?
I found one remaining notepad left in my drawer from a previous project. (I was afraid I was going to have to make a Staples run for this challenge.) Here's my project:
I've hunted the house and I can't find a note pad or post it note pad that hasn't been used .... I actually have not one, not two, not three, but FOUR altered note pads here that I've gotten from other gals from swaps..... MAYBE I can un-alter and re-alter one of those if I just can't wait until my shopping trip a little later today.....
Luckily we are going shopping later today,i ll pick up a few note books what a fabulous idea for a challenge . Cheers
WHAT? You don't have a bin in the storage room that has at least 50 composition notebooks which were purchased at least 9 years ago at the prices of 15 cents each?
What was I thinking?
Home education groups doing stamping activities...that's what I was thinking but my kids grew up too fast...originally I think I purchased 75 so I have used some...

Sheri- awesome challenge, I often need a pad of paper to jot something down- and a friend gave me this brightly colored pad. I decorated it with American Craft's light green polka dot dp, and a bird image from a Lost & Found matstack. Finished with a breast cancer applique and a fabric flower. Here's Spread Your Wings

I unearthed this gorgeous pink notepad, and added an owl- my daughter worked with a raptor rehabilitation center in high school- so there are 2 different papers for the wings. Owls are known for their strength- just ask my daughter- and I thought this was perfect for this challenge. Finished with a Think Pink paper border. Here's Fall Owl

I used fabric to cover a spiral notebook. I made it so the notebook could be changed out.--I hope this is okay. I've been wanting to make something like this for a while. Now, I will have the confidence to make another! Thanks for the great challenge.
Here is my covered notebook .
oh my....I'm so excited and having fun looking at all your wonderful creations...there are going to be some smiling faces receiving these for sure...Such lovely places to leave their messages....

Haha. I guess we homeschooling moms think alike! I'm constantly telling my kids that they don't need to conserve paper as I have REAMS of it stashed downstairs.
I got my notebook done, but had to run out the door without taking photos or uploading and as it was I almost missed my train! I will be able to comment but will not be back home til Saturday.
I have been gone all day and this is the first chance I have had to look at the challenge.
What a wonderful idea! I can hardly wait to get started. I may have to make more than one.
