Here it is--Color Comparison-Spcectrum Noir and Copic
Here are comparisons for some Copic and Spectrum Noir marker colors. I tried to post this with attachments twice yesterday, but when I hit "submit", my screen went blank and it didnt post.
At my request, thecraftysister kindly sent me samples of the Copic colors she owns. Using the same cardstock, I compared them to the (limited) 66 Spectrum Noir colors I own. Some were almost exact, some very close, and some had no match at all. BUT-- I only have 66 SN markers (all the 6-pack sets except "Essentials"), and thecraftysister has 246 Copics.
I only listed the matches I thought were extremely close (33 of them). This is based solely on my opinion. If you have more SN markers and would be willing to send me some samples, please PM me.
The .pdf and .xls files list matches in list form (for example, Copic V12 = Spectrum Noir LV1). The thumbnails are scans of the actual side-by-side color samples. Keep in mind that they will appear differently on different monitors, and print differently on printers.
Thanks to thecraftysister for her fabulously organized Copic samples! Blame me for any disagreements about color matchesit is my opinion only.
On the thumbnails, the columns alternate--first one is Copic, next to it Spectrum Noir match, then another Copic column, then SN... The Copic numbers appear above the samples in black, the Spectrum Noir numbers appear above their samples in red.
Thanks for doing this comparison. I have all the 6 pack SN markers, so that's 72. Then there's 4 more larger packs of SN markers out there. None of the colors overlap in the packs. But SN refills and replacement nibs are available, so that's reassuring.
I also have a 24 pack of Mepxy Markers in the brights. But I don't know how many colorists know or use those markers as well.
Don't own any Copics though. Even individual markers still seemed out of my price range.
Yes, the 24 packs are all different colors. No match to the 6 pack. The 24 packs have 4 different ones, light, pastels, brights, and darks. I have all 4 of them and all are different colors from 6 pack. More to play with.
I am staying neutral on being an enabler, but I will say that it has been very interesting to see samples of ALL the SN colors!
Stay tuned---I am hoping that I will soon (sometime in the next week or so) be able to post a new chart comparing Copic and Spectrum Noir colors. the craftysister got me started by providing samples of the 266 Copic colors she owns. Teatime1 contributed her samples of all of the 24-pack SNs that she owns, and I had all the 6 packs. So I have compared them all and am ready to post an expanded listing. I am traveling right now and my internet connections are spotty, so I'll post as soon as I get time to finish compiling it and can find a good connection.

I officially have all 12 6 packs. Next question, should I think about getting the 24 packs?
Love2craft- I love the sets of 24.
Depending on what you like to color as to which set of 24 you want.
I am finding that the light and pastels really help to enhance the packs of 6 colors that are not real dark. I use the brights a lot also. I am finding for me I don't care for the dark colors as well as the other 3 sets. But still at times the dark set come into play. Just depends on what I am coloring. SO of course you need all of them
I got my 24pks from DickBlick.com They have really good prices to start with, but if you catch a good sale, they can be the cheapest way to go for these sometimes. They shipped really quickly too.
Cheryl- Here is a link to hallmark scrapbooking. They also carry the 24 , their price is 39.95 all the time and sometimes have specials also.www.hallmarkscrapbook.com
Glad I could help enable you.

Thank you for doing this comparison. I have all the six pack, but don't know when I can get the others. I really appreciate this chart. I purchased mine at consumercraft.com the 6 packs are $8.97 and the 24 packs are $34.97. Hope it's alright to put this in the message.
I too am curious if the full comparison ended up getting finished - difficult to get all the markers together in one place really.
I now have all 168 of the original markers but I believe some of the new refill inks (and the marker) are slightly different so that they form a better blend.
Anyone else who is thinking about getting the sets of 24, I would recommend leaving the darks until last as they are the ones I use least too. I do use the lights, brights and pastels a lot as they allow you to get nuances of colour into your blends. For shadowing, you can really get away with the darker greys and some lighter ones from the pastels or lights.
My only real disappointment with my SNs is that the new nibs won't fit in the old markers. I'm thinking about getting a pack of nibs and finding out if they can be modified so I can play with them.

Thanks for that advice! I have just purchased 3 of the six marker sets and have four more on the way to me-then I went to Dickblick and I'm in trouble! All sets are 25% off...how I wish I could just complete my collection. I did have the brights in my cart but will wait on purchasing those now...so it reduces my cart somewhat. hahaha
Hey Cindi ...i saw this link to your page but could you show me the way to the color comparison chart for Copic v Spectrum noir on there as not sure where to navigate to
Just wondering if a full comparison was ever done?? I see people using Copic's R20 a lot for blush and I'm wondering what the SN equivalent is.. Anyone know?
