I just bought my first pair of non-stick scissors and I *love* them!! I'm just kicking myself for not buying them sooner. The ones I got are the EK Success precision tip non-stick scissors from Michaels (coupon!!) and I'm thinking of getting a pair of non-stick Tonic scissors that have the micro-serrated blade as well. (I didn't choose the Tim Holtz scissors because they don't have a fine enough tip.)
If you've been on the fence about buying a pair, get them! They even cut through paper easier and make cutting my generic (gooey) double-stick foam tape a breeze. Whoever thought a pair a scissors could make me so happy? LOL!
I really, really wish there were left handed scissors available with a nonstick coating. (or even precision scissors) Just one would be so nice and I would be willing to pay a lot more for them, since I know re-tooling for lefty blades costs them money.
I wrote Tonic since they make a generic lefty scissor that's decent for the price. I received no reply, but since I never get one about lefty product requests, I wasn't exactly expecting one. It would be so nice if they had a precision scissor that I could actually cut with. I realize that some lefties can make good precision cuts with scissors that have the blades set up for right handers. Unfortunately, I am not one of those lefties. :
Meantime, I practice and practice making precision cuts with a X-Acto blade and steel rulers and curves to guide me as best can.

You're very welcome! I think they are a great investment for not that much money. I can't remember when I first heard of them, but Jennifer McGuire's blog convinced me that they were something I needed.

I am left handed but I cut with my right hand. You should see the looks I get from people. When I was a young girl I use to work in a sewing department. Two of the ladies that would come in all the time would not let me cut fabric for them because they thought it was freaky I cut with my right and write with my left.
I have had my EK Success Honey Bees for several years and would be lost without them for cutting double sided tape and other sticky stuff. Every now and then I dip them in a small bottle of Euculyptus oil, then wipe clean with a tissue. Great purchase. Happy snipping.

Love mine too. Jessrose 21, I have some of the micro serrated ones, they are great, but they DO leave a serrated edge on whatever you cut with them. Fine for ribbon & such, not such a good look for card/paper etc.
I've thought about getting nail scissors from Lefty's for detail work. Unfortunately, they have nothing serrated or teflon-coated. Neither does Anything Left-Handed in the U.K. :(

I came across a teflon-coated pair of scissors in a store about a year ago and I can honestly say that they are one of the best tools I have ever bought! Aside from cutting double-sided tape and a myriad of other things, I use them for cutting the ez-mount super-sticky foam that I adhere to my unmounted rubber stamps - and they work really well: no more sticky goo all over my scissors like I used to have in the past.
If only my clothes were teflon-coated so none of my crafty items like glitter stuck to me LOL!

Since very little I used right handed scissors right handed despite being left handed. Can't cut a straight line to save my life, but I can fussy cut ok. Not sure i'd be able to use l/h scissors. Never used any!
I also have a pair of xcut serrated non-stick scissors and from very early on I marked the serrated side on one of the nuts and always cut with the side to the outside.
I found the Westcott brand of scissors (Titanium Non Stick) are very left handed friendly. I have one pair and I have had no problem using them, they are quite sharp. Being a lefty does present a challenge sometimes.

I too have the Westcott brand, good for left or right hand that aremore "non-stick" even if it doesn't state so on the package - as long as it's titanium. Sometimes Fred Meyer has a 3 pack on special.
My daughter-in-law gave me a pair of the EK Success Honey Bee scissors a few years ago, and I remember thinking that regular scissors would have been fine--I don't need non-stick scissors. Ha! They are so wonderful for cutting anything, but especially tape and adhesive foam squares. I wouldn't want to be without them now!

I write with my left and cut with my right too. Confused my grade school teachers who would supply me with lefty scissors and I couldn't use them. I also use the mouse with my right hand. And for other things like sports eg. golf, baseball... I have to try both ways to see which works best because I forget... but usually neither way helps in my game LOL! My daughter is a pure lefty and my son, who is quite artistic, is right handed. My mother could use both hands equally well as a child and could adeptly write backwards and forwards with both. But they made her stop using her left. And to this day she can't tell her left from her right.
Love my little Tonic scissors BTW I like the black coating as there is no glare from the metal. I have a corneal disease where glare is a BIG issue.
Has anyone tried these new scissors yet? Kind of pricey but if they make chipboard cut like butter (as they claim), they may be worth it. Let me know your thoughts! :-)

I'm another lefty that cuts with my right hand. My all time favorite scissors are the Fiskars Softouch Micro-Tip. I just wish those came in a non stick also. These cause my wrist way less strain than regular scissors.
I love my Honey & Cutter Bees. I have the non stick scissors (black blades) and the very sharp and pointy fussy cuts (silver blades).
But I have 2 pairs of Tim Holtz micro serrated scissors (red flexible handles). One in the kitchen, those babies go right through blister plastic, wire, skewers, etc and the other is in my studio for cutting thick backer board for books, wire, thin metal sheeting, some chain, plastics and I even use them to cut wood veneer.
I have no idea how I did anything before buying the Cutter & Honey Bees and Tim Holtz scissors.

I purchased a pair of the Tim Holtz Tonic Studio non-stick Sizzors to cut EZ-Mount. However, They do stick and I have to constantly clean them off with alcohol. I recently was given 2 pair of Kai stainless sizzors. The are really the best for EZ-Mount and they are no less non-stick than the Tim Holtz. :confused:
I also have a pair of Cutterbee non-stick. They are great for detail work. :p
