I've started a new board where I am putting the original pins that inspired me alongside the cards I've made based on the inspiration pieces. The annoying thing is that the cards keep getting shuffled around so that they're not next to the inspiration pieces. Is there any way to move things around within your boards?
Sorry if this is a dumb question....I'm pretty much a newbie at the pinterest thing, but I'm loving having all the inspiration.
No not at this time, I'm afraid Pinterest have total control at this time. Let them know what you want and they consider it for future updates. I have contacted them before to suggest changes (not that they did what I suggested). But they did reply and explain their logic.
The way items are arranged on the board is that the newest batch go across the top row, then in order according to the HIGHEST open space. So because the spacing changes with each item you add, they appear to shuffle around the board. It's logical but annoying!
I'd like to be able to arrange my pins on the boards too, but I think I'd like to be able to check my boards for duplicates even more! I know I don't pin any MORE duplicates since they now tell me if I already have one, but I know there's old duplicates galore on my boards ;)
Gail...
I went to your board...SO much fun! The inspiration is still close to the card you made...and everyone who knows what you're doing will be able to figure it out without much trouble.
I love your pin board. I don't go to pinterest often, but I think I'd like to follow that board. Someone would have to explain to me what that actually entails though. I'm clueless.
Gail, another thing you can do is pin your inspiration photo first. Then click on it to get the Pinterest link for it or the original link of where you found your inspiration if you want. Then, put that link in your description when you pin your cards or item you made. Won't matter so much now but down the road as your board grows, it will make it easy to find your inspiration piece. You can put links within your description on Pinterest as long as you put the "http://" at the beginning. If you leave it off, sometimes they won't make an actual link.
Also, if you put something like "Inspired by" or "Inspiration Piece" at the beginning of your description on the photos that are your inspiration, viewers will be able to look at your board at a glance and know which ones are your inspiration pieces and they will easy be able to see the ones you made that go with it.
I wish we could "arrange" our boards however we want, with just a drag-and-drop. I don't know if it's OCD or something else, but I have a pathological need to put things in order.

I love your inspiration board! (I must follow... I did follow ) what a great idea, and as mentioned, it is still easy to tell what inspired you. Something very appealing about the pictures near each other.

If you go to the board you want to follow, there should be the words Follow Board under the Pinterst logo. Just click on that, and everything the pinner posts in future will show up on your home board. If you click on a pinners name, it will take you to their main page with all their boards listed. It also has the word follow on each thumbnail image of the boards a pinner has, if you only want to follow individual boards from a person.Hth
Thanks for explaining-I barely know how to do the things I'm doing on Pinterest and I have no idea how to explain anything about it! Still a newbie for sure, but I really love the inspiration I gain from the site for my stamping and cooking! My oldest DD is married and moved away and I like to send her pins as I see them too!

You can rearrange your boards by using the drag and drop: click and hold on the title of the one you want to move. Then by dragging your mouse or using the arrow keys on your keyboard, you can move the board any where you wish.

I meant drag and drop the pins within the board. But it's good to know I can move my boards around like that. That means they might give us that option for pins, too.
