HYCCT1328 I Clearly Care Chat Thread
Challenge Title: I Clearly Care
Hostess: StampingQueenJAR aka Judy
Keyword: HYCCT1328
Date: Monday, October 28, 2013
Welcome to the 4th Annual Hope You Can Cling To challenge and card drive! What an uplifting time of the year for cardmakers!
I hope you will play along in my challenge today, as there are a lot of opportunities and ways to meet the "clear" requirement!
My challenge to you today is called "I Clearly Care" and it is to create a card that shows you "clearly care" -- stamping on acetate, plastic, shaker cards, with glaze, etc. - with shades of pink somewhere , of course!
There are so many fabulous tutorials in the Tutorials section if you would like to try something new, or need to remember how to do something.
Because there are so many that work, I couldn't link them all here, but in the search bar on that page, type acetate or shaker and see all the fun things that come up! Here is the Tutorials link.
Thank you for playing along! Special thanks to my amazing sample makers and stamping friends, Dina, Jennifer, Kathy, Sheri, Stacy and Lee! All of the details for sending in your cards and where the galleries are, are below!

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. All Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Entries must be uploaded to the Hope You Can Cling To Gallery , with the specific challenge keyword, no later than November 7th, 2013 at 12:00 Noon Central Time to be eligible for our fabulous prizes! Post a link to your entry in this thread.
2. You may not combine challenges, but you are welcome to create multiple cards for each challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
4. Please package all challenge entries with an envelope, protected with a clear plastic bag and mail them to our partner at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center to benefit patients being treated for breast cancer and their family. We would like for them to receive cards throughout the month of October, but we understand if you'd like to mail all your cards at once.
5. Since these cards will be used by visitors for patients, most should be blank inside, but feel free to send cards with messages of hope for the patients in addition to your challenge cards!

(Please note - because MD Anderson is part of the State of Texas, they ask that no religious sentiments be used on cards sent to the Cancer Center)
Thank you for participating in this card drive!

I'm definitely going to have to think outside of the box on this one. Can't find any acetate! What I do have are the harder plastic covers nesties and other things come in that I've saved in my stash.... Now what can I come up with????? Maybe something similar to Stacy's????

Lynn, that works too. Most any plastic will take Stazon ink.

I will be hoping to have time to look through files of saved pages from magazines to make the card I originally thought of for this challenge, but in the meanwhile I had fun making a magic card this morning , since I'd already made a shaker card for the Elvis challenge.

It's been a while since I made one of these! Thank you for such a fun challenge today, Judy.

So far I've found that you can cut that thin plastic with a Nestie and I have stamped an image on it with Stazon. I'm now waiting for it to dry and then I'll figure out a card layout...

A true challenge, Judy. I usually avoid acetate since there are mounting problems and Stazon ink which I really rarely use(clean-up, precise stamping, mess, etc.). BUT, I had fun creating a card this time. : )

My first thought when I saw the title was something that a person can see through...then I saw your username and I thought of a clear jar...such as I think I have SU jar with bugs...or the pill jar that i saw Cook22 use on a card recently...
SO...is it okay to go with that thought though I wouldn't use acetate on my card?

Here's my card for today's challenge
Lynn's HYCCT1328 I Clearly Care Note Card by muzbysmom - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
I did stamp the image onto the plastic case from a Nestie Die set but backed it onto white rather than have the clear only showing white behind it from the inside of the card. Not sure why I did it that way but plastic was used and was stamped on.....

Luckily I had some acetate so I went looking in the tutorial section of SCS. I chose Beate's acrylic smash technique for my card.

I had a disaster when I was making this card. It may not go to M.D. Anderson, but I'm uploading it here just the same. Up to the disaster point, I loved it.

a substitute
I used the plastic that my glue dots adhered to for my heat embossed image- and just was careful with the heat. Hope that helps Quote: Originally Posted by muzbysmomI'm definitely going to have to think outside of the box on this one. Can't find any acetate! HYCCT1328 Just For You
I used SU's Perfectly Preserved set plus matching dies for my main image, adding a tag for fun. For my clear image, I mounted my heat embossed mouse onto parchment paper with a flower pattern (thanks Becky!). Added some embellishments from CM's Think Pink; along with a tissue paper loop. Here's Just For You

This is a great challenge. I have a whole package of acetate sheets I bought last year on a clearance sale. I was so eager to use it and for some reason didn't. Now I see so many ideas in the tutorials. I may be playing with this all day. My first card is finished and I will be uploading it a little later.

HYCCT1328 Sending Loads of Love
I did a little field trip, and picked up some report covers inexpensively at Goodwill. I then used these for my heat embossing (tried baggies, they crinkle and melt with the heat gun). I used a jumbo wheel from Stampin Up for my clothesline, and my animals come from TE's Critters from the Forest collection. I put a sponged sky panel behind my clothesline, which has a "stained glass" effect due to the application of color markers. Finished with 2 pairs of clothespins, they help anchor the plastic to the card, too- and a foam heart. Here's Sending Loads of Love

This challenge made me think. I had several versions of this gumball machine before I figured out how to make it into a shaker box. Yep, it's one of "those" days.
I know there is a way to make the gumball machine into an actual working machine. It's just been a while since I've done this.
Here is my card .

Here is my card for I Clearly Care. It was based on the inspiration of Irene's card, Life's Most Beautiful . I really like hers and how clean and direct it is.
