Welcome to Teapot Tuesday
the Sisterhood of the Traveling Teaparty
and Challenge #268
All For One and One For All; Patriots Heard the Call
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
The Rest of the Story:
1: We've all heard the quote, "Freedom isn't Free". No one knows this better than our service men and women. They do such a good job that most times, we never give much thought to all the sacrifices they make to provide us with that freedom. In the past year, I've had the honor of helping a couple write their story down so it won't be forgotten like so many of our warriors have been. This lovely couple were both veterans, she an Army nurse and he an Air Force pilot. At their passing, I'm reminded of a poem that I found some time back:
The Cost of Freedom
by Ron Tranmer
He died serving our country,
in a land far away.
He gave his life for freedom.
They buried him today.
He loved family more than life,
and had to do whats right.
To protect them and his country,
he joined in the fight.
Next time you see a soldier,
dont just pass him by.
Thank him for his service.
He might be next to die.
How great the cost of freedom.
How brave those who defend.
Protect them Lord, that they may
safely come back home again.
2: What better way to remember them and all those who lost their lives on Sept 11; than to thank those still fighting to preserve our freedom.
Challenge Translation:
Bring thank you cards, super hero cards, flag cards, anything you can think of to say thanks to our wounded warriors for their service.
Special note no glitter or envelopes, just a personal thank you note written inside the card.
EPEC: extra points for extra cookies:
How about extra cookies if you make an extra one...yeah, that sounds good.
Destination Station:
This week we are sending our cards to North Carolina to an SCS member
DLS881 who has an amazing side job. She is the volunteer coordinator for Operation Quiet Comfort. This group makes and sends care packages to combat support hospitals for our wounded warriors. She has graciously agreed to take as many cards as we can send and put in the packages of support.
to get the address to mail your card, please visit
post 369 in the Teapot Tuesday Destination Station thread. Please remember that just because you participate in a Teapot Tuesday challenge that is combined with a card drive request, it does not mean that you are REQUIRED to send your cards. It is totally 100% voluntary!
