Interesting challenge. So, you brayered the various colors of ink onto your leaf, then what? Pressed the leaf onto the card? Did you brayer the back of the leaf to get an impression? Just need a little help understanding this technique. Thanks.

I can't speak for Judy but there's no brayer required the way I do this. I usually use the side of the leaf that has the veins most prominent and just dab my ink pad onto it (put the leaf on a non stick mat or some scrap paper since you're inevitably going to get ink right outside the edges of it). Then just flip the leaf over and use your fingers to press the inkiness onto your stamping paper.
HTH!
Wish I had time to play today as I love leaf shapes but I don't think it's going to happen!

Thanks for the tips on what inks to use, Judy! I was wondering about that - I could remember using paint when we were kids, but I was pretty sure the waxy finish on leaves would resist my beloved distress inks.

Val - I have yet to make a card, but I've just been playing. I tried inking my leaves as Joanne describes, and then I put my cardstock on a Big Shot plate, laid the leaves on top, ink side to the paper obviously, then the top plate and ran it through the BS. It's worked beautifully - just take the thicker stems off the leaves first!!

Enormous fun, Judy!
Now I have to go and do the vacuuming and wash the floors, but I'm glad DH needed a lie-in this morning and I had to play quietly up in my craft room, LOL.

Lots of ways to do this. I pressed my leaf into my ink for the yellow, and then just pressed it on the paper with my fingers. Same with Pumpkin. For the Artichoke ink, I brayered the other side. And covered it with cardstock, then pressed the cardstock down. Just was trying different things.
As you can see from the other responses, they did even different things!
Sabrina - the distress ink worked on the non-waxy side on my "play first" try. I decided to go with dye on both of my leaf sides for my sample though. My distress inks were too light (and not the right colors I wanted!).

Thanks Joanne, Judy & Sabrina for the tips on applying ink to the leaves. Now I just need to find a leaf or two. I live in a fairly new development and we don't have many trees. I do have big leaves blow into my doorway every so often though. Never know where they come from.
Off to find a leaf...

How fun was this!!! I just put my leaf on a piece of scrap paper and rubbed the inkpad across it several times. Then put leaf on the card and rubbed the back with my fingers. Here's my card:

I can't say I'm proud of this card, but I gave it a try. I hope I can wash the ink off my arm before I have to go out in public. LOL!

Judy, this was so fun! I picked leaves off my Rose of Sharon, and inked them up and made a great background. I thought it turned out well! Here is my card.
