My husband ordered a book for me through interlibrary loan recently. It's not the one I wanted, but decided to read it anyway as it was a small book. What I discovered, unlike most cemetery books I've read, is that this one also included the inscriptions carved into the tombstones below the person's name. I was wondering if a large tombstone, arbor, or gate stamp would accommodate these sentiments handwritten or generated on the computer? I wouldn't necessarily use these on a card, but perhaps they would be more appropriate for a memorial page in a heritage scrapbook album. And oh, don't forget to, at the very least, to journal the person's life dates and perhaps include the obituary.

"Remember friends as you pass by
As you are now, so once was I,
As I am now, so you shall be,
Prepare for death and follow me."
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Budded on earth to bloom in heaven.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
The golden gates were opened,
A gentle voice said, "Come,"
And with farewells unspoken,
He calmly entered home.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
One more angel at Jesus' feet.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
A loving husband,
A father dear,
A kind friend
Is buried here.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
In heaven there is one angel more.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
A light is from our household gone,
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home,
That never can be filled.

In His Hands
~~ <> @ <> ~~
My Head and Stay is called away
And I am left alone.
My husband dear, who was so near
Is fled away and gone.
It breaks my heart, It's so hard to part
With one who was so kind
Where shall I go to vent my complaints
Or ease my troubled mind?
~~ <> @ <> ~~
How soon fades the tender flower.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Sleep on, dear child,
and take thy rest,
God called thee home,
He thought it best.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Love's last tribute.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
'Tis hard to break the tender cord
When love has bound the heart,
'Tis hard, so hard, to speak the words,
We must forever part.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Asleep in Jesus.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
We loved her, yes, we loved her
But the angels loved her more
And they have sweetly called her
To yonder shining shore.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Darling, we miss thee.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
There is a bright region above
We long to reach its shore
To join the dear ones we love
Not lost but gone before.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Sweetly resting
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Peaceful be thy silent slumber
Peaceful in thy grave so low
Thou no more will join our number
Thou no more our sorrows know.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
A sunbeam of Jesus.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
We miss thee from our home, dear mother
We miss thee from thy place,
A shadow o'er our life is cast
We miss the sunshine of thy face.
We miss thy kind and willing heart
Thy fond and earnest care,
Our home is dark without thee
We miss thee everywhere.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Blessed are the pure in heart
For they shall see God.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Dearest loved one
We must lay thee
In this early grave.
Thy memory will be cherished
Till we see Thy heavenly face.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Suffer the little children to come unto me,
For of such is the kingdom of heaven.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
An affectionate wife,
A loving mother,
An upright Christian,
'Twas God who called thee
From Earth to Heaven.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
In My Father's House are Many Mansions
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Lonely is the house and home
Since our dear one has gone
But in one brighter than our own
Heaven is now thy home.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
The Lord is My Shepherd
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Died on the field of battle
T'was noble theirs to die
Sad smiles on valiant soldiers
His record is on high.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
They that doeth good are of God
Rest in peace dear one.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
I fought the good fight
I have finished the course
I have kept the faith
And there is laid up for me
The crown of righteousness
Which the Lord, the righteous judge,
Shall give me in that day!
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Having finished life and duty
She now sweetly rests.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
She's gone to God, Angels greet thee,
Gone to join the Seraph Band.
Who are springing to meet her,
In the glorious spirit land.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
A little angel of love.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Father, I gave my spirit
I trust it in Thy hand
My dying flesh shall rest in hope
And rise at Thy command.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
To Him we trust -- as grace is given
Among the saints with Christ in heaven.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Dearest father, thou hast left us
Here thy loss we deeply feel
But 'tis God that hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
killed by nephew, Willie boring
~~ <> @ <> ~~
We loved this tender little one
And would have loved her stay
But let our Father's will be done
She's resting in endless day.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away,
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
There is no death,
The Stars come down
To rise upon some fairer shore,
And bright heaven's jeweled crown
Shall shine forevermore.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Now I lay me down to sleep. . .
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Sleep Father dear, and take your rest,
God called thee home, He thought it best.
Twas hard indeed to part with thee
But Christ's strong arm supporteth me.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
RIP -- Rest in Peace.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
A loved one has gone from our circle,
On earth we'll meet her no more,
She has gone to her home in heaven,
All her afflictions are o'er.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Got a safety pin in his nose --
Wasn't cause of death.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Gone, but not forgotten.
~~ <> @ <> ~~
Goodbye, Pa!
