TLC443 ~ Freestyle Design ~ (8/19/13)
Hello everyone..it's my turn to host this weeks Technique Lover's Challenge and my challenge is something completely different for some of you. We are going to do a little Freestyle Design .
So, you ask...what is Freestyle Design. Well, it's exactly what the name implies...a free and spirited approach to designing a card. We are going to let our creative minds fly today!!
Freestyle Design is a process of adding elements, layers, stamped images, die cuts...anything that strikes your fancy to create your masterpiece!!
Here are the deets:
1. First of all, there are no rules!!!!
2. You can use stickers, stamps, buttons, chipboard, feathers, fabric scraps, flowers..what ever you have sitting on your work desk, in your embellie box, on the floor, or in the trash!!
3. It's usually asymmetrical or off set
4. Gather your elements and layer them into a cluster.
5. Play around with the design before you adhere them...that way you can get the look you want .
6. If you want a flat design to mail...use flat, small elements like sequins, ribbons, flat flowers, burlap, felt, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, etc.
7. If you want a CAS design, use fewer elements
8. Have fun!!!

Just Because

Well Joan, your card is just gorgeous! I know I'll have trouble pulling this one off but from studying yours I've already learned to go for a couple of colours to work together. Housework day today, but I'll try to find some time somewhere to play along later.

Joan, at first I thought my CAS card for today might combine with your challenge, but after reading your description carefully I can see there is a difference between "free hand" and "free style".

IDK if this is "freestyle design" or not.
It's a large cluster...what do y'all think?

TLC443 Freestyle with Scraps
I had fun pulling out a box of scraps that sits on my desk. And this was serendipitous - only last night I die-cut those two felt flowers from the felt bads left over from the Polished Stone DTGD challenge.
But I can't neglect the housework any longer as DH has company tonight, so I'll be along later to see what everybody else came up with.

Joan this was really fun..I like doing collages and this was very much like doing one of those...I love the "pick up what you have on hand" aspect of this..I kind of do that anyway

Ok, maybe I didn't read through the technique enough, or maybe my freestyle is so CAS (Just a sentiment) because the background was so complicated. How I interpreted the challenge was to freestyle the cutting of my cathedral window.

Read a Book!
Thank you Joan for a great challenge this week. I was so happy to be able to enter my card and play along.
How about a little suitcase loaded with reading adventure using one of the new stamps from the Sweet n Sassy Bookmark Bits and Pieces August Release Set.
Happy Reading!

Free style is something I should do more of. It was fun to not have any rules. I could of put more things on my card, but I didn,t.

Hi Joan! First time participating in the challenge. Here is my free-style, CAS card. It's an anniversary card I made for my hubby celebrating our 9th anniversary. I used an old photo from our Hawaii honeymoon trip as my inspiration piece to recreate this scene.
