Challenge Title: Crack and Stitch
Hostess: Scrapacat aka Ky
Keyword: MIX29
Hello and welcome to another Mix-Ability challenge here on Splitcoast! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!
If you want to start these challenges in the pages of an art journal, instead of a card, or on scrapbook pages, or on 3D items - please know - ANYTHING is welcome! We want you to learn and enjoy!
My challenge today is a fun one that has lots of options. I want you to make something cracked and something stitched. There are tons of crackle techniques out there. Here are a few:
Your stitching elements can be hand drawn ink doodling, stitching stamp images, or actual sewing. For bonus points (come on now, it's just for fun!), break your cracked image and sew it back together!
My goal with this challenge is for you to push yourself and try something new. Have fun with it!

So, since you've listed Dina's tutorial, faux crackle is OK, I take it? I have that IO backgrounder ;-).
My first thought was faux barn board (there's a tutorial in Resources here, very similar to your white glue link) but since I've had two failures and only one successful attempt I'm not sure I have time for that today. I can't even remember which of the several glues I tried gave me the successful attempt, sigh...
Something to look forward to for when I get home from work - thank you.
I am trying to catch up on all the Mix challenges. Today, I am able to add an entry in a timely manner!
Thanks to everyone here for being such a great inspiration! This challenge has had a great influence on my crafting. I don't always upload right away. And I often combine challenges -- but refuse to put keywords for more than one mix challenge at a time. There are some techniques that stay in the back of my mind as I work on new creations.
One example is the challenge about color... to use all warms, with a touch of cool. Or vice versa. I've done that one a lot. Or being aware of using muiltiple types of surfaces. Or doing ying/yang 1 and 2 a lot.
Anyway, today I could play on time and be part of the pack. Thanks for being here
Ack, same sort of epic failure here as last week with Dina's.
I have some slightly crackled /peeled chipboard petals which I might be able to work with tomorrow, but after half an hour stitching an outline for them on my base I tried one thing too many on the base and it's in the bin. And I'm out of energy and imagination.
So much for trying something different ; I should have stuck with cracked glass, at least I know I can do that.
I had some crackle paint just waiting to be tried out....I forgot the stitching so I had to pull my card apart and stitch the panel to a frame. Vintage Joy
Wow! You've all been busy, and I love what I'm seeing! I wanted to update the info - I did a step by step photo tutorial for the white glue crackle process. It can be found by following this link:
I also posted a step-by-step photo tutorial for last week's ATC on blowing ink. I took liberties and chose to 'crack' the tulle by tearing a piece off, and used a stamped faux stitching image.
MIX 29 MIX-ing up a Grungy Christmas
I'll take a better photo in the daylight tomorrow.
Bedtime here! I went for tried and trusted Cracked Glass this time round, mixed media lite.
Hardcore mixed media takes more time than I have just now ;-).

But you TRIED it! I think that's awesome in itself. I totally understand the one-thing-too-many bit. Hee hee - don't you dare look in my trash bin!

Just FYI: if anyone tries something and it doesn't work, or you mess it up at the last bit, you can still post it in this thread. I am really thrilled to see what you did, or answer any questions at any point.
Rah rah sis boom bah! And all that...

You ALL are doing wonderful work! I know several people are so focused on the crackle that the stitch part gets left off. That's OK! I still struggle with forgetting challenge elements. The goal of all of this is to get you pushing yourself a little. I love seeing your work, regardless. Keep in mind that if you take your kiddo (maybe your grown kiddo ;) ) to the ER, they may get STAPLES rather than STITCHES.

I'm easy like that. I'd rather see you try *something* than have you not sharing even if it's your worst outcome. We can all learn from one another.

This was really fun! I made a card and added stitching! I almost forgot again! LOL. almost! This technique is perfect for Halloween, too!
Thank you for a fun challenge!
