ideas for card storage??

I sure would love to hear what everyone uses to store their cards. I didn't have that probably til now. Lately, I've been making quite a few cards and I find when they're rubbing up again each other, the ribbon and other embellishments are coming off. I would love to hear different ways of storing them. Thanks in advance.

I had purchased the card storage containers from Michaels, but they are just too small for my needs (yep, I have THAT many cards!)!! So I have switched to the double deep Artbin containers

I can fit 2 rows of most cards that I make and can customize the dividers to the depth that I want for each type of card.

I have one for Christmas cards, one for other Holiday cards, one for Birthday, one for Misc (includes Get Well, Thank You, Graduation, Mothers Day and Fathers Day), one for no sentiment and one for generalized sentiments (Friend, Thinking of you, etc).

I also store them in the clear envelopes with a paper envelope so that they don't get hung up on each other and take an embellishment off. I also have a tight storage space.

I have a box that I purchased at Joanns that is actually used to store patterns in! Works ok! I was also looking on Pinterest, good ideas on there too!

You can also try the photo boxes that most of the craft stores sell. Like xayide2, it helps to keep them in a clear sleeve to prevent rub off.

How about using ziploc bags to store. They are sturdy enough to re-use.

For an inexpensive box, one of the DVD sized boxes or cardboard gift boxes. As a bonus, they are pretty.

Since I unmounted my wood stamps I've been using those cases to store cards

I like pretty baskets with the cards in individual envelopes, organized by catagories; usually more then one baskets. Just love pretty baskets

I too use clear photo sleeves. I like the idea of putting them in storage boxes (still in clear photo sleeve). Boxes are always on sale at Michael's and this way, I can arrange them by theme, and have the boxes stored on a shelf. Decor and Storage all in one. Thanks.

I use photo boxes and made dividers out of shirt cardboard. One box contains divisions for holidays. The other one is by subject. i.e. birthday, sympathy, etc.

I have three boxes that my cards are stored and organized in. 2 I got at Hallmark. They have a flip top lid and I made dividers to categorize the cards. The other is one I got from Target a long time ago. It came with dividers but I didn't like them much so I made my own for them too.

I was going to reply that I don't store them, I donate them, but I see that Styxrocksme already said that :-) I take pictures of them in case I want to make it again and then I ship them off to OWH. I'd be buried in cards if I kept them all, plus they bring the soldiers so much joy.

I'm currently using a long-since retired 'Creative Memories sticker tote pod' storage box. It's durable, and wide enough that I can store 2 cards side by side, and comes w/a # of dividers that I have labeled for various occasions/holidays. Believe this is the one:

I found a wire display in the classifieds for 40�.
It's very big almost 2meters tall and I put it in the middle of my small one-room-appartment.
There are 48 pockets for cards half vertical half horizontal.
Depending on the cards I can fit in 3-6 cards in a pocket.
I like spinning it and looking at all the cards I made.
For most of them I use the clear envelopes, too.

I have been keeping my eye on this thread. I have just started getting into card making, I've been more into scrapbooks, so I really like the suggestions on how to store cards. I don't have very many yet but I know I will probably need one of these great ideas soon.

An inexpensive solution is to decorate shoe boxes. JUst make sure that cards fit in it before you decorate the box. I made dividers and keep cards in them by catogories. I have one box just for Christmas which gets emptied every December. That way I can start all over again in January to fill it up.

I have been searching for ideas to store my cards. I've been using the box that envelopes came in, and made my own dividers, but it's so flimsy and I was hoping for something a bit more permanent looking. I can't believe there isn't a bigger supply of ideas for something like this. I WILL find exactly what I want some day...

I have a cool collection of large cigar boxes to store my cards. They obviously have to lay flat, but I put them all in clear envelopes anyway. Everyone loves opening those boxes to see the "treasures" inside.

I suspect having a stash of cards to store isn't 'normal' unless you make them so not too much around.

Also what suits you will depend on lots of things, not least the number and dimension (including thickness) of cards you need to store... not that anyone on SCS would make a card that wasn't 5x7 and only 1 or 2 thin layers.

I use a clear plastic expandable accordion folder, it has about 13 pockets in it and works pretty well.
