NY * Stamping again in CNY - 5/18/13 CLOSED
CNY Stampers Get Together
Saturday, May 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
First United Church of East Syracuse
823Franklin Park Drive, East Syracuse
Do join us at our next Central New York Stampin'Get Together -- a full day of stamping fun!
Cost $25.00 per person ($27 via PayPal).Your registrationmust be paid no later than 5 pm on March 19 or be an early bird (March 15deadline) and earn an extra door prize ticket.Mailyour registration form and payment to me (info is in the registration form). Thereare no refunds, but you may offer your spot to someone else. Heres whatsplanned.

Yes, this is a lot of info to digest butreading through it should help answer many questions. If any clarification isneeded, just ask. We are here to help!
Mandatory Table Project (aka shoebox) There will be table projects in the morning AND the afternoon, so bring your idea andall the supplies (precut but not prestamped or prepunched) needed for making your project with your tablemates in the morning; another group will make your exact same card in the afternoon so please provide basic written instructions since you wont be there with your project.

Please use quality products. When our final count is in, you will know the table sizes and how many will be needed. Youwill also need to bring four additional copies of your shoebox projects (which includes door prizes, hostess thank you, and one for your table so everyone can follow it for directions). This project will generally be a full card, with layers and embellishment(s) and shouldnt take more than 5 to 10minutes to complete. Please provide any special adhesive that's needed. So,just to say it another way: Bring 4 completed projects + make up 17 packets of materials needed to make your project. Extra parts to fix any "oops" should also be provided. Make these something youd be thrilled to get yourself. Your project for the morning and afternoon should allbe the same.
There will be four tables of nine/table.
IMPORTANT UPDATE 5/15/13: You will be at a table of either 9 or 10 in the morning and relocate to a table with 10 or 9 projects in the afternoon. That means you will need 18 packets (not 17 as stated above) of materials for your shoebox projects. Sorry for the confusion.
NOTE: Because you will be switching tables, but your projects staying behind, it will be important that you provide some basic directions for your project unless it is VERY obvious. Please include your name and SCS name as well. Thank you!
Swaps ALL SWAPS ARE OPTIONAL. Youll know howmany to make when we post the final counts, and youll have plenty of noticesince the deadline is well in advance of the event. Each swap will include a +1 for a door prize. The hostess and her assistant would also love to receive oneof your swaps if youre so inclined.
NVR Card Front Swap - Final Count 29 -- Post #13
Recipe Swap Final Count 20 -- Post #15
ATC Swap Final Count 20 -- Post #19
SU! Demo Quality* Swap Final Count 16 -- Post #8
*This means only current SU! products can beused but you dont need to be a demo to participate.
3x3 Notecard Swap Final Count 26 -- Post #10
Twisted Cards Final Count 11 -- Post #9
Food Please indicate on the registration sheetthe specific food item you will bring to share. Please dont just say food orwhatever you need. Ideas: breakfast items, lunch items, including salads, desserts and snacks. We love to try your homemade food specialties! Bottledwater and coffee will be provided. BYO soda if you want it.
Make & Take for All Because of doingshoebox projects in the a.m. and p.m., we will have only one or two large groupprojects. If you would like to provide one, please let me know your idea.
Garage Sale Bring your stamps and stampingsupplies to sell or trade. Current Stampin Up! items must be offered for tradeonly; you can sell retired items. Sorry but we cant be responsible for missingitems so bring things at your own risk.
Goodie Bags for everyone! You will again havethe opportunity to pick out your own goodie bag items so send me three StampinUp! wish lists with totals of $14, $15 and $16; and Ill use the list thatworks best with our final numbers. You may include clearance rack items butallow for alternatives in case they happen to sell out. If you need moreguidance here, let me know. Those who dont send a list will have their goodiesselected by me. Wouldnt you rather pick your own? Everyones will be as closeas I can get to the same value, i.e. all $14 or $15 or $16; theres no playingfavorites here.
Door Prizes Still hoping to have one for everyone so donations from our own group are most welcome. Let me know if youdlike to make a door prize donation and what it is. Our participants are alwaysso generous! We will be awarding the +1s from all of the swaps as well as the two sets of extras from the shoebox projects as door prizes. Well have another 50/50 raffle to support this for next time as well.
Gift Swap You dont have to sign up for this one, but if you would like to participate, bring a gift related to our stamping passion. Everyone who brings a gift to swap will also leave with one. Value on these should be in the $5-10 range, and stamped projects are always appreciated! If its something youd like to take home, its probably perfect!Be sure to include your name somewhere inside so the lucky winner knows who tothank. Wrap it up prettily to encourage stealing. REMEMBER:Stamping-related!!!
Other Please bring your own labeled items foryour personal stamping needs, including your favorite adhesive. These are the items you just cant stamp without, like: bone folder, paper cutter/scorer, scissors, straight edge, stamp cleaner and whatever else you can't stamp without! Did I say adhesive????? Adhesive! You will likely need lots of it.
Make and wear a nametag with your name and yourSCS name so that we know you on sight.
Don't forget your camera!
REMEMBER: Complete the registration form andforward with your $25 payment ($27 via PayPal) by 5 pm on March 19 or be anearly bird and get yours in by March 15 for a chance at an extra door prize. All funds collected will be spent on the event. Your registration is complete when your payment is received. If you have any questions, please ask! Looking forward to seeing you in May.
[Sorry for all the spacing issues and run-ons above. The "translation" from Word to SCS didn't work as well as usual and there are way too many codes in my post to make edits.}

Swap Etiquette -- These are some good general guidelines that I found on SCS. I hope everyone will take these guidelines seriously so that we all make and receive wonderful swaps!
These are also good guidelines to keep in mind for your shoebox project, except that you're providing materials to make a full card rather than just a front and you won't need a "recipe" (but you do need directions).
1) Quality work -- This isn't about the quantity of layers or embellishments (please do use at least one embellishment and two layers), or whether you are new at this or not. "Quality" means straight cuts with no crooked, fuzzy edges, tears, wrinkles, etc. (unless that is part of the design), attaching your layers straight (again, unless part of your design), stamping images clearly with fully inked stamps, etc. If you make a noticeable mistake while stamping your swaps, turn the cardstock over, or cover with another layer. Last of all, quality means to use cardstock that is a nice weight not some flimsy stuff that has the feel of construction paper.
2) "Recipes" -- appreciated but not required. This means: your SCS name; your IRL name; listing the colors, stamp sets and embellishment you used; any techniques or tips you want to include. If you choose not to include a recipe, please include at least your name so we know who made your fab creation. Avery labels work great, but a plain piece of paper or your personalized stamp work just as well.
3) The only one of these swaps requiring all current Stampin' Up! products is the demo quality swap. All other swaps can use any quality stamps, cardstock, inks, etc. This is not the time to unload your cheap cardstock!
4) Would you like to receive your swap or make your shoebox project? Then it's PERFECT!
5) Swap sizes: NVR card front & DQ -- smaller than 4.25 x 5.5, please. Recipes swaps are 6x6.
Please ask any questions you might have and someone will be sure to answer. We have all made a lot of great friends getting together at these gatherings so we hope youll join us at this one!
Resummarizing: Layers - at least two! Dig into those embellishments, give your fellow swappers a real treat! Put those punches to work! Have fun, try something different! Show some pride and put your name on the back!!
Swapping will likely be around lunch time.

Food Info -- Please remember when making/purchasing your food item that you do not need enough to feed an army. There should be a very nice variety coming: donuts - cake - muffins - sticky buns - cookies - brownies - candy - chips & dip - specialty dips - casseroles/main dish items - salads and side dishes - bread & butter - cheese & crackers - fruit - and more.
So, my suggestion is to make/bring a "normal" amount not a super size. I am sure there will still be leftovers but everyone should be able to find something they like. If you don't believe that to be the case, please feel free to pack your own lunch. We do have a refrigerator and stove available and there are plenty of outlets to plug in crockpots. There will NOT be a microwave available unless someone brings it!
Drinks -- There will be bottled water and coffee. If you must have soda, please BYO.
REMINDER: If you are bringing something that is to be served HOT, please remember that there is NO microwave available. We do have access to a refrigerator and stove (with oven).

DIRECTIONS to First United Church of East Syracuse, 823 Franklin Park Drive. Get the specifics from mapquest.com or randmcnally.com. But, generally speaking, most everyone will be taking Rte. 481 (from 81, 690 or 90) and exiting at Kirkville Road WEST (exit 5W). Franklin Park Drive is way less than a mile from the exit and will be on your right. After the exit, you will pass one light, two gas stations at the corner where the light is, and a school (Bishop Grimes). The church is just a short way up Franklin Park Drive and will also be on your right.
If you have headed in the wrong direction on Kirkville Road and get to that light, you will see a church on your left and houses on the right. That's Fremont Road; turn around and come back the other way. to First United Church of East Syracuse, 823 Franklin Park Drive. Get the specifics from mapquest.com or randmcnally.com. Card/card front donations -- Please bring any cards/fronts without glitter or lumpy embellishments for donation to From Our Hearts.
If you know of other groups who might like card/card front donations, please let me know and we'll see what we can do.
Thank you.
Here's a general schedule:
10-10:30 Check in, get your table assignment, leave any door prize donations with me. Drop off food. Pin one of your completed shoebox projects to the board, leave two other completed shoebox projects in the two containers near board, the last completed one goes with you to your table. Put one each of your swaps out and check your name off the list(s) as you do that. Place your wrapped gift swap on back table (participation optional) and be sure to get a playing card for that. Chat with friends. Head back to your table.
10:30 Intros with your table head; she'll also let you know what to expect in terms of making the projects. Expect to describe your project, especially anything that's not obvious. Remember that some basic written directions should also be there for those who will make your project later.
10:45-12:15 Morning shoebox projects.
If you're hungry at all (morning or afternoon), please feel free to take a break and graze any time.
Please neaten up your spot before you get started with lunch. We don't want any spills on the projects and we also need room to eat lunch. Thanks.
Projects stay behind and people will will switch tables after lunch. Please don't try switching before it's time although you certainly may move to have lunch with your friends.
12:15-1:30 Lunch, garage sale and swapping.
1:30-3:15 Afternoon shoebox projects
3:15-5:00 Door prizes and gift swap. Gift swap will be last so that those not participating can depart early if desired.
5:00 Clean up. So wonderful if you can help!
6:30 Out somewhere close for dinner. You are welcome to stop at my house for the break between.

When the event closes, this first page is where you will find all the updated info on the swaps, etc. Info will be updated as registrations arrive and the final details should be posted by the end of March.
Gift Swap -- Returning to wrap it up as nice as you please. "Snitching" encouraged as part of the fun.
Tables -- Tables are assigned randomly when you arrive. If you really, really (really) need to be with your friend (I'm saying this more for the newbies), we will try to accommodate you but the random assignments really do make for a good way to make new friends. Plus, you and your friend(s) will have different projects to share. Well, unless you're randomly assigned to the same table. Then, you're welcome to ask someone at another table to switch with you. You will be at one table in the morning and a different table (but with the same table mates) in the afternoon.

bittersweet...I will be missing this one as DH and I will be celebrating the graduation of my SUNY Oswego suitemate's daughter's graduation from our alma mater!
Gayla or Pat will be happy to collect donations of cards, Cardfronts, and ATCs for me to pass on to From Our Hearts for the troops. I will accept cards with glitter to donate to Pounder Hall assisted living facility in Oriskany where Linda B's 96 year old mother now lives. They were very happy to receive cards from Linda B that were donated to me last year that I couldn't send to the troops. Thanks for your continued donations!

I am currently in!! I don't believe there is anything going on with any sporting events. I just have one thing to check on but I think it should be all good.

Goodie Bags -- Let me explain a bit further and hopefully not muddle things up...
Everyone will receive a goodie bag valued as close to the same amount as I can get them. Submit your wish list of SU! items (with totals of $14, 15 and $16) from the Annual or Spring catalogs or the Clearance Rack. You may also include any currently offered Single Stamps or any of the three Best of 25 Years stamp sets (3rd one should be shown on 3/1).
Wishes cannot include Sale-A-Bration items, hostess only selections, or My Paper Pumpkin.
Please try to come close to totals of $14, $15 and $16 because I will purchase the highest amount I can but won't know that until I close the event with a final count of participants and offset everything against expenses.
Alternatively, you can leave it to me to do the choosing but I bet you'll be happier with your own picks.
If you are emailing your registration form to me, please include your wishes somewhere on the form or in your email message. Thanks.
More questions??? Please ask.

I noticed that I didn't update the registration form to show the Twisted swap (form said "Another"). That change has been made to both the Word file and the PDF.

No problem, Sherry. I'm usually prompt about acknowledging registrations with PayPal but the last couple of days have been really busy.
