Default warped paper

I just ran some card stock through my Big Shot in a wood grain embossing folder. The embossing looks fine, but the paper is warped and wavy. How can I get it to lay flat again?

I have had that happen when I emboss cardstock. Since I am usually using it for a layering piece, it lies flat when I apply adhesive to it, and around the edges and attach it to my card base.

Ok, I tired to glue the warped embossed background to my card base. It just makes the base curl so it does not lay flat. Grrr.

Oops - I'm sorry. It must really be warped badly. I haven't had that happen.

Yes, I was surprised how much it warped. I've never had one warp as badly as this one did.

I have a couple of folders that kind of warp the cardstock. If I mist the cardstock lightly with either water or rubbing alcohol before embossing, it seems to relax the paper fibers and the cardstock doesn't warp or wrinkle.

The wood grain foldr warped my cardstock badly also. I was going to try it with two pieces of cardstock but haven't yet.

Try attaching a piece of vellum cardstock to the inside of the embossing folder (the top portion); this lessens the force the folder puts on your embossed layer.

Or try using thicker cardstock.

Or try misting with alcohol (since it's warping so badly, I don't think I would mist with water, which could make the warping worse.)

Or if there's a lot of humidity in the air, that might be what's causing the warping: try blasting the embossed piece with your heat gun - heating both sides will cause it to flatten.

Hope one of these suggestions will do the trick for you.

Try placing the warped cardstock under some heavy books. It shouldn't ruin the embossing. I've done it with cardstock that has warped due to dry embossing (like yours), heat embossing, misting, and watercoloring.

Thanks for all the advice! I finally had time to try a couple of the suggestions. I ran it through with two pieces of card stock - still warped but not as badly. I misted a piece of card stock with water before running it through - warped, but not as much as running through with two pieces of card stock. The misted piece should be able to lay flat when I adhere it to my base. I will try misting with alcohol next, first I need to find a spray bottle for the alcohol. Thanks again for all the advice. It's nice to have a place to go to for help.
