Hallmark's Magic Print Card

I am gonna try my hand at recreating the magic print card - thinking I will try a versamark resist technique. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Good Luck! I saw the commercial a couple of times and noticed what appears to be an embossed image in the shape of the handprint. I'm guessing that the heat of the hand is what "melts" the covering. It must be a low heat medium (I don't know what that would be, though), unless it's regular embossing ink that just takes longer to melt at body temperature (I can't imagine that if that were the case that it would be good to absorb into your body. I don't think it would be toxic or an immediate health problem, just not a good idea, IMHO). Also, if it were regular (Versamark) embossing ink, how would it stay on the card until it was used? Hmmmm.... if anyone can crack this, the ladies (and gentlemen) on this forum will find a way or workaround.

If you google Hallmark Magic Prints how it works it brings up Hallmarks website and it tells you how to get the handprint.



Insert fingers into Magic Mitt and peel open.


Rub the non-toxic, mess-free, colorless magic solution on hands, fingers or feet�or even a pet's paws. Each mitt contains enough solution for two handprints.


Add your personal touch to the magic paper, making sure the "top" label is facing up. Press firmly, then remove and watch your colorful print magically appear. Encourage your child to personalize it in other ways too, like adding a special message and a signature. These can be added either before or after you've created your print.


To clean up, simply wipe solution off skin with a dry paper towel. Then wash your hands with soap and water. You may also use hand sanitizer or a baby wipe.

So the question is: what is the non-toxic, mess-free, colorless magic solution?

I thought it was just a white embossed image and that they were just inking their hand and stamping over top.... then just wipe over the white to shine it back up.

Just my 2 cents....
That's how I thought I would do it if I were to try. I think it would work, however a dye ink would be best as you can wash it off your hand.
