Question Any charts yet comparing Copic colors with Spectrum Noir?

I know this question was asked before, but as far as I can tell, no one had done (or posted) a chart yet. Because of price, I have started building a set of Spectrum Noir markers. But there are SO MANY bloggers and YouTubers who generously share the information about what Copic colors they use to color images. I would love to be able to convert the information into Spectrum Noir colors I can use to get similar results.

Does anyone know if such a chart is out there and where to find it?

I assume from the lack of response the answer is "NO." :(

I only have 60 of the Spectrum Noir colors, but if anyone with Copics would like to PM me, maybe we could start our own chart. I could color each of my Spectrum Noir markers on labeled squares on cardstock, then snail mail it to someone with Copics. You (the Copic owner) could experiment with coloring next to my samples and when you find a match (or near match), you could label it with the Copic number. We may not be able to get exact matches between the Copics and the Spectrum Noirs, but for many of us "very close" would work.

Is anyone interested?

So happy you started this. I have been looking and asked on SCS (I believe a while back) if there where any charts too. Can't wait to see how you girls make out. Blueheron great suggestion of how to compare. Never thought about that.

OK girls, I'm in Australia but I'm here to help if you need it.

My SN should arrive today or tomorrow. I only have the 6-packs so far in blue, green, red, yellow, flesh, brown and essentials.

If you are missing any of those, let me know and I'll send a sample on to you.

Update on chart for matching Copics to Spectrum Noir--

First, a HUGE thank you to Laura (TheCraftySister). She did a FANTASTIC , totally organized job of making a chart of all the Copics she has (I think about 175?) with areas next to each where I could color in any Spectrum Noirs I have that I thought might be a match. That way we are both coloring on the same cardstock for a comparison without having to worry about the effect that different cardstocks might have on the colors.

I have all of the Spectrum Noir 6 packs except the Warm Greys. I ordered and received some from JoAnn's, but had to return them because one was dried out. A replacement pack is on the way.

So far, I only have 33 that I would say are near-exact or pretty darn close matches. There are others that are fairly close, but I hesitate to call them matches because there may be other Spectrum Noir markers that I don't have that would match better.

I will work up a list soon of the matches I have so far. I might also include what I consider kinda/sorta near matches for those of us who will likely stick with just the Spectrum Noir 6-packs.

Right now I am trying to decide if I should add pics or not. Since everyone's screens and printers vary, what I think is a match may not look like it on YOUR screen or printer. I'm thinking maybe just a list saying (for example) that in my opinion, Copic YR24 = Spectrum Noir GB25.

Any thoughts from anyone?

And thanks for your offer, KoffeeKat. It looks like you and I have the same markers. I appreciate your willingness to help, though. If anyone else has more and would like to help, please PM me.

I wish I could help or even knew someone who had all of both for the comparison chart. I am excited to see the results. Thank you, and everyone who is helping you, for doing this!!

I'd also love to see a list comparing SN to SU colors.

I've been hoping too that there was a chart. I have the Spectrum markers but so often I see things that were colored with Copics.

I have tried to post a partial comparison chart twice today, but I keep getting a blank screen when I click on the "submit" button and it doesn't post. When I tried post a comment on the technical forum about it, that went blank, too. As soon as I figure out if SCS has solved the problem, I will post a .pdf, Excel file, and comparison .jpg files.

I just posted a new thread with the results of SOME color matches between Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. Click here for the link.

I'd also love to see a list comparing SN to SU colors. I just ordered 72 Spectrum Noir and also was in hopes that someone created a chart to compare Copics and Spectrum Noir. (The 12 color families not the bigger sets)

If I can be of help I am too willing!
