BCRibbon Welcome to Hope You Can Cling To 2014

Splitcoaststampersis proud to partner with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for our fifth annual month long card drive to benefit those affected by breast cancer.

Whether your stamps cling to acrylic, wood, or to your hard drive, they hold the power to convey hope and lift the spirits of anyone who sees what you create with them. That is the inspiration for our “Hope You Can Cling To” stamping campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

When we began this event, we kicked this campaign off on World Card Making Day - a day of celebration of the power of a handmade card. The year we began, WCMD was October 1st, and so that is now our official kickoff date each year. We encourage papercrafters across the globe to put their talents to work creating beautiful handmade cards to send to patients and their families at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, and, in the process, turn our gallery pink!

Hope is powerful medicine. Here is part of a letter from MD Anderson after last year's event:

“On behalf of the breast cancer patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas I’d like to say thank you for the beautiful handmade cards that you sent to us! The “Hope You Can Cling To” month long campaign was very much appreciated. The volunteers in our Breast Center enjoyed filling baskets with these special cards. As they made their visits each day and introduced themselves to patients, they encouraged each to select one of your handmade cards. These special cards truly offered hope and lifted the spirits of everyone during Breast Cancer Awareness month! I personally have had the pleasure of opening each envelope. What beautiful work you all have done for our patients.” - Maggi Suttles, Assistant Director, Volunteer Services, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center
Many in our community have been affected by breast cancer, directly or indirectly. We would love for each of the patients at the UT MD Anderson cancer center and their families to feel this same encouragement and inspiration and we know this community always rises to a challenge.

There will be special challenges in our Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Forum to inspire you throughout the month, and we will have some fun giveaways, including of course, some pink!
We'll begin the campaign with three challenges on October 1st, and we will have challenges each day in October. So keep watching this space as we approach the exciting kickoff of Hope You Can Cling To!

I just moved a month ago and I am set up enough to create again. I've been looking forward to HYCCT all year, but it's been on my mind daily for the past two weeks.

And for those in Australia and the surrounds, there is an option to also send cards to Mater Chicks in Pink, who will co-ordinate distribution of cards to the Mater Hospital.

The address details can be found in the following link:
A note to our Australian friends....

I am SOOO looking forward to this great event again this year, thanks, EDNA.

A couple of things I learned to have ready ahead of time from last year.
>Envelopes
>A personal note with your contact info (I added this last year and received a couple sweet emails thanking me and praising our cards.)
>Baggies: to protect the cards
>Pink: have enough pink on hand, paper, ribbon, buttons, ink...
>Shipping Box: It helps to have a medium sized box ready to put your completed cards in as you go.

It's nice to have some pink to work with since it is Breast Cancer Awareness month and all, but it's totally not necessary for your cards, or all of your cards, to be pink. You can work with any supplies you've got and any colors you like.

Last year I had just found out I was pregnant with my third baby and now I have a four month old (all three boys!). I wanted to participate but got squashed flat by first trimester sickness. This year I haven't even been in my craft room in literally months but I so want to at least manage a few of these challenges.

My mother in law has been in remission for 16 years and just found out that she has several metastasized tumors in her spine. She's a warrior and we are hoping for several more great years, but it isn't the sort of thing that chemo or radiation will reduce or remove. So I'm going to participate in her honor and really try to make it a priority.

Thank you as always for hosting this!

I can't wait. I've been counting the days for a while now. Ill try my best to complete all the challenges but my daughter is expecting twins this month and with a c section and being out of town for several weeks helping her it could be difficult. But I'll try my best. Off to make my packing list of craft supplies to bring with me.

The Master Challenge tracking sheet found here is blank so that you can fill it in as you complete the challenges.

So you guys have any Ideas to throw at me for what to do for a Germy Birthday. I am listening. In amongst all of that I also have a baby shower to work on. So Hope to get it going on folks!

Only the current day's challenge is a sticky.

And all of the challenges have the gallery keyword in them, so for instance, here's one of three from yesterday:

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d-t592565.html

Why they titled them "chat thread" I don't really know; I think it's confusing if you don't know what you're looking for.

There are two places to find each challenge - in the master challenge thread, which is locked - no chatting, and then the "chat thread" for each challenge, where there's a copy of the challenge as well as the opportunity to chat with your hostess, ask her questions, and post links to your challenge entries

I just mean I thought they had the challenge name in the thread titles last year and honestly I am too lazy to go look in the archives.

Good reminder about the master thread link; I like that as the check-off at the end because it prints better on my computer than a spreadsheet.

They did - and today's does too. I just didn't do them yesterday because I was in a hurry

I changed the icons for those threads to the yellow triangle so maybe they will be easy to spot.

I love this and look forward to seeing all the wonderful cards everyone makes. I buying a box (or two) to send some stash cards along with my HYCCT cards.

A super action for a good cause. I will split my cards and i hope that is OK. A part of my cards goes to MD Anderson in the United States. And since I'm from Germany, I will use the other part here.
I´m looking forward to all the great Challenges ! THANKS !
