Challenge Title: The King of Rock 'n' Roll
Hostess: saffivort aka Vannessa
Date: Monday, October 21st, 2013
This year the Hope You Can Cling To drive has become a lot more personal for me. My 56 year old aunt has just finished her radio and chemotherapy for breast cancer this summer after being diagnosed last year and we're all keeping fingers crossed that she is in the clear. Her love of life is outstanding and she truly showed what a great fighter she is throughout everything.
One of the things that has kept her going through her ordeal is her love of everything Elvis! Everyone posted photos of her beloved King on her Facebook page to make her smile when she was feeling at her worst.
So...my challenge is to be inspired in some way by Elvis and turn it into a card. You could use an image of Elvis or the idea of his sequined costumes or even the words or title of one of his many songs to inspire you. Something, anything inspired by the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
Songs I was thinking of include Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, Return To Sender, It's Now or Never, Shake Rattle & Roll, Jailhouse Rock, (Let me be your) Teddy Bear, Viva Las Vegas, Love Me Tender. I know there are heaps more and you can find a very comprehensive list here if you need any more Elvis song inspiration: List of songs recorded by Elvis Presley

Nothing Elvis in my collection, but I still really enjoyed making this.
And now that I've thought of Rock and Roll as a technique, I might just have to make another card this week if I can come up with another idea to put with it.
Just got in from work and popped on to say hello to everyone and thank you for making the start of my challenge a great one. I'm popping back out later to my Zumba class, but will definitely return. Am just off to comment on all the fabulous Elvis cards.
And Sabrina - what a fantastic idea to use the Rock n Roll technique for this challenge! Never thought of that one, but it's perfect for those who maybe struggle with something Elvis related!

Thank you ladies to everyone who has taken part in my challenge so far. I did wonder how the idea of Elvis could be translated into cards, but you have made such a wonderful collection of Elvis inspired cards! I know my Aunt is going to love browsing through the gallery when I send her the link to see them all!
I was so excited to have a reason to use one of my several Elvis stamps! VLVS has those grab bags and I received a few different Elvis images, then I was in a RR swap and picked up a couple more... I might have to whip out a few more Elvis cards after I get caught up on the challenges.
I was inspired by this line from Elvis Presley's song, Let's Be Friends-
"...But if you take this helping hand that I lend/Then we can smile together, let's be friends". I used SU's Vintage Valentines stamp and added a sentiment from CM's Think Pink collection- as it works well with the theme- Friends for the long haul
