I've been kind of amazed at the variety of challenges people have come up with -- I never would have guessed there'd be an Elvis challenge. As I noted on my card description, Elvis and I share a birthday (same day, way different years!)
Here's my card .
Think I have caught up on commenting on everyone cards. A huge thank you to everyone who joined in my challenge. There are some truly fabulous and stunning interpretations of Elvis inspiration there - thank you ladies!!! This was such a fun challenge to host and to see all the different cards you all made!
If anything good comes out of cancer, it shows up in relationships. My dad is not the most demonstrative guy and he never did much around the home. I was really concerned about how he would be as a caregiver, but I'm here to tell you that he has been INCREDIBLE. Not only has he picked up tasks around the home from laundry to cooking, but he has been an awesome encouragement to my mom saying and doing the right things when she was struggling with body image and other concerns. All this to say, the Elvis song I thought of was "Can't help falling in love" because I have seen my parents fall in love with each other all over again in new and deeper ways through her cancer journey. When I first saw this challenge, I was stumped. I do not have any hound dog stamps nor any shoe stamps (to do Blue Suede Shoes) and then I looked at the attached list. That Elvis was a busy guy wasn't he? I decided I would incorporate as many as the songs on the list as I could possibly cram on one card. The truck is attached to the card with wire so it wiggles. Here is my card and the story that goes along with it:
Meet "Danny Boy" , he is a "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" headed to the "Heartbreak Hotel" . He would be a "Lonely Man" except for his "Hound Dog" enjoying "A Dog's Life" riding in the back of the pickup in spite of the "Kentucky Rain" and being "All Shook Up" . They can't wait to have their walk in the "Green, Green Grass of Home" !
If anyone would like to continue the story, feel free to add on!
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eyelet! My Gallery
Wow! I have been ill with a nasty cold this week so haven't been able to get on here and all the new cards are just fantastic. So many brilliant interpretations of Elvis songs! (I think the people at the MD Anderson Centre are going to think we've all gone Elvis mad, which we have a bit haven't we?!). My wishlist for new stamps and dies has greatly grown to through seeing all the fabulous cards in the gallery, so a HUGE thank you from me for joining in with my challenge, but not from my bank balance!
I was inspired by Elvis Presley's song "Wooden Heart" for this challenge! Had some fun with this one!! I will admit that it was probably the most difficult challenge yet, I couldn't get any ideas to come out! Seems it finally clicked.
Thanks for the fun challenge...I've been singing Elvis songs for days! I was stumped at first but remembered this stamp with the mailbox and immediately thought of the song "Return to Sender", woohoo. Thanks for the fun. Here is my card:
