Eeeeek, took way too long on my Elvis inspired card, but it was one stamped from the heart for sure. Time for some school with the kids then maybe another card after lunch!

I'm about six cards behind. I determined my room was too messy so opted to de clutter a bit this morning. My kids have early dismissals due to conferences and the homework has been a complete frustration (for all of us!). I'm hoping to get some actual crafty time this afternoon.

Good morning ladies. It's taken extra time to get over my night shift and this morning I feel somewhat normal again. I did have to ask for confirmation as to what day we were at for this week though, lol. I think I have about 6 cards to upload and three to make. First things first - t's breaking daylight here and I need to get some outdoor chores done before the day gets too hot.

I have really missed being involved in the chatter here this year. I haven't been able to do much commenting in the gallery either, but I do plan to do that eventually.

I am almost over my 2-week sinus "stuff" which really drained my energy and took all the creativity out of me too. I'm 8 challenges behind, having just finished 15B, and hope to get 1 or 2 more done today. I should also be able to get 2 or 3 done each day Thursday and Friday.

What I have seen in the gallery looks fantastic. It looks like we really have a lot of people participating this year.

WooHoo! As of today I'm only 5 cards behind everyone. Of course, I haven't posted them to my gallery yet.

I've got a ton of school work still so I won't be posting to my gallery anytime soon. I've been trying to manage my time enough to create the cards.

I wish for October, people could post to their galleries on Sundays and not have to be a fan club member. As Sunday seems to be the only day I have enough time to actually take my pictures and if it were possible, I would post them.

Can't you post them but they just don't get "approved" until Monday? I thought that's how it worked...but...understandblue would be the one to really explain that answer...

On Sunday I tried following a link and it said "waiting for approval" so I figured the person wasn't a fan club member and it would show the next day.

Mary, I find the photographing and uploading to be the task I like the least, and like most people I have a busy and sometimes erratic real life. I break this task down into ten min windows as I find the time to do them. I'll take my pics. Later I'll do a quick edit. I only upload two at a time which gives me some time in that ten minute window to link up to the correct threads. If I have another ten mins I'll upload some more or do a comment session. I'm not concerned that I don't get instant uploads, coz uploaded is uploaded. I'd sooner have a card made and not uploaded if I'm pressed for time. I think I have about 8 cards waiting to be photographed ATM. *eek*

Maybe this might work for you.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm felling good enough that I'm going to try to make one more card tonight. I went to church, and there were so many people (men and women) around me wearing perfume/cologne that I started coughing again. Arrrgh! My nose is so sensitive to smells right now.

I agree that photos and uploading can be the tedious part. I have learned that, for me, I need to take the photo right away and get it uploaded. I would rather do one at a time than get behind and have to do 4, 5 or more all at once. I've also been doing the challenges in order so far. I haven't even really looked ahead to see what the next challenges are.

I enjoy the photographing a whole lot more since I made myself a light box. Now I can take the photos anytime of the day or night and still have great lighting. I still often end up fussing a bit with the colors as I'm editing, but it is much more fulfilling since the starting point is so much better!
I'm all caught up! Just in time to head to my mom's for a couple of days. I'm getting to go kidless too so it should be nice visit with my parents.

I managed to get a bit of every thing done today. Some cards, photos, uploads and comments. For a change of pace I work on tidying up my desk.

I absolutely HAD to clean up my desk a bit tonight....it was too cluttered to even get to the work surface. I wish I had more time to organize, but I need to get some sleep so I can head off tomorrow at a reasonable hour.

Well done on being almost caught up! I'd agree with what Brenda said - don't stress about the no-upload Sunday in this case!

We really do appreciate all those who respect Sunday as the mods day off and don't upload, but for something like this where there is a deadline that you have to get them uploaded by, please feel free to upload a few each Sunday instead of trying to find time somehow to upload them all in a rush at the end.

Easier for you that way I am sure, and easier for us too , as there is a general guideline of asking people not to upload more than ten cards in an hour as a courtesy to the community ~ so that the gallery front page has a wide variety of uploads.

I am seriously looking into making or buying a light box since I am unhappy with my pictures. Do you happen to have any details one yours?

Question...I just had a thought...is using black on this card going to be discouraging since this is about breast cancer awareness? UHM...I made 2 cards with black...and I don't normally use black but the color seemed to be what I should use on the card...but now I'm rethinking it...

I rarely use black but last year I made a card that was very black and it wouldn't of looked as good in any other colour. If the card looks great with black then use it.

I just went back and had a look at my cards from last year and I made a couple with black as the predominate colour. They got good views and comments. There was a colour challenge too where black was required. It's all good.

Ha...I didn't even look at your attachments. They look perfectly appropriate to me. Some one will snap them up.

They are very pretty! Not at all discouraging. I think black often looks very classy and elegant. I use it a lot, really makes other colors pop, too.

Here's a good tutorial I used a white sheet that I already had cut for another project. I bought clamp lights at the hardware store, but I wish I had the desk lamps as shown in the picture because I end up having to keep my box in a chair so I have something to attach the clamps to and then my lamps push against the sides of the box. As a result, my box is really pitiful looking. I have used it to help my neighbor take photos of some lotions that she sells and she & her DH do some woodworking. She is talking about building boxes for each of us, but that hasn't happened yet. It really is quite easy to do the cardboard box one and you'll be amazed at the difference in your photos. I did buy pretty good bulbs for my lamps and that made a difference too. All in all I think I spent $25 for the lights and maybe about $15-18 for the better bulbs...light bulbs have really gotten expensive.

Should have looked at the train schedule before I went to bed. I always forget that there is a big gap between early AM and midday trains to Chicago. On the positive side, I'll get to make today's card before I go, but that means a little less time at my parents.

I agree with the others - they're fine! I liked the Thomas Kincade one, I remember commenting on it. The silhouette one is absolutely perfect - so dramatic, and all the best silhouettes are black .

The garden one - it's only now reading your post that I think it could also be a good sympathy card. Sadly they're needed. But I wouldn't rethink anything, if I were you.
