Sabrina, thanks for the link to the Verve sentiments. I often find good stuff there. I can see that some of those will fit nicely with HYCCT.

I save the spreadsheet to my computer and update it with new challenges and with info as I complete challenges.

Thanks for the reminder, Stacy. I have been eyeing this (or one like it, I think it's AI?) might have to place an order before the month is out!

It's a beautiful evening where I am tonight, hope it's the same for wherever all of you are.

( picked up a bra die from mft . and some stamp sets from mft and ( I forgot what else) see this is what I do to get ready, I go on a treasure hunt in my space. ) I know I have some things that should work sooner or later during the month and I am planning on putting those stamp sets into a basket near the table so its all together.
(right now my space is sorted by themes and colors (kinda) but, unmounted stamps are in a dresser ( and messy )
So, I will also make sure everything is fairly tidy and I will check through the pre-stamped / die cut images I have in a basket and make some more from the skinny scraps piled up from DTGD and VSN. ( there is a lot of that ) but, I tend to like how sentiments look tied on like presents on the ribbons.
I also know one of my friends sent me some little pink bling stick pins last year and I think I used one and have one left so will just find it kind of a thing.
I own all colors of cardstock so, that's not an issue for me but, I will check out the local M's and J's to see if they have anything blingy that would work on a card that I like.
I might color some images but, they will be just because, I want to and if they will work YAY me, and if not, there will be a lot of CAS and maybe line drawings with no color things coming out of my room. ( the good news is there is not a short time limit like VSN its you know you have 24 hours for that card before the next one or two come out) and you have a week to get the ones you had to skip during the month done too. so, the other thing I do is I print that spread sheet and I write on it every time. ( anything is done ) so I can see what is missing at a glance.

ETA so, mostly during the week I don't make much, I jot down the challenge and think about what I have that I can make it work and then I just do that weeks list over the weekend like it was a VSN because, I can do things quickly if they have percolated in my head for a bit.

Clean space is important for sure & I'm far from it in my space currently. Combining with regular challenges helps me sometimes so I check in on those everyday & keep a notebook handy to track the challenges & my ideas for each. I also went throuh my "rejects" pile to refresh my mind on what was there waiting to find a home & organized them a bit. I got my clear envies & packaging boxes ready as well as a few mailing labels.
My mom's breast cancer battle continues with it now in her spine so the motivation is strong & the opportunity to give back much appreciated.

Never even knew about this month of challenges until recently! (Yes, apparently I do live under a rock....) I'm pretty stoked about giving at least a few of the challenges a try, and it'll be fun to chat here, too!

Sheri, that is a gorgeous sky. I manage to get an hour in tidying and organizing. I took a month off last spring to try to get my life in order. Turns out a month wasn't near enough and even though I was optimistic that I could keep my momentum going, turns out I could not. Anyway, felt good about the progress last night. Got some new boxes that work beautifully for punch storage.

Also emptied a basket full of miscellaneous stuff. It is officially dedicated to HYCCT. I have the envelopes and the celophane bags in it ready to go, now all I need is cards! Last year, I just had all these piles in anyplace I could fit them. Kept losing them, naturally.

I'm hoping that by November 1st that not only will I have all the cards completed but that my space doesn't look like a bomb went off in it. I think everyone should post pictures of their space at it's worst during October.

I don't think I've ever quite recovered my stamping area from the Dare to Get Dirty challenges-THAT WAS INTENSE!

I don't do a whole lot of prepping for this month-long challenge. With only one challenge a day (with the exception of October 1st), I can often combine the HYCCT card with the daily challenge. I did, however, purchase some A2+ clear envelopes that will hold both a card and the envelope. For previous years I had to use sandwich bags.

I am starting to get ready, my first task is to get swaps out the door before October so I have nothing to concentrate on but HYCCT.

I'm thinking I might cut inside panels as well so I can finish the insides to match more easily. We will see how much actually gets done ahead of time.

another thought could be if you do like to color is maybe cut 2 or 3 sheets of the white cardstock you like to color on into quarter panels so you have some pre-cut ( smaller ) sized cardstock ready to go for stamping an image on. ?

eta and then these pieces could also be used to line the insides of a card that was say a dark color cardstock or if you make the front so heavy you need some counter weight to it...

Too funny!!!

Actually, I'm the opposite. I'm not sure if I could handle my space if it was clean. For some reason, my creativity comes when my stamping space is a tad messy. Of course, then the migraines might have something to do with the unfinished projects stacking up on my stamp desk.

I'm trying to finish up an stamp image book I've been working on so that I'm ready for HYCCT.

Also, DH is out of town for a couple of weeks so I can organize my craft room without any trouble from him.

Thank goodness my dogs are fairly good about letting me know when they need something.

thought of another to-do... for the list.

pick up a flat rate priority mail box ( a big one ) if you are going to wait till you are all done to mail everything in one batch for a place to corral the finished pieces inside of also. ( It will make you feel so good to watch your own progress through the month as it fills up ) if you pick it up early you can decorate the box a little before the challenges start.

( I have a pink sharpie marker lol I don't wall paper the box but, I do write in PINK on it)

Lois, I forgot I ordered up a bunch of clear envelopes as well. That made me remember that I better check my regular envelope supply. I am stoked and ready for this year. Gonna miss a week or so for our yearly leafpopper trip but HOPEfully I'll catch up when we get back!
I usually mail mine in two batches--mid month and when we finish. That's my favorite part--mailing out the cards. Can't wait to see who the hostesses are and what they have in store for us!

Jean, where did you get your clear envelopes from?? I need some!!
I got my "regular" envelopes for A2 cards, as I was running low. Found them at a lower price at an Office Depot near my home.

Also - I was in A.C. Moore this AM - noticed they have quite a few pink things now - and they are on sale! Especially have things for Breast Cancer Awareness also...

Michaels had a big pink ribbon display this summer and although most of the things didn't apply to cardmaking, I did pick up some ribbons stamped with pink ribbons.

Thank You ladies for the information!!
I ordered from the site Jean gave - really good prices!

One more question - when you speak of "mailing boxes" are you refering to what the cards are mailed in?

Yep-I have used priority flat rate boxes but whatever you think will work best for you. It is nice to watch the box fill up as you complete challenges. I try to throw a few extras in there too-sometimes duplicating the card I make for the challenge or by raiding my stash.

yesterday I stamped every single support stamp I had found so far that I bought last year ( on scraps ) will shoot a photo later. who knows maybe I will use them up, maybe not but, it gives me a visual of what I own too. ( like if I want to do it again in colors that match the project ) I struggle to remember what I own with the clear stamps. ( who knows why ) one thing I did find that was one set ( an A Muse set they gave out as a gift last Oct is rubber ) and ( I don't know its name??) and it stamps with colored markers much better than the clear stamps, the clear stamps the marker ink ( water based ) just beads up on the stamps so, they look kinda splotchy??

I'm thinking I get best coverage with the versafine ink on the clear words but, wouldn't it be great if they came out with that ink in a marker?

I have the same problem with clear stamps. I find that the Stampin Up ink doesn't cling well either. I like the Archival Jet Black Ink but you have to be careful to let it dry. It doesn't dry as fast as regular dye ink.

Hello ladies! How are the HYCCT preparations coming along? I've been busy cleaning up my desk and getting some of my supplies ready for the challenges.

Stacey - I hear what you are saying about not knowing what you have with clear stamps. I've got a tiny selection of clear stamps and I keep forgetting half of what they are. And I know why I don't remember them too. They are individual stamps and they are awkward for me to sort/store into a meaningful way that'll make me remember them.

We're busy behind the scenes nailing down challenges, getting all organized, and making samples to inspire you! I am realizing that I need to update my catalog of sentiments... I used to be so good at stamping new ones into my binder as soon as I got new sets, but then... oy. I'm just terribly behind, and haven't remembered to take out sentiments I've sold either. It's a mess! I've been pushing my usual norms as I make samples, and pulling out stamps I don't always get to use because of design team obligations, etc. So much fun!! My daughter is getting in on the action again too - this is her 3rd year participating (she is 10, and her username is doodlepop).

Hi Dini, long time no see. I'll be playing out the front with the ladies this year. I'm going to enjoy the daily surprise as each new challenge is revealed. We'll be keeping an eye out for doodlepups cards too.

One of the things I love about HYCCT besides the giving, the friendships and the challenges, is that it is a great opportunity to use up some of the mini stashes I've accumulated. To that end, this morning I've been busy die cutting card bases with my new Pop n Cuts die, chewing thru a couple of mini stashes along the way. My other challenge to myself is to use up those paper flower embellishments that 'grow' in my stash. That should also have a shrinking effect on my brads as well. And I like to focus on stamp sets that have not seen an ink pad for some time too.
