You'll have all the information you need and lots of people to ask questions of. Never fear. There will be daily challenges but the "due date" is extended past the end of the month a bit so people can catch up. I know I don't have stamping time each day.

I love this event better even than VSN. So looking forward to October and what our mods have planned for us! Thank you, Lydia.

I am so looking forward to October. This is one of the most worthwhile things I have done with my cards. Cancer has touched the lives of so many dear friends, and I always love doing pretty pink cards. Sharing the love and sharing the hope ---a small thing that makes a huge difference. Thanks, Lydia for all you do to make this possible.

I will try to participate again this year. I am sitting in an ER room at MD Anderson writing this! Hubby is having troubles and we are here to find out what. Had his bladder removed here the end of June. But I'm game to make what I can. Bring on the challenges.

Hi All~

I will do as many as I can! I've been a volunteer for the Komen group since 1996 having lost my best friend and my only girl cousin to this horrible cancer. Many thanks to Lydia and your crew, it was fun last year and though I don't usually do challenges, this one is special! Hope and love for all you peeps out there in cyberland.

How many of my friends have spent time at MD Anderson... I don't think I know anyone who is currently going there, but I know that there will be others in the future. I was so glad to participate last year and really do believe that making cards for the patients and their families is a worthy cause. I make and send a lot of cards for our church Card Ministry, but the concentrated effort for MDA during October really blesses me.

Plus, it's just a lot of fun hangin' out here with this crazy group of crafters!

I'm excited for the start of HYCCT! This year, it has personal meaning. My mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer just before Mother's Day and has one more round of chemo to go. Sadly, I'm sure that this becomes personal for people every year. I'll be thrilled to participate again this year.

Oh, I just checked to see when this was going to be and I am so disappointed that I will miss about half of the challenges. But maybe I can catch up when I get back. We are going to be out of state traveling to see family for about the first two weeks of October.
I had so much fun last year and got to know a little about a few of you. I sure want to be in for that again this year. I live in Houston, so if there is any way I can help in addition to the cards please count on me Lydia. Thanks to all of you for making me feel at home last year and I'll be here as much as I can this year.

I am just now finding this challenge but I am excited to say I, too, will be participating!! What a wonderful cause. I lost a friend just last week to pancreatic cancer, and it was shocking to lose her at such a young age. She hadn't even hit 50 yet and it overtook her like a freight train. Laying in supplies of pink paper TONIGHT.

I am looking forward to sending cards to MDAnderson this year!

I am a five year Breast Cancer survivor but have lost family and friends to this horrible disease!

Anything we can do to help ease the pain and suffering of those battling BC and other cancers is wonderful!

Do I have to have clear envelopes to send cards or just for the challenges?

When we're sending our cards in, each one should, along with a plain envelope, be put in a clear envelope . This helps protect them as people look through them . Actually, it's always how I keep my own even in in my personal stash, so I totally understand why this is a requirement.

From my understanding, we need a plain envelope to go with the card along with a clear zip lock bag for each card. That's how I sent all my cards last year.
Is that different this year? Now we need clear envelopes, what happens if you make a 5x7 card?

Oh, a clear bag for each card was ok - I just think the clear envelopes are lighter and less bulky . I think the important thing is the protection and that you can see the card, not whether it's a baggie or a clear envelope. And the plain envelope is obviously needed for the patients and their families using the cards.Me, I regularly buy the clear envelopes in the 4 card sizes I am most likely to make, but I can see that for a one-off event that wouldn't be practical!

I have ordered from this lady and they are great! I needed them for the cards that went to Afghanistan! I ready for this challenge.

One Question - I understand we need the clear envelopes but do we also have to include a regular envelope?

Thanks for all that so many of you do for us!

I just finished reading the rest of the posts and I see I do need both a regular and clear envelope!

I have not done this challenge before and do not know what to expect but it should be fun, pushing our brains to do things we do not normally do!

My prayers and also thoughts go out to those of you who have been touched by this! I love having a destination - other than the ones I normally do - and hopefully this WILL help cheer up someone in need!

Until October 1 - have fun getting ready!

This will be my second year participating in this challenge. I'll be making cards in honor of two breast cancer survivors - my aunt Joan and my sorority sister Julie.

I've been busy gathering up all my pink paper and embellishments and even pre-coloring some pink images. Looking forward to Monday! (There's a sentence I never thought I'd say...)

Healing thoughts to those of you who are - or know someone who is - affected by cancer.

Yay! So glad I saw this thread as I'm going to need to make a trip to VoldeMart for more envelopes. Completely slipped my mind!

I'm also in Houston so I have wondered about taking my box over in person before.

I'm very excited that it is HYCCT time again. This is my second year participating and I dedicate this years cards to my sweet sister in law who we lost to breast cancer this year at the young age of 39 and to all of the patients battling this terrible disease. Bless each and every one of you for your brave fight.

How strange! I have no idea how I got an email update from this thread, but I'm so glad I did. I just got the call last night that my Mom has terminal cancer. It apparently started in her lungs about a year ago, but she asked that we, her children, not be told. It finally came out because, when I visited her last month in the nursing home she's in in VA (I'm in PA) she wasn't wearing her dentures. She told me that there was a sore spot that made wearing them very painful. I spoke to the nurse, and the nurse made a dentist's appointment for her. The cancer in now in her mouth and throat, and there's really nothing they can do except keep her comfortable.

I'd love to participate in this challenge as much as I can. I can't do every day, is that ok? I'll be out of town next week, and I'll be heading back to VA later in the month. Is there a main thread I can go to for all the details on the challenge?

Thanks. I will do this in honor of my Mom, because I know there are people doing their best to make her life enjoyable, hopefully I can bring a bit of joy to someone else suffering from cancer.

Tracy, hugs to you.
There will be daily challenges and a main forum to watch. You'll have extra days into november to work on the challenges. But don't feel pressured to do them all. Do as many as you feel you can, use it as a relief of sorts. There are a lot of us looking out for everyone and watching threads so feel free to ask questions or om me if you need to.

I don't know how I missed this entire forum! I blame new baby sleep deprivation. Thank you to Lydia for mentioning it on your blog today!

I haven't crafted much other than thank yous since my son was born three weeks ago but this is the perfect reason to focus on card making and getting back into the swing. What a great cause that touches every one of us in some way.

Oh my, is it October already? Guess I better try to get organized this weekend. This year is for Nancy.

Tracy, I'm sorry for what your mother is going through...prayers out to everyone that has suffered through this horrible disease. I'm putting a special label on the back of every card I make in honor of my friend that lost his life due to cancer in August. I told my boss the other day what I was doing, he donated 100 A2 envelopes that I purchased through our supplier.

I'm looking forward to all the challenges, I like it when they extend the deadline because there are some challenges I can't do each night (some of the tougher ones), but I manage to make all the challenges & that's the fun part. New ideas & techniques are great.

Thanks Lydia for all your help & organizing. It is lots of fun chatting with everyone especially seeing all the smiley's that Lee shows us. She's a hoot!

Hugs,
Connie

Whoo hoo! Time goes by too fast for me but this is one time I really look forward to and probably the only reason I look forward to October. I don't participate in many of the other challenges because of time & lack of creative brain activity (& some laziness) but this month long challenge (of challenges) gives me plenty of time, has such encouraging camaraderie, great challenges and is for a cause most of have been touched by in one way or another, I cannot resist being drawn into making at least one card, even if it's at 2am!!

I better get cracking on my Birthday cards this weekend to free up some fleeting spare time in the month ahead! Also, thanks for the reminder, I better stop in at my LSS today to search out some pink cs to add to my collection! I think I have some card bags I had gotten years ago at xpedx in CO, buried somewhere in my crafting space...will need to dig those out.

I thought HL might have clear envelopes but they did not. However, all of their Paper Studio CS is 40% off so I added a pack of pinks to my stash . I also found a cut MME 6x6 with pinks to use my coupon on. I need to order the clear envies I guess!
