Challenge Title: Peaceful Pink Hostess: nillysilly_ol'bear - Jennifer Keyword: HYCCT1215A Date: Monday, October 15, 2012
Well it was Valentine's Day of this year when I found THAT lump.... you know what I mean - the one that makes your world turn upside down & all of THOSE thoughts go through your head. nothing seems the same again.
when going through biopsies and surgeries and tests and dr.'s visits and treatments and then more tests and more hosptial visits, plus the emotions that are just ALL over the place, it's hard to find a sense of peace some days. sometimes I have to take it 5 minutes by 5 minutes as opposed to hour by hour or day by day. The battle isn't over yet, but I try to find comfort where I can.
So my challenge for you is to create a card that evokes peace, calm, and serenity with a touch (or splash!) of pink. no pressures, no requirements other than to just enjoy, embrace, and have fun while you are making it!
I have learned, most especially through this journey, that nature is very important to me. I covet the trees that surround my house and forest the hills of our little town. I find such joy watching the squirrels and chipmunks play on my front porch. But more than anything the lovely birds outside my window have brought me such comfort with their delightful melodies. When the side effects of the chemo would get really bad, I could listen to the birds singing and find peace in their music. This is the reasoning behind my cards.
I hope you enjoy creating a card for this challenge! I look forward to seeing your beautiful projects! don't forget that there are LOTS of prizes up for grabs thanks to our fab sponsors!!!

Thank you for participating in this card drive! The cards really DO make a difference! I also want to thank Dini, Misstreez, muzbysmom, sewsplendidstamper, LuvLee, and pattyb for creating sample projects to inspire you for this challenge. Jennifer
I am typing this in shifts because the computer I am borrowing keeps losing my posts. I hope you can be patient with me....
I want to tell y'all first hand how important these cards are that are being made for MD Anderson ~
I have set up card boxes at the 2 Cancer Centers I attend. people who are getting treatments can grab cards of various types and occasions made by crafters from all over the world who have sent them to me. all of my extra cards go into these boxes as well. (except for the ones I'm sending off for HYCCT!) every time I go in for another treatment or to refill the boxes, people tell me how much they love the cards. it makes them feel special to have a homemade card to send to someone. my oncology nurse at the chemo center is a cardmaker herself. my radiation oncology dr. was thrilled at the idea when I asked him about it, as he loves homemade cards. People really ARE being impacted by what you do here.
thanks for all you do!
I'll be back later to chat and comment. gotta get to my OWN compy! grins!

I've really struggled with this one - this is what I have ended up with. Not vivid pink, but there's definitely a touch of pink and more in the sky.
Thank you for a fun challenge, Jennifer. Keep on enjoying those birds!
oh look at all of you and your very special cards! how wonderful so many of you are playing along - thank you!
please forgive me for not being on so often thus far..... radiation treatments are not really like a fun trip to the park, so I've been pretty puny and pukey this week. that makes it tough to get to the computer and do any posting or even catching up. I am so sorry. I will try to get around to leave some comments here today and this evening.
just know I am so very thankful for every single one of you who has chosen to play along and send a card to MD Anderson! you can't even begin to know how these cards will brighten a day!
