I'm already behind on challenges. Life has just been challenging lately. My 18yo son has been making some interesting choices. I helped him move into an apartment yesterday in the town where he is working in a restaurant kitchen and I stuck around to help him clean the carpets and get some stuff set up.
Today was exciting for me. I put up a card rack in a local consignment store that sells mostly antiques and home furnishings....would you believe I had 300 cards to fill the rack! That was a lot of labeling this morning. Maybe I'll get cracking tonight and try to get caught up now that I'm done taxi-ing the kids around, grocery shopping and making supper!

I've been reluctant to post here.

I love the concept of HYCCT, and am participating for the first time. I've done the first four projects and uploaded them. It's just that awareness is still surprisingly tender. Of course, everyone's been touched by cancer. In the past ten years, I've lost a sister, cousin, a very good friend, two classmates, a pastor, and a pastor's husband to cancer. Two other good friends are now battling the disease.

Nine years ago, shortly after my sister died, I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. I've been SO blessed that it was found so early, contained and treated successfully. However, every mammogram, every Relay for Life, whatever, still brings tears. Mostly gratitude, but also grief.

So. I keep a box of tissue close to the crafting space, and please forgive an occasional drip.

Gail -- love your choice of words "interesting choices". I have a son who has done the same LOL!
Good luck in the consignment shop. 300 cards -- holy cow!

We have one, too! They actually used the money they won on the show to open their store. We have another cupcake shop, too, and though they haven't been on cupcake wars, I think their cupcakes are better. Might have to get one for inspiration for Lee's challenge!

Default Hey Brenda!

Ah, I understand and I have tissues everywhere just in case. You will be a little better over time. My Mom, my Aunt and two sisters have had breast cancer. Things went well for all til we lost my sister last October. That's where those tissues come in handy. Hang with us. We will inspire and make you laugh as we make wonderful greetings for those in treatment. It's a great place to be in October. Take care and I can't wait to see what you've created. Hugs...

I don't like movies that scare me, but for some reason....years and years ago when I was first married...I decided to watch The Shining while my hubby was at work. I had also set some trash out on the front stoop (because I was now afraid to walk to dumpster) and then forgotten about it. I heard noise on the stoop but didn't see anyone so I grabbed the pot of boiling water I had on the stove and went back to the front door so I could keep Jack Nicholson from axing his way through the door to me and almost threw it onto my DH who had come home from work a bit early and seeing the trash on the porch, dutifully taken it to the dumpster and returned home. Needless to say that was the last horror movie I've watched!

(((Hugs))) My aunt passed away 20 years ago this June and I still cry about it. I cried looking at cards the first two days of challenges, I'm sure I'll cry today. I want to hug my survivor friends so hard and express my amazement to them but they'd think that's weird lol. I've covered many tear drops with embellishments when I'm making challenge cards, seriously. Let yourself cry, let yourself celebrate. I cry every time I see a commercial for the charity walks and I cry every time I do one. Find me around here (I'm almost always on during the day) and we can get all sappy together.

No scary movies here. No scary movie trailers. No hearing scary movie music from teh other room when DH is watching it. Seriously. Cannot handle it. Crime shows I love tho. I love First 48. and they had a First 48 missing persons too.

Victoria-- Big hugs right back at you, (and others who have responded). These tears are a part of my life, and I won't let them slow me down. In a way, I'm grateful for them. They remind me that I'm not alone-- There's a connection with other survivors and folks who are impacted by the disease. Denial is a lot harder with wet eyelashes and runny nose.

Also, it cleans out the sinuses and improves the economy-- Buy stock in Kleenex!

Hahahaha you make me laugh. OK I cried today. Read a blog post from a gal recounting her walk experience. It's funny in that atmosphere people you just met will tell you they have had a double masectomy and how wonderfully vain they are about their one inch of hair that's finally grown back. There is a biker group (gang? hardly) that comes out each year and protects us at cross walks and stuff. Pink beards, bras worn over leather vest or on the fronts of their bikes. We get sassy and gaudy and laugh a lot. And when you hug strangers they don't freak out ROFL

Hey-- I'm giggling. Lydia featured my gray card on facebook this morning! Happy thrills, and great fun.

Oh yes! I love cooking shows too. I only have antenna TV, so few to choose from, but I do love Rick Bayless "Mexico One Plate at a Time." I've never seen him make cupcakes though...

I hope your card rack does well. I always look at those when I'm at antique malls, and wish that I had the time and energy to make enough cards to sell. I'm too critical of my work anyway and wouldn't want to sell anything but "perfection" which I haven't achieved yet.

I love the concept of HYCCT, and am participating for the first time. I've done the first four projects and uploaded them. It's just that awareness is still surprisingly tender.

Go ahead and use those tissues Brenda. Bless you for participating in an event that is so emotional for you. Praise God that you are a SURVIVOR!
