I just got back from the post office. (I seem to have some sort of issue about actually getting things TO THE P.O. so I am thrilled with myself to have them postal) I mailed out my 17, rather paltry next to my friend Paula's!!!!

I have a problem getting things to the P.O. also. But I got mine mailed yesterday.

Great idea to send cards to MDA throughout the year. I'm thinking of sending a batch every time I have enough to fill a small flat rate box. I don't generally have "extra" cards as I can always use them for the church card ministry.

The only reason my stash has old cards in it is because I like a card so much or it was so difficult to make that I don't want to part with it. I guess sending some of those to MDA would be a less selfish way of dealing with that problem.

I've taken some time to go through galleries, but have a whole lot more to look at. I'd like to comment on every card, but if I did that, I'd be commenting until next October!

I love the idea of sending cards year 'round, and I'm going to contact more local agencies and see if they're interested in receiving some for the same purpose. I suspect M. D. Anderson has a wealth of cards now.

Periodically, I "cull" my stash. I go through all three shoe boxes and take out ones I know I won't use. I'll put the rejects into a basket and leave it out either at church, in the fellowship hall, or on my coffee table when I host bunco-- things like that. I'll tell folks to take what they want and will use. It's gratifying to see how fast the cards disappear! I've vowed NEVER to have more than the three shoe boxes.

I tend mostly to make cards specific to the recipient, which cuts down on overage, but I still end up with a full box now and then. I often let my mom go through and pick out cards she'll use, and I have also donated them to my sister's Relay for Life team. One year, we sold them at our campsite and another year, I packaged a bunch up as a lot for the silent auction.

I was truly amazed when I went through my sample card bins (had formerly been an SU demo), and my two large boxes of cards for sale when I bought a card rack and found a store to put it in. I had over 300 cards!!! Who knew! Guess this hobby gets a little bit away from me at times. The exciting part is that I sold $50 in cards last month.

It truly takes a long time sitting there commenting on everyone's awesome cards, but I'm managing.
I also find it hard to let go some of the cards that I keep but then I'm finding it easier now that I'm sending them to the cancer center. I'd rather have them being used rather than sit in a shoe box.

Such a good idea to send them to Anderson throughout the year. I like to do the challenges, but then never use them so I have a few shoe box size containers full of cards. I think I know where to send them now.

Just sent all my challenge cards to Anderson yesterday after work. Glad to see I am not the only one who avoids the post office. Don't know why, but it is the last thing I want to do after work. I had a stack of mail to send. Mainly old pictures of my family that I have been promising to send to my cousins for several months.

It was a nice feeling to hand the box over to be shipped. I would also love to see the office of where they are delivered to!!!

Great job ladies on making so many cards this month! I am glad we made the goal.

I have done the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk for 2 years now, and it is such a nice feeling to do the simplest of things for those who need support and encouragement to get through this terrible disease!

Thank you! This year really meant more to me than anything because of losing my good friend to cancer. Every year I'm making a dedication during the HYCCT challenge for him. His wife thought that was the nicest thing someone could of ever do.

I'm pushing for next October to make 100 cards, actually going to take a week off this time for a vacation to make my cards.

That is so impressive! My poor brain has barely been able to come up with 34 ideas, much less 100 - I think I've only made about 150 this whole past year.

Speaking of vacation, I recently found out we are going to be on vacation during next year's DTGD. And I had already told them at work I was taking that week off to make cards. I'm a little bummed about that... Isn't that awful?

No - not awful at all! I participated in DTGD for this first time this year. I loved it! I totally get not wanting to miss it.
I was bummed that I was limited in my participation this year in HYCCT. I'm already looking forward to next year.

This was my 2nd year participating in the HYCCT challenges. I completed all 35 challenges and today I made it to the post office-picked up a priority box and mailed all 35 cards. Felt so good to get them in the mail!!!

I was on vacation this year when we started - so I didn't get going until October 18th, but I still made it finished with all of the cards and a few extra. So vacation or not, you can do it! Well, I guess if you were gone the whole month it would ba a lot harder, wouldn't it.

This was my first year doing HYCCT. I sent all my cards off and this year it all just 'felt good'. I lost my mom to this equal opportunity destroyer in '84. This past Feb both my step-mom and a BFF last their battle. I felt I was doing this for them.
I too have a large stash of cards (2 men's size 12 shoe boxes!!) and will filter them out for giving to the local cancer treatment center in Mentor, OH. I will also continue to send some to MDA. I've tried to sell cards - no luck there - and I give my niece a stack for her birthday each year, so giving them to Siedman and MDA will be an added bonus.
What a huge beautiful gallery.

Good morning ladies....good luck everyone for the drawings, Lydia's getting her machine ready for the drawings.

My co-workers are already teasing me because of what I want to do next October, but that's ok. It will give me more time with my card making.

I got a notice from USPS today that my package has arrived at MDA.

There are several local cancer centers near Keller and Fort Worth, so I could check with them to see if they would accept donated cards. Our church also ministers to several local senior centers, assisted living centers, and nursing homes. They might also like some donated cards.

That's a great idea to give the cards to nursing homes.

That's nice that the USPS lets you know if they received your package.

Very beautiful - and impressive - pile of cards, Dina. Congrats on getting so many sent.

According to my DC # My BOX ARRIVED!!!!! Friday, just as they said it would!!!!! lol

YAY!!!! I am 100% COMPLETE NOW... making the cards is the EASY part, it's mailing them... I LOVED my country life as my little rural delivery gal would pick up my oversized packages and mail them for me, I'd attach some cash and a Hershey's bar and we were GOLDEN!!!!!

what a fabulous way to honor your friend and you get to do something you like to do.
I used to hate going to the "main" Post office where I lived a while ago, there was never any parking and always long lines with angry frustrated customers waiting to get to a pushed to the edge postal worker. I finally starting driving to the burbs and found that the Post Office there always had parking, the workers were actually friendly not frenzied and it was a pleasant experience. where I live now every post office I've gone to is like that. now my only excuse is I'm just to lazy to get over there.

Speaking of vacation, I recently found out we are going to be on vacation during next year's DTGD. And I had already told them at work I was taking that week off to make cards. I'm a little bummed about that... Isn't that awful?
I went on vacation during the month, only a couple days, but I was able to catch up. don't forget there's extra time to get them posted.
