Is the fun still going on today, or do we have to wait for tomorrow?!

I think we're done for today. Of course people will still pop in to check the thread posts and to chat some. I think I'm out for the day. Been on the computer too long already. Spent some time on Pinterest looking up stuff, finding new people to "follow" etc.

I've been following the storm online - sounds like it's a pretty nasty one!

As far as sides I always do my mom's mashed potato casserole which can be made ahead, sweet potato casserole, and Bobby Flay's amazing Brussel Sprouts if I can get the pomegranate part made otherwise we'll just roast them with olive oil, salt and pepper. Another family tradition is Prune Whip which is basically stewed prunes folded into whipped cream with orange rind and a few nuts...I may skip this this year as I'm really the only one who likes it. My older kids are doing the baking making rolls and pies.
OMG I'd love that prune recipe - that sounds amazing!

So, Lydia, after all these prize giveaways, do you feel like an elf or a fairy or just a gal in the prize patrols...holding balloons like Publisher's Clearinghouse?

I think you may be right... most often here they cut it up and put it in a vegetable porridge, or cook it in coconut milk with lemon basil and lemon grass and chili, which is super yummy.

Windy all day here, and the serious rain just started this afternoon. Coming down in buckets, now. Normal Oregon storm... Standing water here in town, since so many folks still had leaves piled curbside for city crews to pick up. Folks out of town are losing power occasionally, but that's not unusual. Like Tam, I glory in the wind and rain. I don't want the webs between my toes to dry up.

OK, catching up here. It's all about the mashed potatoes for me. No recipe, just lots of butter (go figure). I also (*gasp*) do not much care for pumpkin pie (would rather eat more mashed potatoes) but love pecan pie, especially when my texas MIL sends Texas pecans, the best anywhere. This year we are home for the first time in four years. I am roasting a turkey and brussel sprouts (posted a recipe a couple of weeks ago, maybe). Making taters and a pie. The rest I am going to let Whole Foods cook for me because it's just me, DH and my little kids who would rather eat their weight in butter, I mean potatoes, than eat any other delicious things.

Dini, I saw the question asked earlier about where you actually live but I never did see an answer. What country are you in? Love the sound of the seasonings for this squash. I have a butternut squash recipe that has shrimp and coconut milk in it and it's great. So lemongrass, etc. sounds wonderful too.

No fun having to wait around when you just want to get home, but at least you had something great to look at.
Your stuffing for that squash sounds great - Can ya share the recipe?

One of my friends that usually came to my house for Thanksgiving and I love turkey dinner so much that one year we had 5 thanksgivings. We would either have a small turkey or just the breast and we'd have our favorite sides. We'd do it on a Sunday afternoon. It didn't seem like nearly as much work as on Thanksgiving maybe because we didn't have appetizers and lots of desserts. Plus there were only 5 of us.
Since I've moved to FL we both miss having our turkey celebrations.

You're right, we should make it easy on Lydia.

You pick the letter.

I provide the cute image:

And now Lydia announces the name of the winner and prize!

Ok, 1...2...3...go!

I'm glad to see a couple of you still posting. It's 11:45 here and past my bedtime since I'm going to work at the law office tomorrow. Thankfully I don't need to be there until 10:00 a.m.

Since I last posted, I made my October Christmas CCC12 cards. I'll post them by tomorrow night (I hope). I used the new folded Christmas tree made from a half circle, used an embossing folder, and heat embossed the sentiment. No problem making one of those, but making 8 seemed to take forever. Now to make my November CCC12 cards...

Just coming back to talk to myself and feel the love... my pumpkin is cooling in the oven and my house smells so good!

I know a couple of people have asked where I live... I purposely don't mention where I am online because our mission has asked us to be discreet... we personally are not in danger, but we are always under scrutiny, so I keep it vague in public forums. You can email me privately, though, and I'd be glad to answer questions!

Oh my, that does sound delicious, Dina. We eat a lot of Indian but I think at the moment I'm in a lighter Vietnamese/Indonesian/Thai mode. My Far Eastern Cookery book is getting a good workout these days.
Gail's Prune Whip sounds lovely too, I might try that!!
Laughing at superjen and her mashed butter. Spotting her signature the other day and reflecting on the amount of butter I'd used that morning made me think I must ask one of the guys in work if he's ever tried making Joel Robuchon's mashed potatoes.
