Thank you, I figured it was something like Gamsol. I just was brain dead. I sure would like to be your sidekick for awhile to hopefully have some of that talent rub off.

Dini, do you "lift" (erase) those highlights out or do you just shade all of that?

congrats to the latest winners.
Dina, gorgeous card. I saved that same button idea on Pinterest and have used it a few times, but usually with just one or two buttons. Love how you used a bunch.

I just posted a recipe on "Hope you're Hungry" for my favorite salad for Thanksgiving. I think Val mentioned a similar one. It's got cranberry sauce with Raspberry jello in it and crushed pineapple, apples and walnuts.
I love it because you can definitely taste the cranberry but it's a little sweeter, not so tart as some cranberry dishes.
I may have to start with a small set but I am going to get some other markers. I hardly ever think to use my pencils. Actually I have a lot of things that I don't think to use. Maybe that means I have too much stuff. No - you can never have too much stuff!

It's all shading - the key for me is a very light touch and very sharp pencils. The Polychromos pencils keep their points so much longer than the Prismacolors do.

Dina, I just watched a video you have on Pinterest using Inktense pencils. I don't think I've ever seen those, but I might have to find some and give your technique a try. It looks like something I could do. Thanks!

I like the Inktense pencils, Val. They are just that. I'll have to look at Dini's video.
Well, everyone, have a happy Thanksgiving. You, too, Bridget. I probably won't be around much the rest of the week. May the prize fairies be good to you.

You should see her color with them in real life - one of the coolest and most mesmerizing things I've ever seen.

Awww, thank you, Lydia!!
The photo reminded me so much of this one, I just had to share it - except she's WAY more glamorous than I am (hey, I hadn't had a shower in days!) - the father of the little girl we sponser in Lusango, Uganda walked three miles from their village to the school where we were working and handed me this live chicken as a thankyou! In order to display proper African gratitude I had to hold it for a long time and take it around to show it off to everyone!

Same thing in Germany, but years ago we started celebrating on the Sunday after Turkey Day. And inviting people with an "American connection" - whether actually American or lived in the US for a stint or had an exchange student. Figured they would appreciate it more.

HAHA - OMG what are the odds?? That is a great picture! I like that African tradition. We should adopt it so that more people are walking around hugging chickens. I can't believe he did that - that is amazingly sweet. I bet a three mile walk with a live chicken can get pretty exciting at times!

Should tell you the end to the story...obviously couldn't pack Godfrey (named him after the sweet daddy) so I gave him to the school later on... they cooked Godfrey and fed him to us for dinner the next day! I felt very humbled....

Tammie, I just looked at your gallery and you do a great job with your copics! I love your little Snow Man banner. I saw it yesterday on the Dirty Dozen Gallery and again just now. It is so cute. Are the Snow Man stamps from the same set? Snow men are my favorite for winter!

They are! They're made by Faber Castell (coincidentally their factories are right here in our host country, but we can only get student-grade products here...) and they're an oil-based pencil.

Here's a link to them on Dick Blick: Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils - BLICK art materials

I got my set of 120 (slightly used) on ebay for less than $70, which included a new leather case. I'd suggest keeping an eye out there! Still very proud of that great deal.

Bahahaha!
That was 3 years ago - Sylvia is 8 now and in her last letter she said she wants to be a teacher...and her teacher wrote at the bottom of the letter: "she is good and promising"

Thanks, Pat! They are Whipper Snapper Designs and are sold as individual stamps. All three were from their 2012 fall/winter release.

So this is the closest we get to a pumpkin here... not sure what variety of squash this is exactly! Locally they call it "sambiki".

This will be a great kick-off to the holiday. There's so many prized to go! I sure hope I'll be one of the lucky winners!
Congratulations to all who've won already.
Dinner time....

You guys sure have been chatty tonight...I knew if I was off the prizes would come. Congrats to the new winners!
As far as sides I always do my mom's mashed potato casserole which can be made ahead, sweet potato casserole, and Bobby Flay's amazing Brussel Sprouts if I can get the pomegranate part made otherwise we'll just roast them with olive oil, salt and pepper. Another family tradition is Prune Whip which is basically stewed prunes folded into whipped cream with orange rind and a few nuts...I may skip this this year as I'm really the only one who likes it. My older kids are doing the baking making rolls and pies.
