I was thinking that exact thing this afternoon. We could just make a new thread and keep chatting until we start the challenges again next year. We could even have a challenge or two throughout the year to keep some cards coming in to MD Anderson. I am really going to try to send some more throughout the year.

Connie - wasn't it you that said you had bowled a 300 game?? Did I mention that my dad and brother both owned bowling alleys? I was a pretty good bowler but certainly never bowled a 300!!!

I don't understand about the thread limits either. I say keep posting here until they won't let us.

But Lydia said she was going to set up a thread where we could post things we make with our winnings, and that could certainly be a general chat thread also to keep us going through the year. Once she gets that set up, she can tell us the parameters of that thread.

OMG!!! finally got through all the chatter....I was so tired when I got home last night (work turned into 15 hrs instead of 12) that I almost fell asleep in my cereal bowl. Today I played in the craft corner and then went and watched my Shockers win over Tulsa.....I sure missed an entertaining night here....but it was just as funny reading it tonight....oh my, Chris you are a riot.....and you will have so much fun with your new toy....

CONGRATS!!!!! to all the winners...this has been such a fun HYCCT and it will really fun to see what y'all create with your prizes....I'm glad someone thought of that....

now time for beddy bye for me....

Yes, bedtime for me now too. I just had to do some of my work for getting ready for tomorrow. I am so far behind because I took time off while DH wa home over thanksgiving. I think I need to just retire. But DH wants the extra income until we get our house built at the lake. That will be our only house if we ever get organized enough to build it. Plan to retire there. So long story short - I have to keep working for a while. Nite Nite all.

What's limited? the number of pages/posts?

I have to think it's payback.

After all, dogs must think "why is my human always picking up my business in the yard with their hands as soon as I'm finished?"

And cats must be thinking "Ew. That measly human is digging around in my box"

So they have to follow us around as payback - including watching us in the bathroom.

Yep, Jan 23, 1991 I had a 757 series. 212, 300, 245 were my games.

I averaged 210 for over 8 years, been bowling since I was 6yrs old & coming from a bowling family I just kept it going after all these years, well up until Kaitlyn was born which was 9yrs ago. I love it & hoping I get back into it. My husband was semi pro & he taught me how to throw a hook ball, going out to the 1 board & come right back into the pocket.

Are you in a league? Where did they own bowling alleys?

get out of town! my uncle owned one, needless to say my cousins bowl very well. I stink, at bowling that is. We had a league at work and I came in last. fortunately, no one on my team took it that seriously. As if people who took it seriously would ever let me bowl on their team.

you should be taking Kaitlyn bowling with you. it's a great family game and she's old enough. We used to take the Girl Scouts when they were that old, but then they put bumpers in the alley so maybe 9 is young - not sure but it's worth a try. If they had put those bumpers in the alleys when I was playing I might have been a contender.

I'm all for the challenges throughout the year-I'd thought maybe a monthly theme (I even have the months mapped out already!). We could either send things along all year, or develop a stash to send during the next HYCCT.

NO kidding! I made it very clear to my kids that someone had better be bleeding or dying if you interrupt me in the bathroom or, heaven forbid, wake me from a nap. One Sunday DH and I were taking our nap and they sent the youngest one to wake us- first words out of my mouth were "this had better be good" and DD says "The oven is sparking and smoking and is on fire!" I guess that qualified!

I think it's wonderful that we send to MD Anderson in October but ALL YEAR? Wouldn't it be nice to share the love? I'm sure we all have cancer centers near each of us. Maybe I'm taking a risk saying this here but.....

I donate cards to a girlfriend who's school district has a fund raiser and she makes card baskets. I've also donated to friends who have a church card ministry. There's Operation Write Home. There's Ronald McDonald House.

WOW!! That is a very impressive average!!! I can't even imagine throwing a perfect game -- were your hands shaking by the 10th frame

I don't belong to a league or even really bowl any longer..

My family owned their alleys in the Albany NY area

Have you seen the Cards for a Cause thread here? I admit I have a tendency to not be organized enough to do it, but there's a designated charity or cause each month. I think it's here in the challenge section.

OOh good idea Paula....Maybe Cindy would do one for MDA in say March, 6 months from now so they would have some to tide over to next HYCCT....I don't know how long it takes for them to go through 3,500+ cards? Maybe the factfinder (Dini) knows...or Ms Lydia....

We actually have some changes coming to C4aC soon with both permanent and temporary destinations, including MDA

I think my whole body was shaking, but the thing that was exciting is that my coach was bowling too on my team & that made it extra special.

Next time your ears are ringing it's probably me. Whenever something bacon comes up I think of you and if I'm with somebody I mention you. Burger King had a ice cream sundae with bacon in it and DD loved it and kept going back to get them. I just couldn't bring myself to try one but I told her you'd be game, just a little to far away.

I guess that qualified!
I wonder how long they debated waking you up.

Instead of making the challenges around a single destination, make the challenge have nothing to do with the cause and everybody can donate them to whoever they want.
I like the idea of using our winnings to make something and show.

LOL, in my misspent youth the bartender in the local bar knew me and my buddy so well that between the time we opened the door and got to the bar our drinks were there. ah, memories...
I don't know if I'd ever make them but you should put the choco bacon cookie recipe in the box. there's something for everyone.

WOW. WHOA. Yeah, get those smelling salts.
Unfortunately, I don't keep smelling salts in stock.

I just skimmed through this thread. Y'all are killing me. Congrats, Chris, I just emailed you so you can tell me where to ship your Inspiration!

I just keep taking more in every time I go.

now about the bacon shirt...... gotta get some of those for my family for Christmas. I so want a bacon ornament for my tree this year. we LOVE our bacon! tee hee!
people have started asking me to make my browned butter choco chip bacon cookies again this year. they are the absolute best cookie any of us have ever eaten......
I had thought that the main purpose of having the challenge would be the chance to keep in touch and had considered that folks could give their cards locally during the non-HYCCT months. Really, whatever people chose to do with them would be fine. I'm sure we could all find local outlets for give-away cards.
I found a sushi ornament to give my son who rolls sushi at the restaurant where he works.
You absolutely MUST try the bacon jam that Lydia put in the recipe box and I'd love to see your cookie recipe there too!
