Morning
Card didn't start this morning so my wonderful husband hollered at his boss and drove back home (just about a mile) to take our oldest to school. I would have hoofed it with them but ti's raining. Cuz that's just how my life is going lately.

So no errands today only chores and stamping.

I've got 2 cards done but dd took the camera to school for photography class. Hope to get them uploaded this afternoon if my internet keeps playing nice. If not I guess I'll have to make a run to Starbucks and use theirs. Bummer. lol

Barb nice to meet you. There are a few other slightly unfamiliar faces here.
I'm Victoria, Live in the East Bay (California for those not familiar), I'm passionate about food, men and fundraising. Between two sort of fake jobs (MK and SU) I care for the kids and the house and I stamp and bake. I do the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in July, this will be my fourth walk and I've raised over $11,000 so far in total for all my walks. Last year I topped $5000

Migraines is exactly what I have!!! I am going to a new dr. starting next month in Dallas at Baylor. I think it will be a research dept. Anyway, this dr. has dealt with migraines for over 25 yrs! He will be dr. #4! Daily meds for them... But, I've learned to live with them, as have you... Nice to know there are alot of us out here!!! Sad to say!!!

I hope to get some of my cards caught up tonight as today has been a good day so far! And, I'm making two of each as I have to make a silent auction entry for our local Chamber event on the 15th... I've done cards for the past 3 or 4 years now and several ladies "fight" over them! So, now it's an expected item! This has given me a new inspiration of ideas!

I'll put some recipes on here tonight when I'm at home too... I don't have any with me here at work...

Hi Victoria... Not sure where East Bay is, but I have a stepson in Imperial Beach... That is all I know about California, other than the obvious! Congrats on the funds raised, I have a friend who walks for the Avon Walk too & I donate to her each year. I don't have any breast cancer in my family, but my mom died of cancer and my husband has had bladder cancer and is still taking treatments. We were at MD Anderson 4 years ago for the removal (?) of his tumors from his bladder. He was in the local hospital on Tuesday for a checkup and is still in remission. YEAH! But still has to take a couple more years of treatments for prevention.

It's always fun to meet new friends here.

East Bay is the area east of SF about 40 minutes from SF. I walk in the SF walk. Which does your friend walk?

OK I'm gonna dissappear for a bit. I swore I'd get the bathroom clean today. Me and two little boys and one big boy and some how *I* always get stuck cleaning up the pee LOL

But it will be nice to take a hot bath in a clean bathroom tonight. Plus I won't feel as guilty as usual when I ignore other things to stamp later.

I started my day by cleaning carpets. So I feel justified in planning to stamp tonight.

Love me some click and ship. I moved this summer. Old house, I wouldn't even request pick up. My mail lady knew me, so I'd just stick it out there. Tried it here...my mail guy came to the door. I thought I was in trouble. NOPE! He just wanted to tell me that he likes all the mail that I send! Job security for them?

When I worked in Guernsey and in Yorkshire the postman would collect any of my outgoing mail and post it. In Yorkshire I think it was because the house was so isolated - the postman also delivered the groceries for me every morning .

Smile Bacon Quiche Tarts

Hello Again Everyone!

Hope everyone's card-making is going well (I have some catching up to do myself...)

Here is a terrific recipe for bacon quiche tarts - I got it from Amanda Seweel's blog - yum-MAY! Enjoy!!

Bacon Quiche Tarts
INGREDIENTS:
5 slices bacon (I used turkey bacon)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese (or cheese of your choice)
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated flaky biscuit dough

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 10 muffin cups.

2. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until crisp and evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.

3. Place the cream cheese, milk, and eggs in a medium bowl, and beat until smooth with an electric mixer set on Low. Stir in Swiss cheese and green onion, and set aside.

4. Separate dough into 10 biscuits. Press into the bottom and sides of each muffin cup, forming 1/4 inch rims. Sprinkle half of the bacon into the bottoms of the dough-lined muffin cups. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture into each cup.

5. Bake 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until filling is set and rims of the tarts are golden brown. Sprinkle with the remaining bacon, and lightly press into the filling. Remove from pan, and serve warm.

Hiya ladies!

I was off to a great start with the challenges, then got a nasty headcold (my little friends at school love to share EVERYTHING with me! - including wiping their noses on my shirt - uugh). I am on the mend and plan to play catch-up tonight and tomorrow.

I see a lot of yummy recipes here and will share one with y'all soon. I was wondering if any of you have a good recipe for Queso Blanco. Our local Mexican restauarant has THE BEST, but for some reason the waiters all of the sudden 'no comprendo' when I ask them what kind of cheese they use... hmmm... secret I suppose. I've seen some recipes online that use Chihuahua Cheese - I don't think any grocery stores see that here. So, if you have a good one, I'd love to try it!

Hope to be back later with some cards.

MMMM BACON!!!

Maybe I should put all these little recipes into a Hope You Can Cling To Cookbook!! At the end of the month I can put out a PDF with all of them. What do you guys think??

And yes, Queso Blanco is a well kept secret down here too. I *think* most places here use Asadero, but I think the secret is to make a bechamel like you do for mac & cheese instead of just mixing the cheese and the chilis.

Lydia..

I would love a pdf!! That would be so awesome..

I'll have to check into that Asadero.. thanks for the tip. And great day, I don't even know what bechamel is, so I'll look that up to - LOL - my mac n' cheese comes out of a box. I have a lot to learn... maybe there is a reason I can't find that recipe.

my poor poor husband. He is picking up our oldest from school because my car is dead. It's pouring rain. Like crazy. The streets are flooding there is thunder and lightning. My son is only 6 so hubby has to get out of the car and walk all the way across campus to get him.

Strange how I feel bad for him but would just do it if it were me LOL. Well DH does have to go back to work so maybe that's the sucky part.

A HYCCT cookbook....inspired idea, Lydia!

Those bacon quiche tarts sound delicious...just picked up some bacon today, maybe I'll try that this weekend.

I'm working hard to keep up with these challenges. I know if I get too far behind it'll be hard to catch up! Put my back out a bit yesterday so I can't sit for very long.

On another note, a couple of friends are coming over tomorrow and we're doing extra cards to send. Is it okay to post them in the HYCCT gallery even if they aren't for a particular challenge?

I'm headed to a shoebox swap tomorrow so I'll be three behind when I get home on Sunday but I will color images and maybe it will work!!

No - you can only upload challenge cards to the gallery, but you may mail anything you'd like!!

I had such fun making a window card today! I even got out my watercolor pencils- and did some freehand flowers What a wonderful challenge!
