I think party lines were a little before my time but I've heard of them. My mom used to tell me about them. We always had a rotary dial...I was so jealous of my BFF who had a push button. LOL
Call waiting was a welcome addition to our household because my dad was a dr and we had to keep the line clear when he was on call. It was a big deal to get that touch tone phone too!
OMG! How did you get access to my family photos?? That totally reminds me of my brother & I when we were younger. He was a P-pot! LOL
For real! I should have just gone through my own photos of my children. Then I wouldn't have to use random photos of kids on the internet. Thank goodness for public domain!

so fun....My dad worked for the phone co. and we had them in every room (except us girls rooms) and each one was from a different era....I have the whole collection now, starting with grandma's wall party line phone....heehee...

Yes, party lines and crank telephones! Our number was 3 long rings and 3 short. And a "live" operator who lived in the same town.
HOLY MOLY!!!! I just counted all the prizes and if I counted right there are a total of 174 prizes. Amazingly generous those sponsors are!!!! Are you doing them all tonight?
CUTE! I heard something upsetting on the Weather Channel - they said due to weather conditions that the squirrel population may not have enough to eat this winter because of low acorn production (that is their main food source in winter, it stays in the digestive system a long time or something) and it is likely to decrease bhy A THIRD! Poor olittle squirrels! I want to put food out for ours...

My grandmother had a party line when I was really little -- but not too little to not listen in on the neighbor's phone calls LOL! That was big fat fun ... until I got caught.

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOO! We had a squirrel one winter that we fed, when I was growing up. I named him Herman!

LOL! Imagine being away at college and having to place a call home. You'd tell the operator your three digit number and she'd ask for the rest of it. You'd have to convince them to just try it, and then when the call went thru, the "live" operator on the other end would ask you how things were going at school. My local switchboard was the last one in the nation to go to seven digit phone numbers.
