My cards are bagged and packaged and ready to be mailed. I plan to drop them off at the post office tomorrow. Thanks again to all who orchestrated this event. It feels really good to be able to give something to others.

Is the P.O. open tomorrow? My box is all packaged to go but I didn't get out of work on time to make it to the p.o. At this rate I'm never going to get them out and I NEED to unload some cards

I would guess "no" My home-schooled kiddos are mad at me because I'm not giving them the day off. They're always mad until it is mid May and they're finished while their friends are going til June! They even played the "but Papa is a veteran" card. I miss being in the Hampton Roads area of VA...we always went to Williamsburg for Veteran's Day because they gave free admission to military with their families. We always took off the holidays back then because their papa was always off and we had fun family days.

Congrats to the winner! I'm sure the folks at MD Anderson are having a ton of fun sorting through the cards. I know I would be.

We spent almost 20 years of my husband's Naval career living on the same block in Newport News. We really loved it there and it was tough to pull up those roots. It was a great place to home school with all the history near by not to mention the ocean, Mariner's Museum, Living Museum, Air & Space Center and DC a day drive away!

Drat! That's right ... 11/11/11. Veteran's Day 2011.
Well, in that case, they'll go out on Saturday and the cancer center should have them on Tuesday.

Can't forget all the places important in American history - Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Richmond, Appomattox, Mount Vernon, Monticello, Arlington National Cemetery...

Then there are the neat places like Luray Caverns and Natural Bridge, and the fun places like Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion.

(Can you tell I love living here? )

I love Jamestown. Seeing the replica ships is always a profound experience, just thinking about how the first settlers came across the ocean not having a real clue about what they were in for. And I could stand and watch the glassblowers all day.

OK guys...don't make me too homesick now. I'm back in the Midwest where I started, but my older kids pretty much grew up in VA so it has been hard for them! We also went from urban to rural, military to civilian, small church to large church now back to small again. Lots of change that hasn't always been easy. The best part is being close to my family especially now with my mom's cancer. It is good to be 3 instead of 16 hours away!

Good morning ladies! Looking forward to tonight's VSN. Never participated before but will give it a try tonight. Think a "mini" would be manageable for a first timer.

I hope everyone has a great day (and remembers NOT to check the mailbox!)!

Happy Veterans' Day everyone. My thanks go out to the many, many who have and are serving their country. We're having a Card Ministry Design Team meeting at my house this morning, so I need to straighten up the work area. (Gather & put away my personal scraps & get rid of all those little bits of paper from punches & die cuts.)

I just chaperoned my 4th grade daughter's class fieldtrip to Jamestown. It was excellent! Love the glassblowers as well.

I thought I remembered you saying that you'd been there recently. That's our 3rd grade class trip and I was lucky enough to be able to go with both of my boys.

Did y'all ride the ferry, too? Sadly, that's what a lot of the kids here tend to remember, more than the historical stuff.

Are they announcing 1 winner a day? I think they're doing it different this year. I guess the suspense is killing me....oh well.

Heading off on a cool Fall morning to watch my husband run his first marathon. If this is what his mid-life crisis is then we're doing OK. He turns 50 in May and had told me he wanted to run a marathon before his bday....now he's planning on running 50miles on his 50th!!!

One of my girlfriends just ran her first marathon last weekend - NYC Marathon. She is still high on endorphins LOL!
Good luck to your husband. Mine bought a convertible ... he hasn't run since football practice in high school.

I packaged up my hycct cards on Thursday and mailed them. It felt wonderful being able to be a part of this card drive and then actually send them. Again thanks to everyone involved here on SCS. It was my first year participating.

Good luck to your husband. Mine bought a convertible ... he hasn't run since football practice in high school.
Wow! Marathons, eh?? Ummmm yeah....no running here for hubby or I! Hopefully when we get to our 50th birthdays we can decide on a FUN mid-life crisis!

WOW! I wouldn't mind doing a marathon once in my lifetime....maybe someday.

Least I know roughly what time Lydia will post the next winner maybe even 2 right?

Off to get the girls some pajamas, we've been having our cold moments.

Have a good day ladies...
