They have to run my reports before I can kick off the big drawings It takes a little while to get all that data out of the gallery.

I announce and draw here in the chat thread and I update the Prize Winners Thread with the winners

But I don't have my data yet!

And the drawings take place over a few days - we have a TON more this year, so there are a lot more individual drawings. I am hoping to get to the grand prize drawings by Friday or Saturday if I get my reports today!

Last year the suspense was delicious! I remember Lydia was working on the Weekly Inkling, would pop on, announce a prize and disappear, leaving us hanging! Was super fun even if a bit painful.

Wowsa! That's a lot of data ----tater.. Did y'all see there are over 3,500 cards in the gallery?!? I'm wondering, where do they store all of those cards - lol!

Well, I'm happy to have Election Day off! I spent yesterday with my 9 yo on her 4th grade field trip to Jamestown. And definately need today to recooperate. It was a beautiful day.

So....In the meantime and between time.... let's stamp! There is a fun Color Challenge posted for today, featuring Cajun Craze... I need to make some thank-you cards for my 11yo to give to her friends who came to the slumber party.

OK. I'll be looking for you chicknz in the cc gallery!

Yeah! I think a video of how this process works, with Lydia drawing real names from the number generator would be really helpful for those who are still confused.

Well, I am bummed. I missed something. Where are we supposed to post our spreadsheet for the prizes. If I have missed out I am going to be very sad! I have not been getting email updates from this thread and getting other updates from other threads three and four times. I think I have gremlins in my computer. Guess I'll just go sew!

I'm as confused as you are Dawn! I can find nothing that tells us when the prizes are to be drawn. It would be nice to know so we could hang on the thread during the drawings. Not sure if maybe Lydia doesn't know when she'll have everything organized enough to do them or what.

Austin is on a fault - the Balcones fault - but we haven't had one since I've lived here. *knock knock

Default Anyone up for some Chai?

Thought you all might enjoy a warm, comforting beverage this morning...I'm in the mood for one and here in our rural setting one has to meet one's own cravings sometimes. Here's a recipe for a homemade Chai

1 tea bag
1 3" piece of cinnamon stick
2 cups milk
2T sugar or honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp each ginger and cardamom
couple drops of anise extract if you prefer

In small saucepan combine the tea bag, cinnamon stick and 1/2 c water. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Cover and let stand 5 min. Remove and discard tea and cinnamon (I save the stick to reuse later) Stir in remaining ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until heated through. Enjoy!

I always at least double this and still just use one cinnamon stick. Some of my children prefer to drink this cold. I also tend to use a vanilla bean pod rather than the extract (I use one that I've already scraped and used the beans in another recipe and I keep the pods for making either this or vanilla sugar)

My daughter is on your side of the world currently in Mongolia and it has been fun to start my day chatting with her while she is ending hers and getting ready to head to bed! Plus it is a 12 hour difference which has made it easy to keep track of time (until daylight savings kicked in here now we're 13). We'll try not to do anything exciting while you're gone!

I am not sure how I got involved in the Hope You Can Cling To challenge. I must have seen a link in someone's post because I certainly never went looking to join a challenge. But now, I have a whole different outlook on the idea.

I see that SCS has a whole forum for challenges. I glanced at one or two but they aren't quite what I'm looking for.

I'd like to join the challenges where we make cards for charities rather than make cards for the sake of making cards. (Uh oh. Is that a SCS blasphemous statement? LOL) Is there a way to be notified when these new charity challenges start?

I'm just a few miles west of the infamous San Andreas fault (Southern California). When the Big One hits, I'll be in the ocean and my neighbors to the east will have beach front property.

So I can TOTALLY relate to hoping it holds off until I (and my kids, and any kids they may have) will be in our own piece of heaven.

Melissa, it sounds like Cards for a Cause would be right up your alley. Here's a link to that forum:

I, personally, send many of the cards I make to Operation Write Home: Operation Write Home: Helping Heroes Keep in Touch with Home

Check out the Cards for a Cause section :Cards for a Cause Forum - Donating New, Used & Recycled Greeting Cards - Splitcoaststampers
There's a different cause each month.
And there's always the Need a Lift section too - http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...equests-f202/; not a charity as such, but still a good way to send cards out.

Sabrina & PH in VA, thank you!
During my cursory glance at the forums I must have missed the Cards for a Cause section. That's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for!

Yes ma'am Texas does have them, and we will be getting them more frequently too with all the oil/gas drilling going on too. That's my opinion anyway! All that horizontal drilling has to be messing up the faults underground... wouldn't ya think?

It looked like there were more...so thank you to the companies!!! (And to our favorite, hardworking Lydia!)

Question: I thought I just read somewhere where it is too late to mail my cards to Houston? They won't accept any late ones? I guess that's okay, I see where there are other places to send them via Ph in VA's post, but I made them for MD Anderson... just a question... thanks.

As far as I know, there's no set deadline for mailing the cards to MD Anderson. (Lydia, or somebody with more knowledge, please feel welcome to correct me if I'm wrong there.) However, the sooner you can get them mailed, the better.

The deadline for uploading cards to the HYCCT gallery, in order to be eligible for prizes, was yesterday.

You know, I was thinking the deadling was noon on Sunday! And, I busted my tail sitting up on Saturday night getting it done, until 2 Sunday morning! I could've gone to bed! How sad... I hope I got them posted correctly, but it's quite alright it not... I had a lot of fun doing what I got done. Did not get all 33 challenges done, but got my few completed. We have some amazing talent here.

Thanks, PH!

good morning
busy day here so far. I few things left on the to do list but it's all kitchen stuff (prep produce, clean you know the drill). I dropped off a kid then took the other one with me to the place to do my drug test. Now we're back home after a quick stop at 99 Ranch (asian grocery out here LOVE IT) and have lots of goodies to put away.

Since there are so many generous ladies on this thread, I thought I'd invite you all to check out the S/O Pay It Forward thread: S/O Pay It Forward

Most of the items are given to the first person to send the giver a pm. But I have listed a few new items to give to the first person to correctly answer a question. They include a brayer, a stamp set and some small holiday chipboard pieces. My (extra long) post should be toward the end of the thread and I'm accepting guesses until 10 a.m. tomorrow (11/9) or until the question is correctly answered, whichever one comes first.

Please join us in paying it forward!
