We are finally getting some cool weather. Had the windows open for a while last night while I baked Sweet Potato cupcakes. Whose blog did those come from? I'm sure it was on someone's blog following a link from here. They are heavenly!! My husband came home with a big bag of sweet potatoes last week that someone at work had given him. So they got Sweet Potato cupcakes in return today when Hubby went back to work. Of course I had to keep a couple to eat!! LOL.
Work has kept me very busy (part-time job my foot) for a few days again so now I have 4 cards to get done. Hoping to accomplish all 4 tonight because I have to work again tomorrow and Friday.
Just came from Target and shopping for little goodies from the $1 racks - things to send Grandkids for Halloween. I won't get to see any of them this year except later in pictures.
I'm off now to go start on my cards. BTW Why is the postime so far off on this forum? It's about four hours off from the actual time I have posted.

@ V, Clean house twice in a week!!!
Not me, LOL. You'll be ready for your pamper break away in the middle of all that.

Is it only on this forum the time is out for you? Normally it's a setting in your profile, you have to choose your own time zone.
Gee, I wish it was warm enough here to need the windows open - it's getting so that just twice a day isn't enough to have the heating on.
Those cupcakes sound good!!

I do some things every day. Plus if you bake you have to clean that up. You know how it is.

Ah, I don't count cleaning up after baking or cooking. That's just life , but if I had to do the sitting room or the bedroom twice in a week I'd feel hard done by.

Hey gals thought I jump on and say hello since I've been quiet for the first half of the month. I have been busy making cards and mailed the first batch out on Monday.

Plus how awesome is this--I was cleaning my stamping room closet (where ugly paper goes to die) and found two boxes of Martha wedding invitations that I had bought at Big Lots just for the envelopes ($2 for twenty 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and twenty 5 1/2 x 8 1/2? Too good to pass up!) But the awesome part is that one box had all the envelopes lined IN PINK! Plus had little heart stickers to seal each one that I'm putting in the card bag.

Hey, Meredith, I'll take a some of those peanut butter cookies off your hands!

Have you all ever checked out myrecipes.com? They have some awesome recipes and many of them are from Cooking Light Magazine... delish and won't even give you a heart attack!

One of my favorite things to do is read the comments from the people who have made the Cooking Light recipes ... comments like: Loved this recipe, substituted half & half for skim milk, added more cheese, and topped with bread crumbs - no one knew it was a light recipe!

So the apples turned out craptastically. Now I don't have to make the tags

I did move out some furniture that had been hanging out in the hallway too. DH just ever gets to it

I'll cut bean bags tonight and read the book to my new to me sewing machine. Then tomorrow I can sew them really quickly. I might get really lazy and just use the rice I have in the pantry

Oh I also spray painted the bean bag toss board so that's done too.

The lemon cake was voted a success so here is the recipe....it is a pound cake that has been altered slightly.

Lemon Bliss Cake

1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
4 large eggs
2 tsp baking powder
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
finely grated rind of 2 lemons

1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 cup sugar

Preheat ove to 350. Lightly grease bundt pan. Beat butter, sugar and salt till combined and then on high for 2-3 min till fluffly. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the baking powder, then add flour alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix until smooth, and stir in lemon rind.

Spoon batter into pan, smoothing top with a spatula. bake for 55-60 min or until a cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. While cake is baking, make glaze by stirring together the lemon juice and sugar. set it aside. Remove cake from oven, set on rack and after 5 min, turn cake out on plate. poke many holes in top of hot cake with cake tester or toothpick. Stir the glaze to combine, and immediately brush it on the hot cake, cont to brush on glaze until all glaze is absorbed.

I served it with cut strawberries....

Super cool! Isn't it amazing what we can find in our stash! I had some striped purple cards from Big Lots that I used today too! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who buys cards just for the envelopes.
My son was at it again. This time with some awesome blondies I'm going to get even fatter if he keeps this up! Talk about buttery goodness!

Out of 5 cards I have to finish, I got 2-1/2 done. But I did finally get my first box of cards sent off to the Hospital. Ended up grabbing a flat rate envelope to put them in and it would have ended up about the same price if I had had to buy an envelope at the Post Office, so I just sent them in the flat rate envelope for $5.
Meg, the envelopes you found stashed in your closet sound perfect for these pink cards we have been making. I have a whole drawer full of envelopes in various sizes. Most of them are too big for A2 size but I keep thinking I will make a larger card some day.
I will have to look and see if I can change my settings somewhere on Splitcoast to see if that will adjust the time it says I post.

Yeah, I admit that when I child-minded my best friend's daughter full time for three months when she was abroad I did have to vacuum pretty much every day after she'd gone home. Especially on the days we crafted or cooked. The day we went to the library and her ballet afternoon were usually OK though.

That lemon cake sounds lovely, Sheri - we're away this weekend buy maybe the following one I'll give it a try.
I use allrecipes a bit when I'm looking for something, also epicurious.com.
Those envelopes sound like a perfect find, Meg!
Turned the laptop on this morning to be greeted by the dreaded Database Error message popping up in all the SCS windows I had open - TG it was fixed when I came back to try again .

Not sure if you send cards to older folks or anyone who might have lower mobility or a stroke. I use larger envelopes for those people but keep the card the same size. I usually also write any message on a slip of paper and include a envelope for the card if it's going to my gma. She then can use the card herself.
ANyway she's had a few strokes and can't get tight fitting mail out of the envelopes herself but a regualr sized card in the next size up envie works great.

I don't really know how to sew from a pattern. I either make my things up or quilt. But my machine (which I LOVE) stopped behaving and it would cost more than it's worth to fix so ti's in the cabinet. My mom was getting a new bells & whistles machine so she gave me her old one that is a model up from the one I have. Just needed to figure all the bobbin stuff and the what nots and the whoseitfors

So good morning. I was up way early and then followed closely by my six year old. We still have an hour before we need to get serious about getting ready.

MWAAHAAAA!!! I now have visions of a sewing lmachine running mad across my room sewing up everything in sight.....I just bought a "all the bells and whistles" machine last yr and so love it.....Sewing is my therapy in the colder months when I can't garden.....You should take a class, it really isn't hard and as creative as you are, you would love to quilt I'm thinking...some of the art quilts out there are extremely blinged up....

I'm blah.. so I decided to take a 1/2 day off today. I lose the days if I don't use them, so what the heck...

Up to date on the challenges but will get behind now. Grandson is coming to stay for a couple of days (MEA) and we have to lay a twin mattress in my craft'/computer room so it will be difficult (if not impossible) to craft until Sunday. He's worth it, though.

My oldest is home again today too. He's not sick but he's really producing too much stomach acid and won't be able to get to the bathroom fast enough at school since it's (ridiculously) 3 buildings away.

He's been coloring all morning and I'm trying to fill him with carbs to absorb some of the acid. Poor kid.

Mine was cold macaroni cheese, LOL.
But we had a lovely hot risotto for dinner, with some really nice New Zealand wine that I'd opened to use in the risotto.
Trying to catch up with yesterday's sketch challenge and fit in an extra for HYCCT while I'm at it.
3 buildings to the bathroom for kids - that's downright crazy. They're pretty good at holding on till they're desperate and then needing to get there in seconds is my experience.

I used to eat crap like that for lunch! I gained 40 pounds over the past 8 years. So I've lost 42 since June 7th and had a yummy bowl of cottage cheese and Greek yogurt sweetened with Stevia and a dash of coconut flavoring for lunch. Really is yummy!

I finally got my cards in the mail to MD Anderson today. I sent 19. I am behind four cards so I am heading to the dungeon to work before I have to go to the church and practice.

Here's the link to the soup recipe. BTW I never use the whole pound of bacon, more like 6-8slices or whatever fits into the bottom of my kettle and I pour off most of the fat before the next step. I also use fat free half and half and it is still plenty creamy, hmmmm maybe the 6 cups of cheese have something to do with that! If you use the light beer it has a much milder taste. I've also used Guinness for a whole different, more bold flavor. I like to make crostini to float in the soup.... we tried the Wisconsin thing of putting popcorn in, but it just gets soggy and I wasn't impressed.

Too good to pass up!) But the awesome part is that one box had all the envelopes lined IN PINK! Plus had little heart stickers to seal each one that I'm putting in the card bag.

Hey, Meredith, I'll take a some of those peanut butter cookies off your hands!
Hi Meg! (waving)

How perfect are those envies huh?

You can have some cookies - but you have to come over here to get them (HEH! LOL!) Better make it soon, hubby has been scarfing them down! (Ty has too!)
