We didn't quite get that much last night and I was happy to see it too! That would take awhile to do with the 4wheeler! And in gym shoes?! I need to plow, tomorrow, esp. the nice berm left by the road grator We use a full size Blazer tho, and no hills, otherwise dh or neighbor would be doing it each time, or it wouldn't be done, not me anyway.

LOL...yep...we can't plow our road with the ATV...just our driveway is a huge enough job!
We're in the Wet Mountains of Colorado....about an hour SW of Pueblo and at 8,000 ft. We both grew up in Colorado so we love our snow! I never am sure who has more fun either....the dogs or hubby!!!
We had a wonderful day. I cooked all day in preparation for the feast tomorrow - we have a full house. All is bought, wrapped, cooked, baked, delivered ... and I am now sitting in the light of the tree, relaxing with a glass of wine.
We had dinner with my mother, who has Alzheimers. She remembered us all today - and that was wonderful. Then off to church to hear my daughter sing a solo. A gathering at our dear friends' home - and then home to hang stockings and read the Polar Express. My kids are 23 and 16, but the traditions are very important to them. I love that!
I hope you are all feeling the happiness and contentment that I am experiencing right now -- and that your holidays are filled with laughter and love.

Hi everyone! No matter how you celebrate the season, I hope you've been having a joyous time with the people who are dear to you.
We went to visit my parents for a few days, then came back home last night. Even though our kids are 13 and 15 now, we still like for them to wake up at home on Christmas morning and spend as much of the day as possible here. We'll be heading back down to my parents' in January to celebrate with my sisters. One is visiting her inlaws out of state now, and the other had my parents and her inlaws over today for a Christmas meal.
We had a good Christmas here, just the four of us. I have to admit, though, that I'm looking forward to a week of being able to sleep in instead of having to get up to make sure the kids get ready for school on time. LOL
Had a wonderful Christmas here too! Spent a few days with my mom who is doing much better now that her radiation treatments are over. It was great to see her skin healing so well from the radiation burn. Both my siblings and all their kids were there (now that we have some adult kids it is getting rarer to have the whole group of grandkids together.) We drove back Christmas Eve and had our tradition of opening one gift before bed time. My husband preached a good message and my daughter and son provided great music for our Christmas Day service. After a quick lunch we enjoyed opening our gifts together (which included Lovely as a Tree, a couple of dies and a letterpress plate for me!!!) then my family blessed me by deciding we should wait and have our Christmas dinner today and we worked together to make a less complicated, but still yummy meal. Today we'll just enjoy family time together before we put our oldest son on a plane in the wee hours for a trip to Korea with a group from his college who will be doing an English camp there. Sitting here this morning feeling so blessed! Hope you are all enjoying family, friends, food and fellowship over the holiday!
Assembling things isn't my skill or my husband's either...thankfully we somehow managed to give birth to a son with amazing ability in this area. I've told him he can't move too far away from us when he leaves for college etc. because he's been doing all the assembling for us for YEARS. Can't wait to see yours up and running. I'm so excited for you.
IT'S HERE!!!! In many large and heavy boxes! And it hasn't snowed all winter - until today! Pics of truck, the pallet in our garage and hubby looking at the directions.
Gail. We need your son!

And the DVD it comes with -- for the visual learners, like us. We sat & watched the whole thing then looked at each other in amazement LOL! DH is starting to bring pieces in now - I'd better go help (with the camera at the ready.)

Oooh my goodness, I read this really wrong... I thought you were saying that the fact that you gave birth to a son meant you did have some skill in assembling things. Laughing...................

Oh my goodness, Vicki, so exciting!
Laughing here too because when I speed-read it that's what I thought too.
I can feel the excitement, Vicki - yaay.
If I lived near I'd offer to come and help - used to help DH assemble merchandising displays for shops. I really impressed one particular customer with my skills when we were doing a big job in his shop . But the DVD should be a great help, with the pause button as a trusty ally.
Oh my gooness, HOW EXCITING!!!!!! As for assembling sons - however you want to read that - I have one 17 year old here who'd think he'd died and gone to heaven to have that to put together. I always tell him he should start a business hiring himself out to do flatpack assembly for people who find the directions might as well have been written in Chinese! Looking forward to seeing it all together, Vicki, thanks for letting us share in your excitement!

Bridget, we would have hired him in heartbeat! We may still -- and pay his way across the pond!

I'm laughing out loud at the mistaken impression I gave. I did have a Southern friend who told my husband and I, "Y'all cook good!" when she saw our cute little kiddos!
I'll have to mention the idea to my son about renting out his skills....could be a way to earn some $$$.
How is the trip going so far Dina?
Holy cow -- the structure is done, just have to put the shelves in. But, in the words of Scarlet O'Hara, tomorrow is another day.
We spent a ton of time moving furniture around trying to find the best spot for the Scrapbox. We moved my heavy desk about a dozen times until we moved it back to where it originally was -- and that put the scrapbox where my dh thought it should go in the first place....
Tomorrow I will give my craft space a good cleaning (once you move the furniture, you can see how dirty it really is!). Then I'll put the shelves in place & start thinking about what will go where... and cook my dh a very nice dinner!

How exciting, Vicki! It's so fun to read the happiness in your posts (well, except for the frustration about hearing the one part of the video over and over)!

Well, yes - I think there's at least one person who offers to assemble IKEA flatpacks - there's certainly a demand for that sort of skill!
Putting the shelves in and filling them is going to be the fun bit!! I was showing the ScrapBox site to DH and he was very impressed with it as storage.
More pics! One of DH & I during a stressful moment when we thought we couldn't get the hinges to line up - that was a little scary as you can tell by my face!
The other pic is of it as it is right now. I have to put the shelves in and figure out where things might go ... fun!!!!
I don't know what I did to get so lucky but I am truly thankful.
Funny thing -- people are stopping in to look at the scrapbox like it's the 8th wonder of the world LOL!~

Wow... it sure looks awesome! I'm impressed that you and your DH went from that huge pallet in your garage to the 8th wonder of the stamping world in 24 hours. And other than the look of sheer panic on your face, both of you appear to have survived the assembly without a scratch. Well done!

Vicki, I really enjoyed reading all about the assembly of your prize - and seeing the photos. How very exciting and wonderful. I have to tell you that I'm glad I didn't win that! Not only do I not have room for it, but I'm not sure I'm physically up to assembling something of that size. I've put plenty of shelves and cabinets together in my day, but nothing that complex. It sure looks great and what fun you will have filling it.
I had a good Christmas too altho I did go through a stressful couple of weeks when my calendar seemed to explode (or did it cave in on top of me?) LOL! The ladies in my Sunday School class gave me a Dutch oven as a gift, and so far my favorite thing to use it for is Dutch Oven Bread. It has a very long first rise and almost has a sourdough taste. Yummy! One of the things my daughter gave me was a Magic Bullet (as-seen-on-TV) and I used it to make banana nut muffins. Yummy again! I love kitchen gadgets!
Happy New Year to all and I pray that each of you and your families will be blessed with good health as well as material and spiritual blessings.

Vicki, the expression on your face is priceless! Your DH deserves a medal for his dedication to your hobby! I'm sure you'll find a way to thank him....a beautiful card, perhaps??
Looking forward to seeing a photo when it's all filled up too!

Vicki, thanks for sharing the photos and the story. I really loved the part about hubby listening to the same part of the DVD 50 times. LOL And I agree with Bridget, hubby deserves a medal and a big kiss!
How wonderful that you won! It appears you have plenty of room for the scrapbox. I'd not have room for it anywhere in my little house.
