Hello! Checking in here. I was looking thru the gallery and got the "this section is down for maintenance" message, grrrr.... : } I'm off of work today so thought I'd spend some quiet time checking out more of everyone's handiwork for inspiration. I had to pick dh up at the airport at 1:30am, we didn't fall into bed till 3am. Since he was up for over 24 hrs, he's trying to catch up on some zzzzzzzzzzzz. This is the quietest "task" I can think of doing, besides reading a book, since I can't seem to sleep : )

I go through that every night, I'm not sure what to do since my DH works nights. It's so frustrating.

My first weekend of post-surgery driving was two weekends ago, 1.5 hour trip to San Diego for a scrapbook retreat on Shelter Island. Rain pounded down me on the way down Friday, light rain most of the way home Sunday afternoon.

But Saturday ... oh my ... what a beautiful day. And I got a lovely photo of a rainbow over the harbor. I just wish I had my good camera instead of my little point and shoot.

Curious ...
Anyone know how many people took part in the HYCCT challenge?
Anyone know what the finally card tally was?

I know there's a lot that participated, however there's only a number of people who completed each challenge. Not sure how many.

Lydia would know the number of people.
The number of cards uploaded to the gallery stands at 3, 582. But I know there are at least a few more because I know somebody didn't want hers in that gallery, she wanted them in the galleries for the SU sets she'd used.

Somewhere just under 80 people completed all the challenges .
There are 81 posts in the thread - one was Lydia's first post, and I think a couple of people made two rather than one because of various posting issues.

Was there a card count at UT MD Anderson? I know I sent in extras and I heard a lot of others saying that too. It felt so good to send cards off knowing what they'd be used for!!!!

I was scanning all of the names and prizes today. My assumption was that anything $50 and over was in the drawings for the people who did all of the cards but that does not seem to be true. And so far, more than half of the winners have come from the people who did not complete all of the challenges so everything is up for grabs. Maybe just the $1600 prize is the one for the grand prize drawing as all the others are given away equally at this point.

I completely agree. Sorry about the name-calling with your kiddos. Mine have been that way as well. Maybe it is the reaction to coming down off of all of the sugar from Halloween.

What, you mean you haven't read all 4136 posts!!! The prize stuff hasn't been clear to me either. I also believe that Lydia answered a while back that you can win more than one prize as well, and I think that has happened already.

I think it's that even if you win a non-grand prize, you're still eligible for the grand prize drawing so long as you completed all the challenges...but I could be wrong.

Meredith -- there are some really good videos on youtube -- you should check those out! I find crochet easier than knitting, but that could be because my grandmother taught me to crochet when I was little.

I had asked whether we were no longer eligible after we'd won a prize and she replied

When my daughter went to teach my son how to knit he asked her why she was knitting left-handed and my right-handed daughter just then realized that in learning several years ago from her left-handed friend; she'd inadvertently learned that way!!! She and I are so spatially challenged!

I guess so - because my mother taught me basic knitting when I was young and I can knit almost anything, but crochet is a challenge because I taught myself! I was even able to improve the design of the collar when I was knitting up a designer's sample for the pattern brochure. Her instructions just didn't work.

Pretty much bedtime here, as the gesso still isn't dry on the book page I want to stamp on. A day off tomorrow, happy thought .
Enjoy the rest of your days over there.

If it works, it works . I used to be able to knit both ways, but somewhere along the way I switched to exclusively right. Now my shoulder is quite sore these days I should see can I switch back, I have a couple of knitting projects lined up for nephews and nieces.

Oh Gail - I'm sorry! You are having the kind of day I had yesterday. I hope yours resolves the same way mine did -- my son came home and APOLOGIZED!!! yes, it's true.

I told him he restored my faith in humanity LOL!

Hang in there, mom. Some days are just plain hard.

My daughter has some projects planned when she returns from Mongolia Here's one! I'm amazed at what she can do....I never learned to knit or crochet so I've been no help to her. Here's a scarf she made for my son
