I've been trying to work all afternoon, but all this chatting keeps drawing me back! Anymore announcements, Lydia?
I have to leave and go do some work in a bit, and I'm afraid I might miss something!

Well I don't either since we homeschool! LOL And hubby and DS slog out to get firewood...not me!!!

OK girls...you can't blame me if someone gets salmonella! This is made the old way without cooking the eggs. There is probably a way to adapt it but I never have...

Edenton Eggnog

12 eggs; separated
1 pkg powdered sugar; sifted
1.5-2 cups dark rum; divided
1.5-2 cups bourbon; divided
1 quart milk
1.5 quart whipping cream
freshly grated nutmeg

Beat egg yolks until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until thick and
lemon colored. Stir in 1cup of rum and 1 cup of bourbon, mixing well. Chill
1 hour.

Stir in the remaining rum and bourbon. Add milk and whipping cream,
stirring well.

Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until soft peaks form. Gently fold
into yolk mixture. Chill thoroughly. Sprinkle eggnog with nutmeg.

You could probably substitute Egg Beaters for the raw eggs if you wanted. No, probably not -- your recipe calls for separating the eggs.

I think all that alcohol probably kills any germs that might be in the raw eggs! But if you were drinking virgin eggnog, I'd go with the cooked kind, for sure!

Oh it's not about the bacteria.....I'll eat cookie dough! It's just that in cookie dough the texture is fine, but in liquid I just think of oooogie raw eggs! LOL

All this chattin' about food, NCIS, fudge, pumpkin, surgeries - too much drama - had to go get a piece of pumpkin pie - dinner is going to be late - what else have I missed?

Storebought eggnog is heavy and creamy. Homemade eggnog is light and fluffy. Spiked or not!

I actually do not care for the storebought eggnog. My mom used to make us kids eggnog for breakfast all the time -- and I did the same for my kids. An egg, a cup of milk, a little sugar (I now use Equal), and some vanilla. Yummy!

If you had Promised Land eggnog you'd love it. I feel the same way, but Promised Land is made by angels.

We don't have Bluebell here....we have Blue Bunny though and it's yummy! I think there's one Krispy Kreme in Denver.....there were a couple more and one in Springs, but they closed.

Is that indigenous to Texas, or is it available all over? I'm unfamiliar with the name.
