Whew! All caught up. 14 pages of sillies, ice cubes, food, and PRIZE WINNERS! Congrats to all the winners!

I even found my name buried on one of the pages. If you haven't read through them all ... that should be inspiration!

I so should not be reading all of this at work ....

I only ever use mine for spiced cider at the holidays and chili cheese dip before I started eating healthy. Because canned chili, cream cheese, sharp cheddar and fritos SCOOPS apparently arent' "healthy"

So...my update...just showered, got dressed, DH is "working from home" aka, coming up to see what I'm doing in between every meeting that he has! haha

Now, I need to get to the store for some Christmas gifts.

I'm sure that chicken and biscuits recipe is going to be great!

Kalua Pork

It's a cheap cut of pork with some liquid smoke and coarse salt rubbed in. I do it in the oven and it's not as good. I serve it with rice and sauteed cabbage. Amazingly delicious for something with so few ingredients. You can Google for an exact recipe.

I think there are 30 or so winner postings so far. You'll have to go back and dig.

There are announcements spread through this thread - not sure if there is one main list.

Be sure to get one that the insert comes out for easy cleaning.

Everybody needs a crockpot. I had a small one for years and then got a 3-1 for Xmas a couple of years ago, I love it. 1 base, 3 different sized crocks, so I can pick depending on what I am making and it doesn't take up as much space, which is important when your kitchen is approximately the same size as a hallway.

Love all this food talk. I'm getting hungry. I have one for you that is quick and easy for a crockpot. Round steak cut into pieces that fit into your crock and a can or two (depending on how much round steak you use) of Manwich. Let it go until you get home and you can shred the meat and eat on sandwiches or just take out the pieces and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, noodles or any way you want it. It's wonderful.

Congrats to all the winners so far!!

How about Baked Potato soup? Found this from Amanda's blog:

From:
A Year of Slow Cooking: Slow Cooker Baked Potato Soup Recipe

--5 lbs potatoes, peeled and diced in 1 to 2-inch chunks
--1 teeny onion, diced (I used dried chopped onion - 2 tsp)
--4 cloves garlic, minced
--1 teaspoon seasoned salt
--1/2 teaspoon black pepper
--1/2 teaspoon red pepper
--2 quarts chicken broth
--2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, to add at the end (I used lowfat)
--crumbled bacon and green onion or chives as garnish (optional)

The Directions:

Use a 6 quart or larger slow cooker. (I used a big stock pot and did mine on the stove because I ran out of time) Peel and dice the potatoes, and put them into the stoneware. Add onion and garlic. Sprinkle in the seasonings, and pour in the broth. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or on high for 4. (I boiled for about 20 minutes until the potatoes were soft) The potatoes should be fork-tender. You can use a potato masher to mash the potatoes in the soup, or a hand-held immersible blender. I suppose you can also leave the potatoes in chunks, if you really wanted, but I wanted a smooth soup. After smashing the potatoes, crumble in both packages of cream cheese, and put the lid back on. Cook on high for about 30 minutes (I used my hand held mixer and put it in the big pot with an over mit on my hand. Then I blended it up with the chunks of cream cheese until smooth and let it simmer on low for about 5 minutes), or until the cream cheese is completely dissolved. Stir a few times during the 30 minutes.Garnish with crumbled bacon, green onion or chives, and I'd assume cheddar cheese would be just delightful.

I use it way more now than. Since the crocks are seperate they are easy to clean up and the biggest is perfect for family meals when DH is home, the smaller ones for when he is out of town and its just me and the rugrats and I use them for cooking apples because I have several applesauce addicts in my house, so I get apples when they are on sale and make a bunch at a time, usually adding in some frozen fruit for different flavors.

LOVE baked potato soup!
