Default online google reader

I just signed into my 'google reader account' and it states that they will retire the site July 1. If you used an internet site to store your blog favorite online sites; what is your choice? or do you have another way to hold your favorite blogs; the favorite folders is not of my choosing. Too many sites to view.

I found this CNET article last night.

I'm trying out Feedly today and so far it seems OK. Plus I like that they have already addressed the issue that they pull directly from Google reader and already have another alternative in development Here

I use Feeddler on my iPhone/iPad and Cappuccino on my Mac. Both are great. Not sure what's good for Windows.

I went over to Feedly last night. I am on Windows 7. I can't say if I hate it or love it because I am still mad at Google. It does seem like a nice reader. It's very clean. I don't like the themes. I think the programmers are dudes because the theme had no pink colors, lol. All the colors were way over bright or 1970's hospital colors. I did like that Feedly was customizable.

Thanks for your opinion on Feedly. I was in a state of panic when I read GR will be no more. I had everything just the way I wanted it and now I have to "change."

I'm using Bloglovin' I like it so much better than Feedly in my opinion. I have Windows7. I also use it on my iphone & so far I love it! I'm also not very happy with Google for not keeping the Google Reader which I've used for years & loved sooooooo much!

I've read about this on a few blogs now (I am on the search for a new feed reader myself), and most people seem to be heading to either Feedly or Bloglovin. They both sound quite good.

Oh dear I'm going to need some help. Is this to push people onto Google+? I love my google reader. Indeed it annoys me when blogs didn't have that option because I could just scan through on my reader that I accessed through my blog.

Am I going to have to "re-follow" all the blogs I follow?

I don't know how it would work with G+, but Feedly and Bloglovin will both import your feeds for you, all you have to do is sign into your Google account. The idea of not having to re-follow all the blogs I read is a big plus to me!

I am going to try BlogLovin too. I was on Feedly tonight and it seemed slow. That could be because everyone is trying it though. I am going to go back and fourth on Feedly and BlogLovin for a couple of weeks to see which one fits me better. Thank you for the recommendation.

Here's how to export your feeds.

Log into your Google Reader.
Click the settings button. It looks like a gear.
Go to Import/Export tab
Click Download Your Data Through TakeOut
Click Create Archive

After archive is created click download. It will probably take you back to your sign in page so they know it's you who is downloading the data.

Save your file to where you keep your downloads. I keep mine on my desktop since I archive them nightly.

I heard Google+ is on the chopping block too. Google Scholar is on the chopping block and a few other services are probably coming up in the next year or so. I read a lot of tech sites since I am a computer geek. I don't go for rumor sites. The worst thing in tech are rumors. Tech gurus are saying Google wants to go into developing products over services and are starting a phase out. I am not too surprised by this news because I kind of seen it coming when the new Nexxus Tablet and phones were such a hit. Google+ is a probability because it does not have the followers like Facebook and Twitter. This was one of the official reasons that Google gave for closing Reader. Google said it was not as popular as Twitter.

Default Reader

I downloaded quite a few last night. I like bloglovin but I couldn't find it for my ipad which is where I usually read most of my blogs. Are there any suggestions for ones that you can use on both windows and ipad?

i'm waiting until I see what the net comes up with. I tried downloading feedly twice and got nothing. I am not computer savvy; not sure what I'm missing. so I'll wait and some enterprising 14 year old kid will become a millionaire overnight reproducing google reader! at least i hope so...

If it was, it certainly has the opposite effect on me! In fact I'd pull out of Chrome if it wasn't the easiest browser for moderating in.
I was so disappointed when I got that message the other day - very short-sighted of Google if you ask me, it's generated a lot of unhappy people, and people saying if they pull Reader what's next.

Thanks to Google I am playing lets sample all the blog readers. I feel like I am living in a 1990's tech world again, lol. I use to test all the e-mail clients back then. So far I love OldReader. It's set up just like Google Reader before they did the huge updates last year. I was able to transfer my feeds over. There is a back log of getting all the feeds synced since there is a lot of traffic over there now since Google made the announcement. I do understand what those poor developer's are going through. I am patient. I am using OldReader on Windows 7. I am not sure how tablet friendly or phone friendly this reader is or if they have an app. You will need to sign in through Google or Facebook to receive your feeds.

Joan you made me smile. Thank you. Digg is apparently working on a Reader just like Google. I know some people have problems with Digg. I hope Digg gets a hit with a Google clone. I bet it will be tablet friendly too.

Does anyone know if there is a spot on 'bloglovin' to not receive daily emails of new blog entries. I don't like receiving the email everyday, but, prefer to go to the site to read my blogs. Everything did transfer nicely; but, I have to redo all my blogs to folders again, so, not a simple adjustment

Default Google Chrome for reading rss feeds

If I wasn't so in bed with Google, I'd say run in the other direction, but I live on up to 7 different computers. (including tablet and phone) and I love having my email and Web browser synced across all hardware via the "cloud". I too was saddened to hear that Google Reader was going away, so after doing some research, I found an RSS reader Extension to use with Google Chrome.

I am becoming used to bloglovin; and like that they have folders to create. Now, I need
to put the icon on my desktop, but can't figure out how to do that with windows 7. Has anyone done it?

I have been looking into the alternatives to Google Reader and still haven't made up my mind and I am letting the dust settle before I decide.

I can tell you that Feedly works with the following:
iOS, Android, Firefox, Chrome and Safari but it does NOT work with Internet Explorer and there are no plans to make it work in IE. On my stats in Blogger, the browser most used to look at my blog is Internet Explorer at 38%, with Chrome and Firefox being 14% each, Safari 12% and the rest are a variety of others. So it is something to bear in mind for your readers.

Sorry, I was getting confused. I thought that you would have a Feedly button on your blog like you do with Google Reader where you have a thing to click on "Join this site" - but if you only had IE as your browser, it wouldn't work with Feedly. I just added my Google Reader blogs to Feedly to see how it works (I have Mozilla Firefox on my home computer too and did it through Mozilla obviously), and it seems you can add a blog to Feedly by typing in the URL. You are right about it not mattering if you are the author of your blog - you are only choosing a Reader like you said. I had it all mixed up - my humblest apologies :(

I wonder how you will know how many Blog Readers your blog has like Google Reader where you have the number of members listed on your blog? Not that I have a lot and it's not a big deal - I am just curious? Anyone know?

I guess the other thing is that where I live in accommodation at the hospital where my loved one has been having treatment for over a year, they have a public computer section where you can log on as a guest but they only have Internet Explorer and no other browser, so I can't access Feedly from there. Not sure what to do about that but will see what others suggest. I get so mixed up when there are new things to learn and it was so much easier to just use Google Reader because I understood it.

I tried Feedly but didn't like all the advertising I was seeing. Never occurred to me to see what browser compatibility it had! Still waiting for Old Reader to import my data and hoping that it will be the one for me"

bloglovin has only one advertisement when opening the posts, but, easy to just scroll past. I like bloglovin because I don't have to scan a whole page; it shows the picture on the page, to give you an idea if you are interested in reading the page. for me, much faster viewing, as I have a lot of blogs, I view. Easy to organize a lot of blogs into categorical folders, also
