Talking Older supplies...

Finish this sentence (just for fun--because I've had a bad week and it's only Wednesday!).......

The last time I sat down to stamp, the oldest thing I used was __________________________________.

My answer: My Creative Memories Circle Cutter. It was one of the first tools I got about 12 years ago and I still find I use it a lot. Money well spent.

Now...your turn!

I guess that would have to be my brain. It will be 50 years old this year. Other than that, the oldest thing I used the last time I stamped was a $1 Studio G stamp set that I bought about 3 years ago.

My Stampamajig or my SU stamp scrubber. I can't remember which I got first.

My markers. I have had them for probably 8 years and used to use them to color in those huge detailed posters that come in a cylinder.

A Making Memories paper pack that I bought over 10 years ago! Had 4 sheets of pp, buttons, alpha stickers and I made 14 cards from it!

My original Scor-Pal. Got it in 2008 - still use it every time to score my cards.

Some Basic Grey Granola designer paper from 2008 for making a birthday card for my nephew - it is the latest card in my gallery. I bought this paper when I first started cardmaking in 2008 and joined SCS. I still love this range by Basic Grey - and I am about to make a card using their Archaic range which has been around FOREVER too! I love the older ranges of BG dp's for masculine cards.

Neenah Classic Crest Smooth Solar White Cardstock. I bought several reams on sale 5 or 6 years ago.

Oh wait it was probably my acrylic block... I got that in the UK with my See D's collection so probably around 2002-04 region...

Actually, my most recent project used several of my Creative Memories tools from 18 years ago - my corner rounder, 12" trimmer (although that is soon to be replaced with the new one from SU! since they discontinued the blades for the CM trimmer), my small trimmer, my original tape runner (they have brought out 3 different versions since then, but I still hang on to my trusty old one), my circle punches (both sizes) and my hexagon punch.

Definitely was worth the money spent on all of these products, and whenever I make purchasing decisions, I usually choose tools over consumables.

Some "Dazzles" dimensional stickers I got in a Paperwishes paperpack about a year ago. I needed to make a birthday card for my 13 year old granddaughter in the "Steampunk" style, and the stickers were of gears and clocks which were perfect for the Steampunk style. I also used a piece of patterned paper with an owl on it from an old K & Company paperpack.

Here is the card, if you'd like to look:

Striped SU designer paper from the late 90's. It has an orange background with red, green and yellow stripes. Trying to use what I have and stop hoarding it! But I'll admit, I love that paper and hated to let it go.

Other than my brain (LOL!) it would be my 6 inch clear quilt ruler that I've had for at least 20 years. I use it more for paper crafting than sewing since I still use my metal seam gauge from the days of 8th grade Home Ec classes in 1964-65.

The old 3-pc Creative Memories 'chalking set' -- it was available for only a short time. I've used the brown inked one to give card elements an aged look. Never did use it for scrapbooking.

Used just yesterday: a twelve-inch cork-backed metal ruler that I "borrowed" from my dad sometime in the early 1980's. Possibly late 70's since I've been a papercraftin' fool since I was a kid. Also used a couple days ago: a 30-60-90 triangle I "borrowed" from my mom around the same time. I have the matching 45-45-90 triangle and an 18-inch metal ruler I "borrowed" from them too. I was always using them so I guess they just let me keep them. I still have the X-acto knife I got in 1986 for an art class my sophomore year in high school. I think those are the oldest things I have, and I still use them all the time.

Fun topic, thanks!

my SU markers. Older than dirt! In fact a few of them are finally fraying at the ends. Sure got my money's worth out of that purchase.

I still have my first versamark pad I bought in 2008 and it still works fine! I am impressed with this little fact! I have another because I thought the first one would wear out or get dry but they are both still going strong! I used it on my DH birthday card this week!

I use my CM oval, circle & wavy border cutting tools a lot still as well as my CM corner rounder punch. My SU paper trimmer (though my numbers have worn off in places) & scrub are up there in years too!

It's probably my grey and orange Fiskars straight cutter. I've replaced many blades but still like it. Though I've used others belonging to other people, I still like my old reliable Fiskars.

Hmm.. looking at my last card I think that my oldest product is my Copic markers!

I started buying markers in 2007 so that would make a good bunch of them 6 years old! I don't have many other supplies/tools from back then because for the most part I've sold/donated the old stuff and have upgraded to newer/better! I was on a tight budget when I started cardmaking and some of the things I bought were cheap and not good quality. I've learned my lesson!!

My Scalpel - I have had it since I was at art college which makes it 22 years old!!!!! I use it on every project I make, far better for detailed work than any other craft knife! don't know what I'd do without it.

I have a lot of DSP that I'm trying to use up. But it IS hard to let some of the favorites go.

My oldest tool is probably my Fiskars cutter. I do love it. I have two others, but always go back to that one.

I made a baby card with SU's Gable Green cardstock (retired many moons ago) and I paired it with Tempting Turquoise, which is still current. I found some ribbon from Making Memories that matched exactly! That multi-pack of ribbon was probably bought three/four years ago.

It feels soooo good to make use of older stuff! I think Gable Green feels like a fresh, current color because of all the wonderful colors we are still seeing in shirts, pants, scarves, etc.!

Oh, yes....as someone posted above....my SU paper trimmer, mine must be about 6 yrs. old.

This was a fun thread....great idea!

Some star-shaped eyelets in yellow that I bought from SU a long time ago. 2004 or 2005 maybe? I was quite proud of myself for remembering I had them and actually using them. They are just embellishment around a Happy Birthday sentiment there is nothing in the design of the card that "needed" STARS....but it needed "something" and those worked!
