Sentiments

So I'm kind of disappointed with SU because they don't have any real thoughtful sentiments for inside my cards. I'm just wondering if this is me. Do you stamp or write your sentiments inside?

I don't have the best handwritting so I'm thinking maybe I need to start printing it off the printer. Just wondering what most people do.

I mostly use sentiments from store bought cards that people have given me....I copy the sayings using my computer and print on cardstock. And sometimes I find cheap card sets in dollar stores...I cut out sayings front and back...mat them and attach to card.

My LSS (not Michael's or Joanne's) has many terrific poems and sayings for inside cards on rubber, so I use those when I use inside sentiments. But I usually keep it simple inside. Or look at some different companies - I know Verve, Lawn Fawn, and several ptheres here have some great sentiments, along with scripture, if that's what you like.

You could always find the saying you most like and type them up on the computer is a nice script and in coordinating colors. I am with you on the handwriting - my DH has better writing than I do, and we both agree on that!

I have several sets of clear stamp sentiments that I use a lot. Just the general stuff, Thinking of you, Happy Birthday, Belated Birthday, etc.

But I usually type the inside sentiment on my computer and print it out. That way I can have any sentiment I want.

I have a couple of sets with sentiments for inside cards, but I have found that after I have used them once or twice I am tired of them. I prefer just to make my own so that it is unique in every card. I leave them blank until I know who it is going to, so then I am usually in too much of a hurry to print something out on the computer. So even though I hate my handwriting, I end up just writing it most of the time. I think it is more personal that way too (as long as they can read what I wrote..HA!)

I print the inserts for my cards on the computer. I use a font appropriate to the front of the card and match the colour of the font to the design on the front. That way I can also personalise the inside sentiment.

Bugga, I downloaded that same file I think. I just couldn't find anything for pet sympathy. So I googled pet sympathy verses and found a few nice things. But that file really is big and has lots of stuff to choose from. Maybe it's been updated since I downloaded. It's been a while.

It would be nice to see some sentiment sets specifically for insides of cards - I will go add that feedback to the sandbox.

One suggestion is to use split sentiments, where you could put part of the sentiment on the front and part on the inside along with other stamps.

Example - Petite Pairs You could use "Sending a kiss" on the front of your card, and then on the inside stamp the other "to make it better" along with a "get well soon" or other more generic sentiment from another set.

This is one I have visited a few times. There is another one, I think it's called The Quote Garden or something similar and there are some nice things on there that can be used inside a card.

My Favorite Things has a line of stamps "Clearly Sentimental About ..." with wonderful sayings and quotes!

Search - clearly sentimental about

"Our Daily Bread" is another favorite of mine for sentiments for the inside of cards. I love the size of them, and how wonderful they stamp.

I guess I'm in the minority! I stamp some straight lines on the inside of my card and then I write on the lines. Too cheap to use my printer ink ($16 per cartridge!!!). Also too lazy to cut the printer paper to size and adhere it to the inside of the card.

Though it would be wonderful to have a stamp for the inside that says:
"Dear .........
How are you? I'm fine, nothing new here. Just saying hello.
Love and miss you lots. Love, Sophie"

I could stamp that on the insides of all the cards I send to my nephews and nieces! Love making the cards, hate writing in them!!

I just found a book on writing thank you sentiments. I'll have to go home to get title. I also have a bunch of poetry on a thread that you could snip and clip bits for sentiments. I like stamps, have computer generated some, but when I had no ink or stamp, I wrote by hand. If your cursive is indecipherable, print.

I do my sentiments on my computer. Often for both outside and inside. More often just for the inside.

But I have always wondered why there aren't more stamp sets for the outside and inside of cards... A couple of Happy Birthdays for the front and several options for the inside in the same font style, for instance. Seems like a hole in the market.

I use a lot of nice quotes for the inside of my cards and print them in different colors/fonts.

The quotes I pick according to the recipient of the card and what I think they might like.

Almost all the cards I send include a personal note but there is usually a sentiment on the front of the card ("Congratulations", "Happy Birthday" etc.)

Even waaaay back when I sent store-bought cards I usually included a short handwritten note so I still do that.

Sometimes I'll have a card without a sentiment on the front so I might stamp one inside but there is still room for a personal note.

I like receiving cards with handwritten notes (whether the writing is legible or not) and I like including a heartfelt message in the cards I send. I get a lot of inspiration from the document dazzling20 and other SCSers update (someone already provided the link).

ETA: One exception is Christmas cards where I might have a stamped sentiment inside and just sign our names. If I ever made them before December 20-something I might include a personal note but most times they are mailed on 12/24 so some corners get cut.
