I was just on the SU! Website and they just introduced photopolymer stamps. They only have 1 set so far, but I'm tempted to buy it just to try it out. Anyone here use photopolymer stamps? Any pro and cons?
Photopolymer is the best sort of clear stamp available. Generally, the pros are they are cheaper. The cons can be that they work best only with certain inks- chalks, Versafine and a lot of pigments spring to mind. They don't work well with 'wet' inks like Distress. You should not use Staz-on with them as Staz-on cleaner will harm them. Also, no matter how well you look after them, they will not last as long as rubber stamps. I do have photopolymer stamps that I have had for a lot of years though, so its probably all relative, lol. Some early clear stamps I bought did get thrown away, they were not good quality, they were going yellow and sticky.
SU has said for years now that they would wait until they found material that was high quality and stood the test of time before going the route of clear stamps. Who knows, lol...perhaps they've had this stuff under wraps for years just waiting to see if it yellowed or turned to mush? Whatever the reason, it appears they're finally satisfied they've found a good quality material. The new firm foam inkpads should work great with them, too.
Whatever, it is good to see SU stick it's toes in the water...offering this option to those who only like clear can only be a good thing. I can't wait to try them out! So far they've just got the one set available on a trial basis, with more to come.

photopolymer stamps are fabulous. just remember that they stamp differently than rubber. since I only buy clear, I can no longer get a clean impression with rubber.
There is nothing wrong with rubber or clear -- it is what your body is used to.

I am excited SU is venturing into the photopolymer world...I do like the convenience of use and ease of storage for clear stamps. This particular set does not thrill me so I won't be purchasing it but I am looking forward to what they release in photopolymer in the future.
...until I hear from SU! demos who have worked with these and they report their satisfaction using the product. I've owned clear stamps in the the past and the inferior ones don't work well with SU!'s inks....little tiny bubbles appeared on the surface of the clear stamps and the images were not so great.
So, I'm really looking forward to what demos say once they get their hands on this set and begin being creative with it.
I think this introductory set is a great set to build on and the price can't be beat!
I think I'll hold off on ordering. I think it's a good idea to wait for reviews and I'm not real crazy about the introductory set. The clear stamps do appeal to me because I like the idea of being able to see direct placement and also the potential for taking less storage space. I'm just nervous about making the leap from rubber. Perhaps if they release a set I really like I will try it out.

I am leary because other clear stamps have become sticky after awhile. Wonder if there is a way to test this? I don't suggest having them outside in the sun, like camping and stamping; or they may become sticky and hard to remove from acyrlic backing. Because of opinions, I may receving, saying this- this may have been the case when first coming out with product or just some companies.

Demos - Any update on the clear photopolymer stamps?
By now I was hoping that customers or demos who purchased SU!'s new clear photopolymer stamps would weigh in on their use with the SU! ink pads.
I have all the color collections in stampin spots and the neutrals in full sized ink pads.
I am considering buying the new clear PP stamp set, but am wondering how they work with the stampin spots. Oh, and didn't SU! have an issue with it's Basic Black ink when the current catalog came out last June or July??? I thought the basic black smeared or showed purplish in color on whisper white and very vanilla cardstock. I've been waiting to hear back from demos about the reformulated basic black pads and I haven't heard anything, as I would also like to order a new basic black when I order these clear stamps.

I just got mine the other day but have been too busy to break them out. I plan to open up mine this weekend, and I'll be sure to try them with both new ink pads AND the stampin' spots, and I'll let you know the results!

Tried these out and took some pictures for you. Note - I ALWAYS rub my clear stamps with a white eraser before I use them the first time. It seems to take off any coating on the stamp. I used real red, since that's the only color I have in both the new ink pad and the stampin' spots. Should note my stampin' spot is fairly dry so the color isn't as rich but I still got great results.

I haven't tried my spots (though it looks like mswhittaker23 did some great experiments for you ) but I did compare my "old style" ink pad which is the same material as the spots to the new "firm foam" pads. I like the firm foam pads a little better but they are so close that I have no problems at all using the old style/spot style if I want that color. Most of my color pads are the old style and I don't feel compelled to convert unless something happened to make me need a new pad.

As for the question about the black ink pads, there has been no word from SU corporate. Last we demos heard, they were making some improvements but still testing and working on things. I use my old style black (the same as what you get in the spots) and haven't had problems. I haven't really had much of a problem with my new black, but my mom has had one that was problematic on Whisper White. Hopefully they will have some announcements updating us soon!
I tested my set straight out of the package - no conditioning. They stamped great with no difference between old classic (full & spot cloth pad), new classic (foam), and craft.
I'll always be a rubbah' fan but the new pp stamps are great.
